We have been very pleased with the quality of the work from Franca as they've replaced siding with Hardyboard and put in new windows. They have also been flexible with us on timing as we have been doing the house in stages.

It is so upsetting to end our relationship with Franca on such a negative note. After 2 great projects they have completely abandoned us. We tried to start a project in the beginning of January and had issues with payments and no communication on timing or if our door was even made. Our phone calls and emails have been ignored and for almost 6 months saying they “will call us back”. At this point we are begging for our money back. I’d recommend spending yours elsewhere.

We hired Franca Services after the purchase of a new home that needed to be completely painted, ceilings, walls, trim, railings and doors. They were able to complete the job quickly and the house looks brand new. Pricing was competitive and easy to understand exactly what was being completed. The team at our home was able to communicate what they were working on each day and worked around our toddlers schedules making a much easier transition for the whole family. The crew was clean, quick and went above and beyond for us even replacing door hardware. We will be hiring them again for future projects and highly recommended them to anyone.

I couldn’t have had a better contractor. I will recommend David over & over again. Not only is David the best but everyone who works for him is so knowledgeable. You can ask anyone a question and they will know what are they talking about. Construction is not an easy process, there is going to be bumps in the road due to external factors. David will be there every step of the way and will answer every call. We had major reconstruction on our first floor so kitchen & living room and it looks amazing.

We hired Franca Services to redo the siding on our house and a fix and paint a deck. Overall, I would say the work was good but the experience was not. I would not use them again but instead would recommend you reach out to the subcontractor (who did the actual work and did a great job) called Smart Siding. The project management from Franca on this was abysmal. After many missed start dates with no communication from them, we had to threaten to leave to get them to even start our project. They were unapologetic. Again, the workers from Smart Siding themselves were great and I think they did a great job. They showed up on time every day and worked all day. They fixed problems in the end that the project manager from Franca had failed to communicate to them. Even at the end of the project, Franca tried to collect money before it was due and gave us a hard time about 'needing to pay the guys' as if it was my fault that they hadn't actually finished the project. They sent bills that were the wrong amount. Not to mention we ended up cancelling the deck work because they delayed starting it so long that it became winter and not doable. Again they did not apologize and still sent me a bill as if they had done the work!! They also did not communicate that they would take down cable wires from the house but would not put them back up. Good luck getting the cable company you don't get service from to come to your house and fix the wires. I would say if you can find a company with better communication reviews, I would just go with them instead. Or, if Smart Siding will work directly with you, I would definitely recommend them.

I hired Franca Services to replace my deck; the old deck hadn't been flashed properly and water was intruding into the side of the house. I consulted three companies; Franca gave me the best price and I was impressed by the level of detail and professionalism in their bid, so I went ahead with them. In general I was very happy with their work - their communication was good, they used top-quality materials for the deck even when it wasn't specified in the contract, they managed the whole job with minimal damage to the surrounding plants (this was quite challenging, as I have a small and densely-planted yard in Cambridge), they cleaned out all the rot from the side of the house and did a very solid repair+flashing job, and the final ipe deck looks great.

The only reason this review is four stars not five is that I did have to correct them a few times. For example, at one point in the project they told me the city code required the stairs to be widened, which would require removing some established shrubs. I asked them to double-check this with the city before taking out any plants, and it turned out they were wrong and the original stair width was fine. Later on, they initially charged me double the correct price for the extra work to remove and repair the rotted areas (they charged me for 40 hours of work, when that part of the job was finished inside one workday and there were only two workers present); when I queried it, they corrected the hours (to 10 hours x 2 workers) and the price. The good news was that they didn't get defensive when questioned, and they were happy to check and make corrections when they were wrong.

I would happily recommend Franca Services for outdoor carpentry, in particular deck work, and I intend to reach out to them again when I need more exterior work done. I already recommended them to my neighbors, and I believe they're also happy with their new deck (it looks great from next door!) My one caution would be to carefully check any changes/charges that aren't detailed in the original contract, as sometimes their workers and supervisors do make mistakes.

I've been chasing Alan for a few weeks for a proposal and still haven't gotten a response. I haven't even hired them yet and they're completely unresponsive. I can only imagine how difficult it would it be to get them to actually do the work. I give up. Going elsewhere.

