Gilbert & Son Moisture, Mold & Foundation

Easy 5 stars. They're knowledgeable and efficient, honest and fair, and genuinely want to take care of you. We had some strong odors in the house that we couldn't pinpoint, and while they suggested we do air sampling (which can be relatively pricey), they came in and knew exactly what the issue was – saved the air sampling. They'll be following up in August as a courtesy, and I appreciate that they almost want to do a good enough job that you never have to call them again.

Super professional and quick. I needed a new vapor barrier and some insulation repaired due to rodents getting into the crawlspace. Impressed by the no nonsense approach to doing business!

Gilbert & Son did an awesome job fixing my crawl space moisture problems and the resulting damage to our home. I was concerned about hiring any contractor for fear of being upsold. Fortunately this was not the case with them. I feel like they repaired what was needed and did so in a timely manner. The guys are very respectful and Mike (owner) explained needed repairs in great detail. I was referred to them by a family member that had a similar experience. I highly recommend them.... but only if you want needed repairs to be taken care while not getting ripped off!

Wow! I can't say enough about how wonderful Mike, Justin and Chris were to work with. Small locally based business that treats you like you are family! Mike was very prompt with all communication and scheduling and a complete professional. Very thorough inspection and only recommended what was absolutely necessary and did not try to upsell me on anything. The techs arrived on the date and time that was quoted and were very professional. All work was performed beyond expectations, at a reasonable rate and they did a great job cleaning up behind themselves. If you need any work done under your home, I cannot recommend Gilbert & Son more highly!

I had bought a home 5 months prior to contacting Gilbert and Sons. Prior to purchasing, I had some concerns and had several inspections done regarding the foundation under the crawl space of the house. Each time there was an issue, and they said it was fixed, but eventually the inspectors said all problems were fixed and we purchased the home. However, a week after we moved our belongings in, I notices cracks going up from the doorways, the baseboards were separating from the floors, some "bounciness" in the floors and a very soft spot in the dining room. Needless to say, I was in panic mode.
I called 5 different high rated companies for estimates based on references. I had estimates from 12000 to 75000, trying to sell me things that I don't need and didn't ask for, by people who would not even be doing the actual job.
GIlbert and Sons was different. The young man that did the estimate listened, questioned and was one of the actual people who would be doing the work and knew exactly what I needed
done! He made suggestions for improvements in the future if I chose to do and took pictures of things the others did not. He did not try to sell me things or advertise products I don't need or show me finance plans! (Red Flag there!) Mike (the owner) came to the house shortly after to introduce himself and to verify that this estimate was correct.
Long story short, I selected Gilbert and Sons based on several factors, but foremost, his honesty and sincere concern for me, the client. Mike's crew of 3 worked diligently, professionally, respectfully and explained everything they were doing along the way, even when I had excessive questions. They even cleaned up everything better than they found it.
I had the work done in November and all is perfect so far. There are no cracks, no soft spots, the floor is solid and meets the baseboards. My house is secure. If I ever need to have any additional work done under the house, it will be Gilbert and Sons.

I received a call from a tenant in a rental property that I managed on November of 2012. She was complaining of having numerous allergies and head colds. She also could see mold growing on some of the walls inside of her house. I went there the following day and I could see that there was definitely mold growing in the house. I was referred to Mike Yurcak of Gilbert & Son who came right over and inspected the home from the attic to the crawl space. He determined that the source of the moisture was a missing vapor barrier on the ground inside of the crawl space. I learned from Mike that the air inside of the crawlspace commonly flows from the crawlspace into the home bringing with it all kinds of nasty things including mold. That is what was happening here. Mike's crew got to work cleaning and removing the mold inside of the house. They installed a 6 ml vapor barrier covering the entire crawl space floor thus removing the source of moisture that was allowing the mold to grow. But that wasn't all. Mike then sealed all the crawl space vents except for one, and that one was hooked up to a low voltage fan which pulled the air from the crawl space to the outside. This ingenious system was now reversing the flow of air from the inside of the house through the crawl space and then outside. No more nasty and moisture ladened air was able to enter the home from the crawl space any more. After the work was performed, the tenant reported that all of her respiratory symptoms were cleared up. She also told us that the air inside of her home seemed cleaner and drier and that it was easier to heat and cool the home.
That was 12 years ago. Fast forward to today, as I am writing this, March 12, 2024, the system continues operating as designed...a clean and dry home interior and crawl space!!!
Mike and his company, Gilbert & Son continue to perform high quality work today.

I am in the property management business and have managed hundreds of homes in our area. I have dealt with a lot of moisture, termite, crawlspace and structural repair companies, so I am very experienced in this space. Hands down, Mike and Gilbert and Sons are the best in the business.

The issue with this type of business is that most people never go in their crawl space. There are companies that will quote you many thousands of dollars for repairs or treatments that may or may not be needed. 99 times of out a 100, a homeowner would not even go under to see for themselves. The industry is setup to deceive homeowners.

Mike is the opposite. He has done many jobs for me. Very often, he will tell me nothing is needed. He could easily tell me i need this or that service, and i would believe him. He doesnt do that. He is beyond honest and fair with his prices. I cant recommend him enough

It's refreshing to actually be able to talk to the owner of a company! Mike and his team came out and conducted a thorough review of our crawlspace (beyond what was noted in our inspection report) and provided an itemized invoice so we could see exactly what the total cost included. Additionally, Mike took the time to speak to me about the issues and educate me on what was required. He made himself available to answer any questions from potential other estimates. Mike kept me updated every step of the way and sent pictures of the completed work. They also offered to come back to check on everything in a couple of months. I have been trusting Mike and Paul with my home for years now. Due to the age of our home and its dual crawlspace -- as well as some bad dealings with unreputable "mold companies"-- Mike and Company have had to do more remediation and drying work on our home than initially expected. But Mike treats us like family, and our home like his own. He is honest, professional, will not rip you off, only does work required, not scared to roll his sleeves up and get dirty, and is a true mold remediation expert. Gilbert and Son was the only company that was honest and told me I didn’t have a moisture problem. Pricing was much better than expected for the work performed. We had them install 33 tons of sand under our house because the builder did not back fill it like they should have. I figured I would have sand all over my yard and wife’s flowers, but that wasn’t the case. Super neat and clean install. Mike didn’t try and scare us into an encapsulation or work not needed like the other companies. Give these guys a call you won’t be disappointed.

We had problems in our crawl space, we had mold and other problems, I called Gilbert & Sons, Mike came over and gave me an estimate, his estimate is so much better than the other company. Mike is very honest and his employees were very polite, respectful, on time and most importantly, they did an excellent job.I highly recommend this company. They deserve 10 stars.

Had some structure issues in my crawl space so originally I called a local termite company, they came out and said I had a eight rotted beams and a bunch of broken floor joists. They gave me a $20,000 estimate so I called Gilbert and Son for a second opinion. The owner Mike came out and looked in the crawl space and informed me that I had one rotted beam and two broken floor joists and then explained why that was causing my floor to sink. They were able to fix everything and install a new vapor barrier for under five grand. I’m so happy I called them and escaped being ripped off by the termite company. The technician Paul and his helper were very clean and professional and did a wonderful job. Highly recommend this company. Keep up the great work guys!
