I called several roofing companies along the peninsula and, although Terry's bid was the lowest, I was impressed with his knowledge, professionalism and personality and signed-up with his company, Ocean Park Roofing. They did a beautiful job on my roof and I would definitely recommend this company. I've had several people stop and compliment me on my house and roof when I've been down there. The new roof really improved the curb appeal on my beach home. Thank you, Terry and crew.

About 5 years ago I purchased a home on the Long Beach Peninsula, specifically in Ocean Park, Washington. The home was in need of a new roof. My neighbor assured me he was a professional roofer and replaced my roof for $6000.00 After first rain both my front and rear decks leaked like a rain storm. I called in Terry Hill owner of Ocean Park Roofing for his help and professional opinion of what was wrong. He told me that the roof was totally improperly installed and needed to be removed, disposed of, and completely redone. I am a disabled old man pushing 70 and living on Social Security, so $6k near killed me. Terry suggested a Membrane TPO Roof for my situation. Terry impressed me with his open honest professional knowledge and information. I decided to hire Terry to do the job of removing the first roof that was a six thousand dollar waste of money and to install the new membrane Roof. Well it has been about 4 years now and the roof is working perfectly. Not a drip of water coming through it anywhere. It has held up perfectly in several windstorms as well. This man is honest and knowledgeable and I trust him to no end. Thank you Terry Hill and may God Bless You Sir. If you need a roof and an honest man to do it, call Terry Hill at Ocean Park Roofing in ocean Park Washington.

Terry did us such a solid, replacing our skylights. He was eager to save us money and not do more work than was necessary. We were quoted several thousand dollars from two other companies. Terry did the job for a fraction of the other quotes. I love this man and his company!!!
(Follow-up 6-yrs later in 2024: The fix is still PERFECT! Thanks again Terry and Ocean Park Roofing.)

I hired Ocean Park Roofing to build me an attached garage. Terry convinced me to let him do the work while I was gone. ("Trust your contractor") Upon return I discovered my roof was leaking where it had been tied into the existing house roof. My sheet rock inside was cracked and discolored. There was debris all over my yard. This included nails sticking out of boards, nails lying on the ground and sharp metal pieces. My friends are senior citizens this was dangerous. My existing house roof had never leaked. Terry kept saying my roof was bad and it needed to be replaced. When I called and said I was tired of living in a construction zone and needed clean up and also needed to know the costs of fixing my roof he said he had been working six days and the job was more difficult than he realized and I might want to get bids from other contractors. Excuse me? The clean up had not occurred, the firewall was not put up and other odds and ends were not finished. I did say I wanted him to finish the job. At that point he said he would come by in about 3 days to give me a bid. I decided to call other contractors. I had at least five contractors look at this mess and say the tie in was not done right. I was told the garage was overbuilt the rafters are very odd, there are two huge heavy beams in several places that are next to each other, a lot of expensive wood that I paid for. I decided to place an insurance claim for damages. Terry showed up and stood in my garage and said I was suing him, with tears in his eyes. I said no this is an insurance claim. At that moment he said I "created" a claim. Believe me I have tons of pictures of this mess. I went up top and found that he had left the tie in unsecured, left one part of the garage build open to the elements, pounded nails everywhere into my existing house roof and basically damaged or left unfinished a great deal of work.He even used pieces of old roofing that were left from the original roofing job on the tie in. He also removed the siding from behind the new garage to the back of my house on the north side, this was not part of the job. I had a claims adjuster come to my house. I have received an estimate of damages.Yes, they will be paying for part of this. I also sent a certified letter to the business address requesting haul off of debris and repairs. It was returned unclaimed. I have been told this was a $18,000 to $20,000 dollar garage build so far I am at about $27,000 after paying for the build, the roof, the concrete, the plumbing, the electrician, the roof and the local lumber yard for materials. He even charged me for saw blades. If I paid for them they should be left with me, they were not. Besides saw blades are part of the workers equipment not building materials. I have extras to add in for the pouring of concrete steps and the hanging of the garage door. Also the garage is not sided which will cost me an additional five thousand dollars and than I have to put on gutters. Seems a $20.000 garage will cost me closer to $35,000. Oh yes and I had to pay another contractor to repair my roof. Folks this is an oversized single garage measuring 19 x 22 feet. I DO have a contract. Be careful with contractors and make certain you check out former jobs before hiring one. Come by and I will happily show you pictures of this mess.

It is really hard to find good people anymore. I just bought a place in Long Beach and have a leak in the roof. I called Terry and the other roofer in our area for an estimate. The other roofer said I need a whole new roof @$12,000+ plus of course boards @$65 a piece. (crap, I was expecting needing a roof but hoping not yet) Then Terry came out and walked the roof with my husband and told us that we didn't need a new roof. He pointed out all the good things that were done by the last roofer. The roof is in good shape, it just has one area that needs patched. His estimate is really reasonable. He could not have been nicer. I can't wait to get it scheduled and done. If you need a roof, THIS IS THE PLACE. It is so nice to know that there are HONEST folks still out there. I will eventually need a roof...and I will have it done with Ocean Park Roofing.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