We hired them last year to expand our deck. They were friendly and responsive, right up until we gave a deposit. Then they were hard to get in contact with and delayed the project for months (deposit in Apr/May, work started in Sept). They tore down our existing deck and then didn't come back for a week, we finally found out that our project manager, who promised to communicate every step of the way, went on paternity leave. After they got started, work was halted once again because they hadn't ordered enough cross beams. Then it was delayed again because they hadn't ordered enough side rails. At the end of the project we had to remind them that we had contracted, and paid, for under skirting. Once everything was finished we had to wait again because they hadn't ordered the replacement siding tiles that broke during demolition. Clean up was also less than stellar(we still have broken tiles on the ground under the deck). Now the door to access under the deck is breaking. We reached out to them over a week ago but have gotten no response. We are pleased with the deck itself but would not recommend them.

I hired Franca Services to install 9 windows and replace vinyl siding on my house and garage with Everlast siding. They replaced the windows and stripped the siding off my house and garage. Then the project was delayed for 2 weeks because they said the siding was a special order. I signed the contract 6 months earlier. Then half way thru the project they ran out of siding. Another 2 week delay. Most of the siding came out good except for one wall on my garage.The siding has large gaps at the joints and where it goes in the J channel. Called several times and just get the run around.

I used Franca services to replace my front porch and the process was frustrating. I sent in the deposit in January and in April I followed up to get an idea on the timing. I was told a project manager would reach out to me in the coming weeks to schedule. No one reached out so a few weeks later I followed up again. I was given the run around. I did not understand why they couldn’t give me an update on timing. After multiple follow ups the project manager finally called me and told me they would come out on Saturday to demo my existing porch. On Saturday nobody showed up and there was no further communication. The following week, they did come out and demo my old porch and then never came back for 2 weeks. They are not proactive in communication. I understand there are circumstances that can come up to delay projects but communication would have helped. Finally after over a month they completed the project and the work was just okay. I was not impressed.

These guys give you a quote and stick to it. They painted an apartment for me and it looks like it did when I first bought it. Very professional, on time, great communication.

We reached out to Franca Services in June 2022 as we wanted a fixed portico structure above our patio doors. Steve G. came to our home, gave a quote, appeared amenable that they could build this, and we signed a contract and put a deposit down within a week of meeting them. Unfortunately, the only thing they did quickly was deposit the money that we put down for the project, and it was all downhill from there. What proceeded at first was two months of emailing and asking when the project would be started. (Admittedly, our own green mistake was signing a contract without a start date and end date). 2.5 months later, in September 2022, the "project manager" Wagner finally came out to our home to view the area, assess, and make a plan for the project. After that visit, it was another month of inconsistent emails with Wagner, asking for any type of update or plan on when the project would start. At the start of October, a team comes out to build our portico but showed up prepared to build a rolling awning and not the fixed portico that had been described on the first visit with Steve, listed in the original contract created 4.5 months prior, and then described again to the "project manager" when he came by for the first time in September 2022. But somehow, in all this time, a rolling awning was the plan they had created. The workers left that day having done nothing because they weren’t instructed correctly, and then Franca essentially ended all communication after the second week of October 2022. After another month of multiple calls, emails, and texts to get our deposit back because it was clear they were not working with us anymore, we sent a demand letter in November 2022. After 30 days of continued non-response, we filed a small claim with the Framingham court in December 2022 to then have a mediation court date scheduled, and it wasn't until this time when they were notified of legal action that we finally got our refund check in the mail. A complete waste of time over 7 months. Truly awful communication and a general lack of professionalism. Please look elsewhere and protect yourself from situations and companies like this.
**As an addendum, since the company has now listed an untrue response to it on 1/17/23. As I state in this review above, it was listed in the contract we created in June to build a fixed portico structure. They showed up in October ready to build a rolling awning, which was never our request. So, this "change" they had to deal with was because of their incompetency. It's also interesting how they state that there were weather delays, as we witnessed them for four months building a patio and porch structure across the street from our home. We never once got any emails or communications stating weather delays. Their response to this review is a complete fabrication, outside of that yes, we did get our refund back after filing a small claim.

