TLDR - Mighty Dog did a fantastic job with our roof, and also took the reins with our (very reluctant) insurance provider to get them to pay for it.

For more context - We had been experiencing internal water damage issues from our roof for several months, and there was seemingly nothing we could do to get them to pay attention to it. However, once we started working with Mighty Dog (specifically Joe & Nick), they finally were able to get some real motion going, and replaced our roof with high quality shingles at almost no cost to us whatsoever. They also did a great job in replacing our chimney siding & cap! If you need a roof replacement (especially if it’s from storm damage), I’d highly recommend working with Mighty Dog - they won’t let you down!

This company was super helpful, walked me through the process( first time ever having to file a claim) helped with financial assistance, and the expertise to help extend the life of my roof for years and improvements that made it really pop( changed the gutter color and I love it!) They showed up on time and those guys worked from sunup to sundown. They did a complete tear off with a 3 man crew( they were short handed that day) They told me it would be done in a day and it was!! They cleaned all the debris and had tarps to help keep nails out of the yard, as well as ran magnets all over to pick any they have missed. Super professional and care about their customers!!! Brandon himself even came out and tapped my roof himself 2 times as we were having more storms before we could get it scheduled. I have had only the most amazing experience with this company. From the first day of going over services to the last day there was always communication. All questions were answered in a respectful manner and every detail explained. The crew that came out were equally amazing. They made sure every nail and scrap was cleaned up and did their very best to be done while I was at work. Nick and his team were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. I met Nick several years ago, as he helped one of my clients with their roof. We had some storm damage happen several times over the years, and Nick was always readily available to come out, get on the roof and take a look. He helped us with several repairs and documented everything exceptionally well. Recently we had a storm come through this past May/June. After getting back on the roof for like the 5th or 6th time, he suggested it might be time to put in an insurance claim, as we had significant wind damage that was wreaking havoc on our roof and compromising its integrity. We did just that, with Mighty Dog & Nick with us every step of the way. Since Mighty Dog & Nick were thorough in our documentation, the dealings with our insurance company were fairly easy and very fair. We now have a new roof because of the hard work, preparation, dedication to building a relationship, awesome expertise, and perseverance in working with our insurance company that Mighty Dog and Nick put in for the past 4 years. Not to mention, they put our roof on in 1 day...that's right, it only took 1 day to get our new roof installed. The Mighty Dog crew were efficient and friendly. If they did not like the look of one of our new shingles, they wouldn't use it, choosing for a better quality shingle in the pack. They were very professional, and they use top quality Owens Corning materials, with some of the best warranties out there. We chose to for the extended warranty and it is well worth the extra cost, because we now have a 50 years on materials and 25 years on labor. Oh, and the shingles go up to Cat 3 hurricane force winds. They used a really reliable sheathing to attached our shingles that grips the nail and allows the installers to know where to shoot the nail into the boarding properly. They also use 6 nails, not the traditional 4 that most roofers use. I would know all of this if it weren't for Nick taking the time to help me understand all of this. Bottom line...if you have roof issues, Nick and his team are the BEST roofers in our area. You really would be doing yourself a disservice by not having them come out and give you an inspection or quote b/c they are one of the TOP roofing companies out there. Thanks Nick, Mighty Dog and the install team for an excellent, professional experience, a new...really good looking roof...and for a awesome relationship experience!

Having someone you can trust with your home is the same as a trusted doctor for your health, or an honest mechanic for your vehicles. I can’t speak highly enough about Nick, and I’ve finally found the guy I can trust who’s honest about the condition of my home’s exterior. He came out and inspected my roof as well as other exterior components, and provided a thorough explanation of my homes ‘health’ - all free of charge! I’ve found my guy, and you should too - these guys are true professionals!

UPDATE 8/31/24:

I am updating our review to 3 stars due to:

1- Nick did finally reach out after i contacted Mighty Dog through the main website, the main Mighty Dog customer service team immediately contacted me, and then they reached out to the Smyrna office on my behalf. We found ourselves in need of the photos Joe took because we are still dealing with insurance to try to get our roof covered, and MD was the only company (out of 4) who inspected our roof and used chalk to mark hail damage and took photos. Otherwise I definitely wouldn't have revisited this.

