Deb’s ideas for our decks, including railings and privacy panel, modernized our 1950’s ranch style home. She thought outside of the box with her design and created a great outdoor look for the back of our house.

Magee Construction has been my "go to" company for many years. They have done numerous remodels on my condo including the kitchen, master bathroom, sun porch, fireplace facade as well as projects in the garage. Deb is terrific to work with. She keeps the projects on track, checks on them and her communication skills are excellent. As their ad says "Turn to Magee"...I always will!

Magee Construction has done several big and small projects for us over the past 20+ years. The projects have included a driveway, three season room, finished basement, new roof, windows, patio door, and front porch railing and steps. Most recently Magee completed a first floor project that included the kitchen, laundry area, a ½ bath, family room and dining room. Not to say that every project has gone smooth without a bump or two from start to finish but I will say that they take care of any issues that do arise. We have worked mainly with Matt Freet as the estimator/project manager. Matt is very responsive and patient when it comes to helping decide on design and materials to use. He stays on top of the project along the way with material orders and the timing of the subcontractors doing their part. All the carpenters that have been to our house have been great, but we have been lucky enough to have Samir complete most of our projects. He is a rock star, he knows what he is doing, he will provide his opinion when needed (which is nice because it sounds like he has done it all) and he leaves the house just as clean if not cleaner when he leaves for the day as when he started the day. Next, we are going to remodel the upstairs to match the new trim and finishes downstairs, we are looking forward to getting that done as well with Matt, Samir, and Magee!

We have used Magee for several projects. Not only were the staff kind, understanding, and professional, but they treated our kids so well. One employee even bought the kids small Christmas gifts (they had worked on an addition for several months, so we got to know them well).
I will always recommend Magee to anyone looking. I am grateful to have found Matt Freet and been able to work with him on several projects.

I called Magee construction to get a bid in an egress window. I talked with Matt Freet he came over promptly and gave me a very reasonable estimate. The window they put in looks great and the crew didn’t mess up the yard and was very clean! Thanks Magee!

We had shingles blow off this spring with all the high winds. I called Matt on a Monday to inform him of the problem. Someone was out by Wednesday and had our roof repaired. Prompt and professional.

I absolutely love my Magee remodel! Our project turned out great. They were able to design our project and deliver it with extreme attention to detail.

We lived in our house for 45 years, and the last 35 we worked exclusively with Magee Construction for all work on the house because of their attention to quality, communication, and timeliness. We had them shingle the roof twice, side the house, expand the garage from two cars to four cars, replace 13 windows, renovate the master bathroom, and disconnect the foundation drain tile from the sanitary sewer. They also did smaller projects like replacing range hoods and building pantry cabinets. Every time I quoted the work, Magee's quote was not the lowest, but competitive, and the "family like" relationship we developed with the Magee staff, including the owner Wayne Magee, made their work a great value. Magee construction did excellent work on a major renovation project at my home. They were professional, timely and worked at a very good pace. It was a pleasure working with their project manager Matt.

Waited a month for a quote was told 2 weeks was told they could get right on the project now it’s 4 weeks out and there saying it’s going to cost 10k to put in a header that shouldn’t cost more than a few thousand now I’m told that they can’t come out for a minimum of 4 weeks I won’t ever use them and won’t ever recommend to anyone

It took a month to have them come out and give me an estimate and I was fine with that because I know they are busy. However it’s been 2 months since they came out to give me an estimate for my remodel and they still have not even given me an estimate. I called after a month and they told me “I PROMISE we will get you something by the end of the week”. Well they never did!!! I called after 6 weeks and the receptionist said “I am so so sorry we DO WANT this project!! I will have her call you!!!” Well 2 weeks later still no call!!!

Called to get a estimate done for damage over week ago . Never got a call back . Just called and heard the scope of work wasn’t big enough for them to bother with our house . Keep in mind they never came out to actually look at damage . So never bothered to call back . Horrible

Ordered a patio door back in April. They showed up to find it was the wrong swing of door. 8 months later Im still dealing with them and trying to get it right. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED!!! Called the office today to speak with Wayne Magee and the receptionist "Erin" was rude (as usual, spoke with her before) but said she would leave a message for Wayne to call me. I guess we'll see if Wayne actually calls back.

We have had them do several projects. Things have been done well and in a timely manner. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

I had a patio below my deck that was it was just done poorly. Chris Larson came out and took a look at it and gave me several suggestions for how they might fix it. He was professional and knowledgeable in doing that. Once we had settled on a Solution, Max and Hugo and the rest of the crew came out and really showed artistry in doing concrete work. They really showed their knowledge and skills and made this project turn out amazing! They also worked extremely hard during extreme heat.. I can't say enough good things about this crew. They get 2 thumbs up

I was looking to have an interior wall removed, and had them come out for an estimate back in March 2021. They told me it would be 1-2 months before they would have the estimate back to me. I called and emailed them a few times around the 2 month time to see where they were at in the process, and have not received any response back from them. It has been over 4 months with no response. If you are needing a small interior project done, I would not recommend them as they obviously do not make you a priority. If you say 1-2 months to hear back, I expect to at least hear some sort of an update within that time. Very disappointed, and will never use these guys for a project.