Overall awful. Work wasn’t done well and was left incomplete. Told us several times it would be fixed but they never came back. Just giving us the run around. The first day they dropped workers off to do concrete with no equipment. They got a trash bag from me and used it to mix the concrete.

From my first meeting with David Franca in spring 2022, I felt that he understood what I wanted and could do it well. The work his crew did to replace the failing clapboards at the rear of house then prime and paint them was so impressive that I asked for an estimate to paint my entire 1895 Victorian home.

Over 2 weeks beginning in June 2022, his crew scraped, caulked, primed and painted the whole house. They staged the ladders carefully to insure safety for themselves and protection for windows, especially impressive since the surrounding ground sloped down on one side.

The crew arrived on time each day, cleaned up every bit of debris before leaving each day. Each man was friendly, worked purposefully, and paid attention to detail to get the job done right.

The crew chief answered every question I asked. I knew the whole crew by name after a few days.

When I asked for suggestions about adding an accent color, Mr Franca suggested a great color, suggested using it around each window molding. It had just the effect that I wanted, makes my house look proud.

At the painting neared completion, Mr Franca sent another crew that did a first rate job installing aluminum gutters around the the rear of my house, fabricating the gutters on site and installing with expertise in one day.

They gave my house a lot of love and it looks it.
My house looks fabulous.

We hired Franca to build a new stairway / landing on the front of our home this past summer.

We are very pleased with the outcome; the job was completed and it looks beautiful!
We did have some delays, mainly due to availability of product and getting a permit for the project.

We waited 3 month for our double door it was the wrong size. It had transom attached and it was adjusted to make it fit. W now had two pieces. First the transom was installed backwards. They were slow to fix. Then it was installed upside down. Still slow the make repair. While installing the glass broke. Accidents happen??
We waited for the new transom a few weeks glass. That went okay even for the most part. after sending registered letters they finally sent someone out to fill holes.and were suppose to come back and finish. Finally my husband finished their job for them and painted the door. When we got the final bill they said they hoped we were happy with their services.The staff was very nice Their work was sub par. No, I was not happy and would not use them again for anything. They need to work on their customer service.

Franca Services performed siding, trim and window replacement to the front of our barn, then finished the project by painting the new work. It was done professionally and promptly, only delayed by supply chain issues, and original project manager not estimating siding requirements properly (he is no longer with Franca). Once construction started, the work progressed well, the workers were attentive to the needs of the boarders and the horses. The siding shortage did result in a brief, but understandable pause, and a solution was worked out. The project had some tricky details, and the crew handled all of them to our great satisfaction, the job looks great. The front of the barn is good for another 40 years!

I had Franca Services replace the shake on two thirds of my house with clapboard and then repaint the whole house.

The deck looks great and we have had it for a few months now and it still looks great. The crew building the deck was discrete and friendly. The experience was good. The only problem we had is that they changed project manager a couple times during the project which has causes some issues and some errors in the schematics, but it was resolved to our expectations. We just had to talk to the owner (who is not much available to talk to customers) to finally get this resolved. I recommend them anyway, they did some good work.

We interviewed five different painting companies, and decided to hire Franca Services to paint our three-story home and garage, as well as perform some carpentry work on the balcony railings and front steps. We were a little nervous, given that Franca’s bid came in substantially lower than the other four firms — more than $20,000 less than the highest bid! — but based on meeting David Franca and working with his office, they seemed to be a good fit for our project.

We are nothing short of thrilled with the work. The crew thoroughly power-washed, scraped, sanded, and primed before painting, and the final result is absolutely beautiful. I was especially pleased with their care and attention to detail with the trim. When we asked them if they could re-hang our mailbox a bit lower than their original height, they filled in the old holes and left it looking good as new.

Unlike other contractors we’ve worked with, Franca stuck by their original estimate, and given the amount of rotting boards they found and replaced on our balcony, the price for materials and labor was fair. After we completed an addition, we hired Franca services to replace our old chipped wood siding and trim with hardie plank siding and PVC trim. Our house is old and 3 stories so there are a lot of angles and unique spots. Franca came in and did a tremendous job. We did this work from Jan-Feb, the team was here every day at 630am before it was bright out and left when it got dark, they worked through brutally cold days and the end result was amazing.