2- It appears that there was a lot of communication about my issue going on within the MD-Smyrna team even as no one reached out to me to find out what my experience resulted from, and Nick acknowledged that there was a communication breakdown between them and us, on their end.

3- When Nick and I amicably agreed that neither of us really wanted to do business together, he provided me with the name of a trusted roofer and went over my legal rights (as we have been struggling with insurance as a result of Joe's absence from the inspection) and gave me a run down of different ways I can continue to appeal the insurance's decision.

4- During my conversation with Nick I learned that from their perspective, I was refusing to sign their liaison agreement. This was not the case, at all - I had a couple of questions that I needed the answers to before signing, and Joe never replied to my questions once i asked them. It's understandable, though, that if they believed I was refusing to sign the agreement, they could only assume that I was trying to get free work out of them and circumvent their policies to my benefit and their detriment.

I am not updating it to 5 stars due to:

1- There was a definite lack of curiosity regarding my experience. When Nick called me, he was on the offense from the outset. Getting my side of things understood by him was hard-won, as the conversation did not go smoothly for the majority of the time. He was deliberately insulting a couple of times, and although he acknowledged that he got a little aggressive, he did not apologize.

2- It took my reaching out through the main website and their involvement to get ANY kind of response from MD-Smyrna. I texted multiple people there, called and left messages with multiple people telling them I didn't know what to do next because no one was getting back in touch with me, and left the first review with absolutely no response. I was prepared to sign the liaison agreement, but just needed some clarification before doing so, and didn't feel comfortable signing it when they went silent after I asked my questions.

To sum it up: if they had asked questions and followed up or just answered my questions about the liaison agreement, this would probably all have been avoided, we would have worked with them and would have a beautiful new roof and a lovely experience with them, same as almost everyone else who left a review. Can't say I would work with them after all of this, but also can't say i wouldn't recommend them because obviously they typically do an amazing job, and Nick seemed to appreciate my point of view by the end of the conversation.

ORIGINAL REVIEW (8/20/24):

Our experience with Mighty Dog Roofing (Smyrna/Nashville) started out great, with lots of communication with Joe. However after weeks of trying to get someone from their office to help us, and talking to three different people on multiple occasions (Joe, Brandon, Nick), we are very disappointed in the experience. Joe did not come to our scheduled inspection with the insurance adjuster, even though I scheduled it around his availability, and it all went downhill from there.

We are moving on down our list of roofers and hoping for a better experience elsewhere.

This was very surprising since so many reviews give such high praise to Mighty Dog, and specifically Brandon and Nick. Seems like maybe we had one too many complications with our job and they decided it just wasn't worth the bother.... not a way to run a business.

Nick inspected my roof and gave me a clean bill of health of health. I really appreciated the honest assessment of my roof!

Mr. Don Lambert stated that he could help us with our roof being in disrepair. We had loose shingles laying in our parking area. One side of our roof was missing a great amount of shingles. We were looking at replacing our roof, by having a fundraiser to raise money for the repairs. This company has been great and very thorough. Especially Don, who has helped us through the entire process. We were hit by one of the tornadoes and he has thoroughly inspected everything to make sure all damage was accounted for. He also stayed for the insurance people to come to let them know about any damage. He took a 3D image of the house showing us the damage. Overall amazing experience. For a stressful situation, they took care of things and reduced my stress about everything. I highly recommend this company.

We had an initial salesman that got a couple items wrong, however Nick ended up being our main contact and we got everything straightened out. He was really great to work with, responded timely. He shared a couple locations with shingle colors to have a better expectation and that was very helpful. He coordinated very well when scheduling. The team was great - took a day and a half because we required decking, not just shingles. I hadn't replaced a roof before and was surprised by all the "mess" the day of, but the team did a great job of putting everything in order and cleaning up. We were really happy with the results! Would definitely recommend. Very good to work with overall and a quality job.
