Many reviews highlight the friendly and knowledgeable staff, as well as the convenience of finding needed items without traveling far. However, several customers expressed frustration with the return policy and perceived lack of motivation from employees, which detracts from the overall shopping experience. Music was annoying (too loud).
It was very obvious that the principal was not there. While the staff was polite ( the one I questioned mentioned there were only 3 employees all day), I would have bought more if the help were motivated to assist and 'sell.' I guess this is a typical thing now in retail. It just makes on-line shopping more attractive.

They will do anything to get out of a return or exchange. Was told 90 days for an exchange, then upon arriving was denied due to lack of tags being on the item. Similar things have happened here. Triple check your item before purchasing because they have no specific return policy.

Edit to this review after they replied: they are adamant that they have a clear return policy - however by not accepting any items that have been opened they are essentially saying no returns. Lowes or Home Depot has no problem accepting returns.

This is a friendly place to shop. Employees are very helpful and very approachable. Usually, though, you don’t need to look for help because a staff member will ask if they can help you with anything before you get far into the store. If the employee I’ve asked a question of doesn’t know the answer, he or she has always sought help from co-workers. I like that the employees joke with me—makes for a friendly atmosphere for all.

We completely renovated our home this year, and Horns was a destination near daily, especially for paint. Staff is super friendly, super helpful, and they know their paint products! Could not have done it without them.

Typically, I love Ace Hardware stores, but this one is the worst. In addition to basically having to beg the workers to pause their side conversations to answer customer questions and give support, they use their store to promote their preferred politician. The paint counter in the back has really ignorant and hateful political signs all over the register. Why? Hardware had absolutely nothing to do with politics. Also, you can get everything in the store at lower prices elsewhere in Kilmarnock and the surrounding area.

Little overpriced but they are closer to me than Lowes so in a pinch I'll come here. Staff is ok.

Very knowledgeable and attentive staff for the retail section. Rental rates are high, and staff are inexperienced on operation of equipment.

They not only have the tools you may need for a project. They have a awesome selection of yard art and fishing supplies. I go there as much as I can because their inventory is always changing.

Update - So disappointed. We shop there all the time and are always so pleased with everyone but the one time I needed to exchange something (a pair of Xtra Tuf boots that didn't quite fit) the woman that assisted me treated me like I was doing something wrong and was so rude. Makes me sad. Deleting our Ace Rewards account now.

Great place to go for special items not found in most ordinary stores. There's a vast array of needed items and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The paint department is extensive and unique but expect to pay a bit more. They also know local workers they might suggest to help with your projects..

Pricing questions
1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?
+-

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.

4. What is the typical roof leak repair cost, and how is it calculated?

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
