Matsu Valley Rebuild

I regret to leave this negative review, because MVR is so great and so needed in our community. But as a regular volunteer for 2 years (in addition to $$ donor and customer), my experience was that when I eventually spoke up against repeated disrespect from management and brought up other legitimate concerns, those concerns were dismissed and I was essentially ostracized for months. If this non-profit plans to rely on volunteer support, volunteers need to be treated with basic respect and allowed a voice if there are concerns. They should also have a proper path to recourse when issues arise instead of a policy that seems to want to isolate, dismiss, punish and/or stamp down questioning. Voicing my concerns went nowhere, thus this public review. I so want MVR to succeed, but believe change is needed. I don’t want anyone to experience what I experienced or feel like I didn’t do enough to try to prevent it from repeating.

If mgmt replies to this, I will not engage in a back and forth. I spent 8 months trying to have concerns properly addressed in private. Disrespect isn’t acceptable in any workplace and doesn’t get a pass just because you’re trying to keep an important cause afloat. As MVR often says, “there are no owners”; it takes a team and even with committed, hard-working, knowledgeable leaders, teams require communication and mutual respect to work.

great place for any part or tool you need (we needed an obscure drawer part from the 80’s), well-organized, good prices. awesome music playing and the people are cool, too

Recently went to the rebuild store as I enjoy reusing and creating out of recycled material. After being quoted a price on some materials, I left and bought the same thing at Lowe's plus all of the hardware to install it at less than 1/3 of the price. Know the cost of items before you go, or you could be spending more than new.

This is a great place to find anything from nails & screws, light fixtures, doors, vanities, there's too much to list. Go check it out, you'll find things you didn't know you needed.

Stop into MVR before heading to the big box stores! Whether you're feeling creative or feeling the need for a refresh on an existing room or project, MVR has what you need. Plus, the shop dog is such a joy, and the Manager is knowledgeable and helpful. I've heard other customers say "you saved me a trip to Wasilla!" and if you live in Palmer, you know that's always a good thing!

I'm pleased that Matsu Valley Rebuild is in the valley. This is my first stop when doing projects. Thanks for keeping good materials out of the landfill, MVR!!

Have a lot of things I needed. About half the price of new... so it can be a bargain but a lot of it is used and older items. Some things could be cheaper on sale in stores new and should be a lot less price considering they probably would have been thrown away but I support local business and they are reusing instead of filling up the landfill.

We have been able to find all the odds and ends we need while fixing our home. Prices are amazing.

Help divert usable stuff from the landfill, buy less new stuff, and spend less money in the process.

Funnest man hangout. Great place with low prices on stuff to fill your garage! If you don't have a garage you can get 70% of the materials there to build one and all you need to buy otherwise is your lumber package

Fantastic place! Very helpful, and a great variety of choices for parts of projects. Please support this FANTASTIC local business, as while the stock is more limited and the scale is not "big box store" sized, it's better than any other reclaimed and used home store I've ever been in.

Amazing prices and so much to choose from. If you are remolding, landlord doing projects, or need something for cabin I would highly recommend stopping here before big box store.

This place is the bomb! The inventory continues to grow, and I find something new everytime I go. Reasonable prices, friendly staff, and a relaxed environment. This is definitely the best place to find used tools in the Valley. Can't wait to go back!

Great source for miscellaneous building materials for DIY projects. Fills a real need, and lets you pass on leftover items to others instead of tossing them.

Only got 5 cause they didn't have 10. This place has been a great resource for our home remodel. Highly recommend. From plexi, to chimneys and sinks. They have almost anything in housing needs

Do the right thing! Check this place out! Stop giving your money to Evil Amazon, etc, and creating more waste!! MVR always has a ton of great stuff. I always walk out with more than I expected.

I always stop by here first for material before looking for a new item, you never know what you'll find here, it may be just what you need! They only run off of donated items.

Matsu Valley Rebuild is a wonderful resource for our community! Not only is it keeping useful items out of the landfill but you can also find so many supplies for any home or craft project at a fraction of the cost. It is well organized and easy to shop and the staff are very helpful and kind. I highly recommend first checking MatsuValley Rebuild for any of your project needs!

Great prices, huge selection, and awesome mission! This local nonProfit is community focused and has great customer service! Tim prevents so much from going in the landfill while helping to update your home affordably. Definitely recommend everyone check this place out.

Love this place! Helping a friend redo parts of their home, and we've been able to find much of what we need here with wonderful prices as compared to the big box stores. I love supporting local businesses with an emphasis on a mission to help the community and others. I cannot say enough about the owner and his wife, just people I would want to not only do business with, but sit around a campfire and swap stories. Why shop huge corporations when you can support a neighbor who also wants to help neighbors?

Huge fan - of both what's inside the store and the mission. As a resident of the valley I appreciate the devotion to keeping reusable items out of our landfill so as to keep our amazing greenspace open to trails and not trash! There is a huge variety of materials for any project I need... and plenty of projects are born out of what I find in the store! The customer service is excellent especially since I don't often know what exactly I need and the quality of materials available is incredible.

This place is a hidden gem. Outside of being super practical, you never know what you'll find here. Caulk, light fixtures, door hinges, electrical cords, vanities, you name it. Everything is also nicely organized.

This is a great place to buy recycled new/used/surplus home construction items such as bath tubs, showers, paint, a variety of hardware, flooring, cabinets, etc. Please shop here before buying new materials. This store reduces items from ending up at landfill and repurposes those items effectively. The staff are professional and provide excellent customer service. This store has saved me hundreds of dollars.

I found this place after hearing a radio spot. I've been putting off projects because the price of materials has been so crazy. This shops got a ton of stuff, reasonably priced, locally run. kind of amazing.

Spent a lot of time there last fall. I renovated my buddy’s place and wanted save as much money for him as possible so I checked out MVR. It didn’t matter what we needed, light fixtures, counter tops, a sink, windows, lumber, it’s crazy all the stuff that Tim has there. Great place. Great prices. I recommend it.

This place is cool. Personally, I like the way it smells. A little like wet pillows... But besides that, they have that little something that's needed at the right price.

Despite being medically unable to wear a mask I was rudely told It was a mandate to wear one. The manager made no attempt to correct the situation in fact he continued to go on a rant about his beliefs. When your customer is medically unable making them feel responsible for covid-19 deaths seems a little excessive. This is very disheartening and absolutely terrible customer service. I will never shop there again went to Homedepot, I was just trying to support our local businesses. This happened December 9th 2020 at about 3:00 p.m.. of course the business owner would deny this.

Very good for the Valley. Nice to have a place to get just a foot of something rather than 5 feet or 8 feet. Very good to see re-use and recycling out here.... Much needed for the Valley
