In 2016 Hudson Construction put a roof on my home. The crew was professional and did a good job as far as I could tell. They left little to no mess and even trimmed some branches that were overhanging the roof at no extra charge along with repositioning some gutter covers.
Fast forward to 2023. My roof developed a substantial leak which I noticed after a driving rain storm. I called Hudson Construction on a Sunday and left a message on the business line and the owners personal cell phone letting him know I had a substantial leak. I called again 1st thing Monday morning at both 8am. and 9am. leaving messages on both phones. I called again on Monday when I returned home from work and around 5:30 pm. After receiving no reply I called again Tuesday morning this time leaving a message asking the owner if he was still in business and if not to let me know as this leak needed to be attended to before it completely ruined my ceiling. I called both lines again Tuesday afternoon but just got voice mailboxes. It was odd to me though as the business line message still identified the line as Hudson Construction. I never received a return call or text.
At this point I assumed the business had either closed or that I was being ghosted. To feel out the later I had my co worker call from her cell phone and inquire about a roof replacement on her home. That message received a response from the owner the following day. Having already contracted with another company for the repair I tried contacting the owner one more time and got a pick up. The owner stated he had been too sick the previous 3 days to return any of my calls and apologized. I asked if he could come by and access the leak this being Wednesday but he declined saying he had a ballgame in the evening to attend. He assured me he would do his best to get out the following day but could not guarantee it. I let him know time was of the essence for me as rain was in the forecast and another contractor was coming to do the repair on Saturday of the week. The owner did not show on Thursday nor has he reached out.
Roof was repaired by another contractor on Saturday who stated the cause of the leak was improper shingle installation. I'm not in a position to verify the cause, just passing on what the company performing the repair told me. Had Mr. Hudson come out and taken a look he could have disputed this assessment but as it is I'll just have to take the word of the contractor that did the repair.
A roof is a major investment for any home owner. Water can cause thousands of dollars of damage in a short period of time. Anything can break and a roof in particular has hundreds if not thousands of opportunities to fail. These days I expect a roof to last 20-30 years and if something does go wrong I expect to be able to rely on the contractor that installed the roof for support not just for the initial install. How Mr. Hudson was well enough to return the call about a new install but too ill to respond to multiple calls about a 6 ½ year old roof with a significant leak and rain in the forecast I'll let the reader decide. Choose your contractor wisely. I hope this review helps someone else attempting to find the right contractor for their home.

I highly recommend Hudson Construction.
I had wind damaged roof and he came by at my request after spending the day replacing my neighbor’s shingles. I received a quote promptly. I had an insurance adjuster check out the damage and contacted Mr. Hudson. He came by with samples and informed me when they could help me. They came and did an outstanding job. I couldn’t be more happy with their work and the clean up afterwards was very good.
If you are looking for a high quality job you should look no further.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
