On Call Roofers Inc

Working with On Call Roofers was good up until the project needed to be completed. Mike’s team sprayed a sealant on my metal roof and failed to tape or tarp our windows/siding/deck/driveway.

This was my experience:

I asked Mike prior to the job being complete if he’d be cleaning this up. He assured me “they’d do a thorough cleanup”. After the job was “done”, no clean up happened and the sealant remained.

I asked Mike to clean it up. He sent his crew and they only removed the sealant from the windows I specifically called out. He then immediately invoiced me, called me and texted me for final payment. In the email and phone, his wife told me they’d put a lien on my property if I didn’t pay. It had been only 4 hrs since receiving the invoice and per our contact I had 30 days to pay plus 45 until they could begin the lien process.

I let them know I wouldn’t be paying until the job was cleaned up (per the contract). They continued to threaten a lien on my property and that my request was a “punch list” item.

I had to give them 3 options: clean it up, I’d hire someone to clean it and take it off the invoice or we’d let a judge decide. They chose option 1 and it’s much better but still have sealant everywhere.

Rick and his team we’re fantastic. Everything I needed happened and exceeded my expectations as far as the work they did on the roof, putting me as a top priority and their timing of fixing my roof right before a storm came, and his professionalism and helping me take the stress off of my plate. Mike responded quickly to my request for an evaluation and estimate. Provided detailed estimates for repair and replacement. I opted for the repair, and upon agreeing upon the price they arrived promptly, completed the work promptly, and left the work area immaculate. Great roofer to work with. Will definitely call when I'm ready for the complete replacement!

Mike at On Call was great to work with. He sent me an estimate beforehand that was very reasonable and itemized everything that we had agreed upon. He showed up on the day he committed to and did a wonderful job. He even did a small repair I had asked him about at no extra charge. Highly recommended.

I bought my manufactured home about 3 years ago, and was told that
the house had been reroofed only a few years ago. I began hearing a dripping sound in my kitchen area when it rained heavily, and noticed that the ceiling tile around the area where the drip was heard was sagging. Mike came promptly to assess the situation. He took time with me, which was very important to me. He and his crew replaced the ridge cap quickly and economically. That was last summer. It didn't rain much for several months, but has really rained a lot in the last few months. I have heard no further dripping. I think the problem is fixed, and am very happy with the results.

These guys did a great job fixing up my roof after the wind storm this year. They were responsive, answered all my questions and even came back free of charge after I noticed a small issue still with the roof, following their repair. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area.

I put out a bid to my roof to several companies in the area. On Call was the first to show up and walk the roof. When I met with Mike, he explained how On Call does business in very clear terms. He also reached out for a hand shake. I knew from his manors that he is an honest man.

They removed the roof quickly. Mike took the time to remove every questionable section of rotted plywood. He could have shingled right over it and we would never know. He also took the time to add vents to our roof. I didn’t ask for them. He did it the way he would do his own home. He always described what he was doing throughout the day.

He took lots of photos on the progress. They even postponed a job to get my roof on just before a snow storm. They are fast, did a freakish job cleaning up debris after.

Collette always kept us in the loop as to the timing and cost. Billing was fast and efficient. She even sent me the warranty info when she was out of town. I would actually enjoy getting to know Mike and Collette better. They are very real and personable people. Get a roof, make a friend.

This transaction was the best decision I’ve ever made.

We woke up Sunday morning to the sound of pouring/dripping rain and determined it was coming from our wood burning fireplace. This is our first winter in our home as we had just moved into our home at the end of July and had not used the fireplace. I called a few different companies and no one got back to us. I searched Google for roofers in Sandy and found Mike. He answered his phone right away and was at our house within 30 minutes. He quickly determined the issue and got right to fixing it. We felt the pricing was also fair considering our circumstances. We are so thankful for his help on such short notice and on a Sunday! We will definitely be using him in the future for our roof needs :)

I wish I could have written a better review. Mike is very personable and friendly, but when it came down to it, I was disappointed. The crew did fine when they patched our roof several months ago, but didn't clean up after themselves very well.
I figured that wasn't the worst thing, and we needed new rain gutters so we hired On Call Roofers again.
We paid $1,200+ to have new gutters installed. Before they left, I had to have them reseal one of the sections. A few days later I realized they had pulled our landscaping rocks to prop up some of the pieces, so it looked cheap. I was more disappointed when we still had leaks on several seams (which he assured me several times would not happen), and one of the connecting pieces was a different color, again, looking cheap and unprofessional.
Mike came out to seal up the missed places and said they had spray painted the mismatched piece when they ran out of the right color. He acted as if I wouldn't notice. I made it clear to him that I wanted all the pieces to match and for them to redirect the water away from the house, because it was not working properly. (If someone pays $1,200 for something, it should look and function perfectly). He came back on a different day to actually do the repairs, and when I got back in town, I inspected the areas of concern. I was shocked to see that they had just switched the mismatch piece with a matching piece that was deeper in the corner of the yard. I couldn't believe it. It was just incredibly lazy and careless.
I should have known better when the crew left cigarette butts in our garden and changed their clothes in our driveway... a serious lack of professionalism.
Lastly, I have found yet another place where the seal wasn't done properly. I expect a professional to check and test their work before they leave a job, and if not, then they should definitely check any areas of possible concern on the second or even third visit, but the fact that it still leaks and we are out $1,200 is really frustrating. I don't know if it's Mike or his crew, but someone is taking shortcuts and being careless.

In response to your reply, Thank you for explaining the changing of the clothing in the driveway, that makes sense. I also appreciate that you did in fact return and fix a few of the seams. I want to be clear that the mismatched piece is still unaddressed. The wire, which we appreciate you cutting, was in fact not a problem until the rain gutters were installed, at which time, the wire was left hanging out. Additionally, I recommend talking to your crew, I found the cigarette butts, but I sat in my living room with a huge window and watched a tall slim man smoking while holding the rain gutter piece. I was a bit shocked at that, but again, your personable nature made that pretty easy to dismiss. I also appreciate that you installed the existing rain chain. I remember that the original bid I was told that a downspout could go there instead, but while the gutters were installed, the water didn't flow in the anticipated direction, thus requiring the rain chain. In all honesty, ones if the mismatched piece that was moved to the garden is properly replaced and the front corner is sealed so there is no more leaking, I will be happy to change my review. I just was really disappointed.

They use high quality materials that look wonderful and have a great warranty . They cleaned up everything.
I highly recommend this roofing company. It was nice to have the actual owner roofing the homes.
You can tell he has a lot of experience and does a very nice job.

I listen to his recommendations in regards to a weave and a California cut in The Valleys in the pictures on the roof for this wood prevent moisture and Ice build-up and save my house for many decades to come.
