Each of the Evergreen representatives, from Irene Flynn to the guys that showed up to do the work, were punctual, knowledgeable and thoroughly professional. Not only did they do the work as contracted, but pointed out some other concerns, including an abandoned oil tank that was rusting through and could have caused a spill and groundwater contamination if not promptly addressed, which we did. Great resource for home improvements; we'll use them again in the future.

Evergreen applied a spray-foam insulation in our old, field stone cellar. Additionally, they applied blown-in insulation in our attic crawl space. They performed a blower test prior to and after the insulation jobs, and these two simple insulations reduced our heat loss from our home by over 34%! I can't believe what an incredible difference this makes in reducing our use of the furnace for heating! And our house now feels warm; no sense of freezing floors or drafts in upstairs. Wow.
The company is very professional in all aspects: assessment, scheduling, performance of contracted work, and most amazingly, they cleaned up after themselves!!! I've never had work-folk do that before. Finally, they did all of the work to apply for and have us receive the Maine Efficiency Rebate for our work. I am very satisfied, indeed.

The Evergreen team (Richard and Sam) were very courteous, professional, and pleasant to work with. There were some obstacles with installation at my very old (not square) walls but brilliant installation solutions did not impede the projected completion.

Though at first glance, the estimate seemed expensive, I realize the care and attention to detail was well worth the cost.

I do not have enough good things to say about Evergreen. I purchased a not so quite year round neglected pond house a few years back, and each year I've had them here doing something critical - cellulose and sealing in the attic, sill insulation, foam board ceiling to floor on the basement/downstairs walls, replaced all the windows, including the basement ones, all the doors... the list goes on. An absolutely invaluable service backed by responsible and reliable professionals.

Evergreen just spent the three hottest days of the summer so far installing blown-in insulation in my 150 year old house! They were professional and somehow in great spirits the entire time despite the 90+ degree temps all day. A pleasure to work with! I can tell already how well the house is staying cool during the day.

After years of battling water in our basement, it is a huge relief to be able to ignore it! We got quotes from other similar businesses which were significantly more- Evergreen did only what was necessary and didn't try to sell us anything else. The crew answered all our questions, arrived when they said they would, were pleasant and courteous. They even followed up with an on-site inspection to make sure all was functioning properly. Evergreen was very user friendly to work with. communication was great. They came in and did what they said they would do when they said they were going to do it. We had weatherproofing and insulation done under our kitchen. Our friend who frequently comes over mentioned she no longer felt the cold draft moving across her feet! we have noticed the kitchen being warmer and also the furnace coming on less frequently.

Just over one year ago, Evergreen completed a basement insulation and an attic insulation project on our home. One year later, I am glad to report that these projects were really successful. We absolutely loved our experience with Evergreen. The team was incredibly kind, professional and great to work with. We're very impressed with the quality of work of the Evergreen team and how easy they made everything! Our house had barely any insulation ahead of this project and the results are amazing. Insulating the attic, walls and basement with Evergreen allowed us to tear a 50 year old furnace, ductwork and oil tank out of the basement and now heat the home with new heat pumps. Evergreen also added 100 sq ft of clean, new storage space to the attic!

Evergreen made the big project completely stress free and enjoyable. They were clean and very safe with Covid. We greatly appreciated all of the safety and health precautions the team took during the pandemic!

I was very impressed by the professionalism of this company and the workers. My attic is now snug and warm and I've noticed that the second floor is warmer as well.

Our basement was the eyesore of the house. I wanted to make improvements, but first needed to make structural, insulating and moisture mitigation improvements. Evergreen was professional and competent taking on a complex project of not only encapsulation and insulation of basement and crawlspace, but completed needed improvements to the structural integrity of the wood floor platform above a crawlspace and brought in a concrete contractor to pour where there was once a rotting, tiered wood platform - replacing that area with a more functional and tight tiered concrete area. Their work allow me to finish off a basement area that is now a pleasure to enter, including a finished multi-purpose room.

We noticed immediate improvement in moisture this summer, with an estimated dehumidification energy reduction of 2/3 and we're sure there will be heating efficiency gains as well. Thanks to all the crew members at Evergreen - well done!

Working with Brian and with Nate and the rest of the crew was a pleasure. They made everything very easy and understandable. This was a major renovation and they were always at the ready with a lot of information.. We had extensive renovation on the basement which was a dirt basement and it came out beautifully. We can already tell from all of the insulation work what a difference it's made in sound and temperature. Brian worked with me on the rebates that are available when you do this kind of work. My experience with Evergreen was excellent. From their thorough and thoughtful initial consultation to their detailed post-work visit, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and responsive. The crew members from Evergreen Home Performance each made sure to greet us every day, while maintaining their distance in this time of pandemic. Their work took a total of nine days, spread over three weeks. Even though they were working in multiple rooms of our house, as well as the basement and attic, they were unobtrusive and always cleaned up after themselves every day. The on-sight manager kept us informed of their daily schedule so we’d know which parts of the house they’d be working on.

We were impressed with the quality of their work and their willingness to take time to explain anything we had questions about. In particular, when they delved into the innards of our house, places that hadn’t seen the light of day in decades, they occasionally came across things that weren’t quite right. For example, the bathroom fan was improperly vented in the attic. Although it was outside their immediate job description, they brought it to our attention and proposed alternative solutions for us to consider.

The supervisor, who had drawn up the original work specifications with our input, came back after the job was finished. We walked around with him as he inspected and approved of all the work, as well as answered our questions. This follow-up is an important final check and a practice many contractors could benefit from.

