Island Deck & Shed did a wonderful job finishing a shed we had that needed a roof and siding. They were extremely professional, kind, and reasonably priced. Throughout the process from getting an estimate to answering questions on the day they arrived to work, Mandy and Joshua were great with communication. They helped us source the best materials for our budget and for durability. They finished the work in under a day and did a fantastic job. Would love to work with them again.

Mandy was very friendly. They did a good job with a small roof repair and replacing some vent boots. Took pictures while they were up there so I could see what had been done - and even cleared some branches off while they were at it - as a courtesy. Then the fee was super reasonable! Not a huge job, but they treated me like it was - and I appreciate these folks.

Joshua at Island Deck and Shed in Oak Harbor is a Subcontractor of one of the Largest Pole Barn builders in the Pacific Northwest, Town & Country a division of Permabilt. This Company in my opinion only hires the very best! This is how I met Joshua Amick, his wonderful wife Mandy, and great crew. In October 2020 They built my 24X22 Two story garage. I have been very impressed with the outstanding quality of work. Many of my neighbors and friends have complimented the new quality construction and the incredible time it was built in. Joshua at Island Deck and Shed can be relied upon to see that all tasks are completed expeditiously and efficiently. High level of expertise. A dedicated builder and leader whose standards of integrity are of finest quality. If you're looking for an outstanding, reliable contractor for a Big Job or something small look no further. These guys are the way to go. Thank you Joshua, Mandy, and crew.

I called this company to come out and replace some poorly installed stairs on my home a few months ago. I just learned yesterday that they did not file permits with the county like they were supposed to. So, I called to speak with the owner and was told that they didn't know they needed to file a permit FIRST, then was told that it was the previous person's job to do it. Since we learned that he wasnt an actual licensed and bonded contractor, that is the reason why we sought out this company trying to do things the RIGHT WAY...I told the owner Mandy that I was going to contact county and see what needed to be to done to correct the problem. She later called me back and said that she had spoken with county and the permits did need to be filed and that she was told the fee was $105 to include the penalty fee of $23. She proposed that she NOW file the paperwork as a favor to us, and said that we should cover the full cost of the fees. I told her that wasn't fair I thought it was only fair that the company pay the $23 penalty fee as they did NOT file when they were supposed to and the excuse "I didn't know" wasn't ok. She became very irate and and belligerent stating that she couldn't afford to pay the $105 and that she could barely make pay roll. I told her I wasn't asking for them to pay the $105 only the $23 which was fair in my opinion. She proceeded to tell me that she did me a favor by redesigning our stairs and having her husband come out to fix the poorly made stairs that we had and that her time was money. She said that it was costing her time and money now having to file the paperwork to get the permits and that they shouldn't be held responsible for paying the $23. I asked if she was really going to argue about accountability when they didnt do what they were supposed to as a business and she proceeded to yell that she was just going to take care of everything herself and I quote "bill me for her time as well". I spoke with the county today and was informed that I can contact the Department of Labor and Industries regarding the matter and I definitely intend to do so. If you can avoid this company YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY BEWARE! Find a more reputable company because this one isn't worth it at all!

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