In repairing our house after a tree fell on it I reminded them EVERY SINGLE DAY not to go in the one room upstairs that had no repairs to be done. I had a tropical bird in there with a space heater to be sure he stayed warm. They liked to leave windows open because of paint fumes. Every day I went home to care for him and the door was opened. The last day I allowed them on my property was when I came home to the door open, heater shut off and windows both open - this was the end of November. He was frozen to the bottom of his cage. I told them they were not coming back. They took the insurance payment for all work (even that they didn’t finish), I had a dead bird. The owners solution was “Its a bird ma’am, go to the pet store and pick out another, have them send me the bill.” Never again will they get my business.

Got a quote for new roof and siding and made the mistake of giving them the insurance quote with the amount we had to spend. Their quote was exactly that total. Every other contractor gave a fair quote under the total. Meyers Construction was the best. They were a few thousand under the check amount. We are so pleased with Al and his crew. Never using anyone else.

Beyond happy with the workmanship and crew from Magee! I would highly recommend them. When installing a sump pump in my basement the crew came to the job on time, did great work and cleaned up everything - you would never even have guessed we had construction happening.

I needed a quote on some basement work this fall and was very surprised by the level of expediency and professionalism executed by the representative that arrived at my house. I was given an estimate within a relatively quick time frame, but due to a small technical misspelling, it wasn't as soon as we had hoped to receive it.

The quote was a little bit high for our budget and because of that, we did not end up experiencing the work that this company provides. So I can't really speak to that. But from what I know, they're very knowledgeable and thorough in assessing the work that they plan to do.

I called McGee this morning with a first time severe roof leak..the receptionist answered, I told her my issue and asked if someone could come out and look at it today since water was pouring in. She nastily and abruptly said “NO”..nothing else, so rude. McGee sure does NOT have the key OR does it have any class dealing with customers ! I will certainly let others know what kind of customer service you give..none!

I can't speak for their workmanship, but if it's anything like their customer service on the phone, I'd steer clear. I called to try to set up estimates for my dad, and I was told that 30 minutes away from their office was too far out of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area. Your loss Magee. Complete kitchen remodel, moving electrical and plumbing. Guess you don't need money?

Masterfully Done!!! Thanks so much to Matt Freet and the rest of the Magee crew. Kiddos love the new space and my wife loves the new laundry room.

I purchased a house last year and from day one I had leaks in my living room and breezeway. Did take the person to small claims and he settled just before the court date. Magee's people gave me an estimate and when they completed the work it was less than quoted. So far no leaks and a fantastic job they did. Thank you! Lisa

Terrible. Did work on my home after asking for estimate only. Told Magee that insurance company wanted estimates only. Magee was told three times NOT to do anything after they insisted it was an easy fix and they could do it quickly. Waited to hear back on their estimate which never came. Instead, got bill in mail next week. Went to back of house to see they ignored our request to do no work until we had bid. These jokers tresspased and did the work on my house without permission. Called Magee and they admitted they did the work and confirmed they knew we were only requesting estimate of damages. I refused to pay for work I told them 3 times not to do. Magee then goes and files a lien on my home for payment. I've ignored their lien and monthly bills and lien has now expired after 2.5 yrs. They still send monthly bills that have nearly doubled their original bill. Stay away from these preadatory clowns. Kind of wish they would have tried to sue before their lien expired. They knew they were wrong and files lien under false pretense. Didn't have the stones to take it all the way to court to scam some cash.

**update** After writing this review, Magee returned my check. No note or reason...strange. I do appreciate the refund so i will give 2 more stars but I still will not be using them in the future.**
Never do business with this Company! We bought our home a year ago. Before we bought it we noticed that the roof was leaking. The owners called Magee to fix it before we closed on the house. Shortly after we moved in, it continued leaking. We called them to come out to look at it and two guys came and caulked around the windows for about 20 minutes (with caulk that doesn't match the house) We asked them if or how much they would charge us. They said they didn't know because they don't deal with the billing. We later received a bill for $171.20. We called and asked about the bill. We were told that the bill was for two hours for two technicians. I am very disappointed and of course I am not sure that it won't leak again tomorrow. We wanted to have it fixed correctly but i guess next time i will just have my husband climb up not the house, put $10 worth of Caulk around the windows and call it good.
