HM did a fantastic job installing an exterior staircase, replacing concrete sidewalks, and enlarging an asphalt driveway. Now, the first impression of the house is that it looks new and well designed. We will use them again.

We hired H&M to redo our entire front walkway, stairs and railings. Eddie and his team did a very nice job. Would use them again for other home improvements.

Eddie and his crew were excellent! We hired them to grade our backyard, build retaining walls, and install a fence. They completed the job quickly and efficiently! Really happy with my new patio, stairs and railing. Eddie got his crew out within a week to do the work and they were skilled and fast. The crew took care to move the plantings to suitable spots even when they had to re-dig a huge hole for a butterfly bush when they found concrete under the soil in the original spot. Very pleased, will be using them again in the future to finish the veneer on the house foundation.

H&M Construction did high-quality work and finished the project on time. The crew was respectful, hardworking, and accommodating. However, I felt rushed into making decisions without enough time to weight options. While the final result was solid, the process could have been more collaborative. That experience makes me hesitant to fully recommend H&M Construction.

Eddie and Lou, from H&M are great. Wonderful to work with. Fair priced and the work is excellent. Very quick turn around on my driveway. Work was started Tuesday finished by end of day Friday. I highly recommend them for any projects you may have.

Hiring this thief was the worst decision of my life. DO NOT HIRE HIM! He not only did a terrible job on our bathroom remodel, but he was very rude, disrespectful and kept adding $$$ to the job (which he never finished!). H&M was phenomenal and so reliable-- I could not recommend them enough! Eddie came out to give me an estimate and was very thorough in what would be done. The crew was extremely hard working, very neat, and meticulous with putting in my new interlocking blocks. Every step of the way Eddie stayed in contact with me to send pictures and update me on the progress.
During the process, Eddie and crew went above and beyond with their work. When the work was done, they walked me through the final work and did a great job cleaning up. H&M transformed my ugly backyard into a beautiful entertainment space right on time for barbeque season and it was a pleasure doing business with them!

This guy Eddie is quick to take your money but not to do the job hired for and when mastakes are made by his people he wants you to pay to correct them I would not recommend him. It clarify he is probably great at driveways and roofs but interior work is not his specialty. If the job was to hard you should have declined. Would have more respect for the company.

4. Dug out and regraded our driveway
5. Replaced our existing French drain with a much more efficient means of drainage
6. Took our garage down to the studs and replaced it with new framing, new floor, new lighting and new outlets

Their customer service is fantastic and beyond anything we could imagine. When we text or email a question or request, there is an immediate response from Eddie. We are never in the dark about what is being done and what is going to be done. Any issues or concerns we have are immediately addressed and taken care of immediately.

Quality of Work
Second to none! The workmen arrive on time (sometimes early) and get right to work. They produce high quality results in the minimum amount of time.

Overall, we cannot recommend H&M Construction enough. Next year we’re hiring them for more work on our home and could not be more excited.

Highly recommended. Eddie and his team were great. I reached out inquiring about repairs and reconstruction for 125 feet of retaining wall and 3 window wells. Eddie arrived within 1 hour to assess the job and provided me with a quote that day. His first quote beat 3 others. His crew were onsite in a matter of days and finished the job ahead of schedule. Eddie promised me they would be in and out in 3 days. They were done in 2 and a half. His crew were polite and respectful and well qualified. The cherry on top was how diligent they were with the clean-up and restoration of my property. Everything was left as they found it or better. Great job overall.

Eddie and his team provided a much- needed overhaul of our backyard deck, replacing it with an outdoor patio that totally transformed our outdoor space. it's become a space that we love to spend time in, and literally changed our summer life for the better.

This was a few years ago.

In the time since, Eddie and the team have continued to stand behind their work, quickly investigating and addressing occasional issues that we would notice and bring to their attention. We couldn't be happier with what they built for us and continue to enjoy it every season!

My husband and I purchased our home in August and immediately knew we wanted to pave the gravel driveway and redo the landscaping and stonework. We met with Eddie and he was by far the best! He made suggestions - like pushing the retaining wall out 2 feet so the drive way is now a true 2 car width and increasing the depth of the stairs down to things like what types of stone to use so they don’t get slippery. His pricing is fair, his team is extremely efficient and he makes smart suggestions so you get the best result possible. He’s not pushy, so easy to work with and treats your house as if it were his own.

We hadn’t planned on doing any interior renovations, but had no choice after a chimney fire in December. We also trusted Eddie and his team to rebuild inside and it was totally seamless and stress-free. They patched up the hole in the ceiling from the fire, painted, replaced the wood floor, insulated and put plywood in our attic for extra storage and replaced our entire roof. We really can’t say enough good things about H&M Construction. A one stop shop for quality home improvement.

I contacted H&M (Eddie) to do some stonework on the front of my home and within a week from our initial meeting it was completed, done by courteous professionals and looks absolutely amazing. I couldn't be happier. I had a bit of an emergency in that water damage was causing concrete blocks at the top of my building to separate at the corners and I was concerned about structural integrity and the possibility of further damage. I looked to Google for masonry contractors in the Paterson area and H&M Construction was amongst the choices. Let me first say that the job is done and some of the other four contractors I reached out to still haven't called. Eddie was the opposite. He contacted me very quickly and made an appointment for an estimate a few days later. However, he later contacted me and asked if it he could come that day since he would be in the area. Absolutely. Eddie climbed the building and Face Timed me to show me the problem which were the masonry caps on top that had all come loose and were allowing water into the block. We agreed upon a price and he started several days later. While on the roof, (flat rubber roof) he showed me how bad it was and we agreed on a full roof replacement. He completed both projects within a few days. I was so happy with the professionalism and quick response that I opted for some cosmetic stucco work on the building as well. Now I have a building in great shape and a happy tenant. We all know that honest, quality, and responsive contractors are a rarity these days, but Eddie and H&M are the welcome exception to that. I have a few more future projects that I'll be considering H&M for as well.

3/13/2024- Second review-

I used Eddie and his crew for a much larger second project and am just as happy as I was with the first one. Eddie does what he says and his crew is on the job site everyday until finished, not one of these contractors who "bounces around" from job to job constantly. This project involved an entire new roof (old roof collapsed), framing, foundation and cinderblock work, yard cleanup, painting, and a full roof replacement on the adjacent building as well. All work was done in 3.5 weeks!! Eddie's communication is also excellent. We had to consult on some aspects while I was out of the country and he was always a text away. Can't say enough good things !!

Reached out to Eddie, picked up on the first ring and was out to my house for an estimate the next morning. The crew arrived exactly when they promised and completed two days of work in half the time.

Update: brick chimney 'repair' was completely inadequate. Bricks were not replaced, rather cement was slapped on top which has since begun to crumble & fall off. Fine for simpler jobs, but would not suggest brick pointing from this company.
