I received my monthly $5 off $30 coupons in the mail and also my birthday coupon for $5 off any purchase over $5. When Scherbarths owned Ace, I was always told that $5 birthday coupons could be used in conjunction with the monthly coupons--apparently that policy has changed.

Today I bought a Fiskars hedge trimmer, a bag of diatomaceous earth, and a pack of blades for my Stihl weedeater, total before coupons (not shown on receipt) was just over $59. AFTER scanning both coupons, the cashier informed me that to use both coupons I'd have to spend another $30! Apparently, since she scanned the birthday coupon first, which only required a $5 purchase (even though I'd spent well over the $30 requirement of the other coupon), the register wouldn't accept the coupon requiring a $30 purchase. I love supporting locally owned businesses and wouldn't be writing this bad review if:

1. The cashier had told me that only one coupon could be used.

2. The cashier had scanned the $5 off $30 purchase instead of the $5 off $5 purchase (since I'd spent almost $60), which would have allowed me to still use my birthday coupon on a small purchase.

At the beginning of the week, we went to Ace for paint. It was supposed to be a color with blue-green undertones, but instead it was a forest green with black undertones, so on the wall it almost looks black. We have attempted to return the paint twice, the second time after speaking with the manager and being told to bring the paint back in and they would exchange it, but there wasn't any information left for the employees. I really wanted to keep my business local, but since Ace apparently doesn't care about good customer service, then I don't care to spend my money there.

The staff are all extremely friendly and very helpful. If they don't have what you need they can probably get it. If they don't know what to do with something they will direct you to someone who does.

Not the greatest customer service. Everyone just seemed to not be happy to be there or feel the importance of being helpful. Not having what I needed, after 20 minutes of trying to figure out if they did or not topped it off. Won't go out of my way to go here again.

Sherbarth Ace Hardware is the last place I would return to. I needed 20 12 foot 2×12s and they had 63 on hand but they were split and warped so bad I had to pick good ones and was told I would have to pay more if I wanted the good ones. They were more money than surrounding stores but I was in Fairbury so thought I would get them there. Did not buy because owners are very rude. Very bad customer service.

This Ace hardware has the largest selection of any Ace I've been to. There is always someone knowledgeable there to happily help you. And their paint department is top notch. #ShopFairburyFirst