They did a great quanity of dense packing cellulose to improve our home (both for energy efficiency and for sound insulation) and it was totally successful. They are on-time, helpful, and caring. They clean up to a level that can't be over emphasized. This was the second time we employed them and we'd use them again if the opportunity came. You'll not be sorry to select Evergreen.

I made the mistake of NOT hiring this company last year when I bought and renovated my home. I have brought them in now and what a difference. This group knows what they are doing. They take a complete look at everything and believe they can make your home more energy efficient. They are very professional in the way they approach the problems and solutions. And they find ways to save me money. Don't bother with anyone else. Bring Evergreen in before you do anything. Let them assess your issues and give you the right solutions. I won't have anyone but Evergreen handle my insulation and other energy efficiency needs from now on.

This team of individuals were professional at all times. They set up barriers which kept the dust at a minimum. They conducted an air flow audit and cut the draft circulation from the outside in half by sealing cracks. They hauled out the old insulation and replaced it with blown in insulation with a R - 60 Value. They also did the rebate paperwork so that I could get my $1500.00 rebate from the state of Maine. We needed basement encapsulation to stop moisture coming up into the house from our regularly flooding basement. We had mold growing on windowsills and furniture. All the staff were friendly, respectful of our home, and easy to work with. Humidity has gone from 70% down to 40% and mold has not grown back after two months. Very grateful.

The Evergreen Team did a fabulous job and were very tuned and responsive to the particular needs we had. The job was done right on budget and we are thrilled with the improved warmth and energy efficiency.

My husband and I bought a home on the water in Owls Head and decided to make the investment in Evergreen's recommendations for insulation. Brian Robinson spent 3 hours examining every nook and cranny before he made practical suggestions and explained them thoroughly to us.
When the team came in to do the work--with Joel leading--they couldn't have been more professional at every step. Clean and courteous. When the job was complete, they filed all the paperwork we needed to get state rebates. The result? I recently had a houseful of guests when the temperature dropped and the winds raged. Everyone remarked how comfortable the house felt at 68 degrees. It really feels like they reversed the aging of our house, and that we're now living in a well-constructed, luxury hotel. I'm writing this in the middle of a snowstorm and the house feels tight as a drum! Evergreen is one of those investments that you can't see, but you can certainly feel! Worth every dime.

Evergreen came back this year to finish insulating our house. We have been remodeling and renovating an 1850s cape for several years. Their employees are very professional and pleasant to deal with. Over several years Brian Robinson has been able to schedule us in for several small areas that needed addressing and finally turning a room we used to close off in the winter into a comfortable usable space. We primarily heat with wood and since Evergreens great work our furnace has only come on ONCE this winter. Fantastic. Really satisfied customer in Thomaston.

I used to spend winters in the bathtub because my house was so cold. This was my first winter roaming around my whole house comfortably. This even led me to decorate a little. My heating oil usage has been reduced by over a quarter: I rarely have to boost the thermostat because the temp stays at a constant. The Efficiency Maine rebates, together with the energy savings, make it affordable for me to pay for the loan I took out to finance the project. I do not worry about my pipes freezing. The house is also quiet: no more mice running around in the walls and ceiling - the cellulose successfully repelled them after several weeks. That is huge too! My basement quickly dried out and the foam on the walls also reassures me when the ground is water-logged. I suspect the insulation will also help to reduce swings in humidity levels which is good for my pianos.

I highly recommend this company’s work. If you’re going to insulate your house, might as well do it right. Brian and Joel were fantastic (attention to detail and communication) and the mess was minimal. The crew was so discreet. They clearly out-perform other contractors during the interview process by using an energy audit to determine a plan and give a cost estimate (which they stuck to). Brian has a scientific approach to understanding how to make your house air tight. Other contractors failed to recommend air sealing or even noticed the attic above the front porch (which I did not know about).

Additional thought: insulating an older home is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint vs. building a new energy-efficient home because it requires a lot of energy to make new materials.

In the final stages of selling our home, and with a closing date set, an inspection came across an unanticipated issue in our attic. We quickly called in contractors, but nobody was able to identify the source of the problem. Then we thought of Evergreen. Brian Robinson was on site the next morning and immediately identified the source (a faulty roofing job completed three years earlier which had effectively sealed up portions of the ridge vent and restricted air flow - not easily visible with a quick inspection).

A mid-winter fix was anything but easy and required coordination between multiple contractors to correct the issue, including both interior and exterior work in sub-zero weather outside and cramped work spaces inside – all within a very limited time frame. We are so lucky to live in Midcoast Maine with local companies who are responsive and responsible and who care about their work and their clients. Evergreen is no exception.

Evergreen quickly identified the problem, helped plan the corrective actions needed, carefully coordinated their work with the other contractors, and fit us into an extremely busy schedule to complete all work necessary within the allotted amount of time. Our closing was only delayed by one day.

It was clear during this entire process that all of the contractors that we dealt with had such respect for Brian, his team, and Evergreen. From the folks who cleaned to the insurance adjuster, everyone followed their lead.

Really questionable billing practices. The first estimate charged me for work I had already done. The second included wo4k I had told the estimator I was going to do.. The third was almost twice what they had charged a friend of mine for the same job. Evergreen has a reputation for overcharging but providing decent work, but I'm not likely to try again.

We are so pleased with the work the team from Evergreen Home Performance did in our home. The project included encapsulation of our basement with a reinforced vapor barrier, installation of a sump pump, spray foam insulation on the walls and insulation of the heating duct work.

Everyone at Evergreen was friendly and professional. The project was completed on time and in budget.

During the week of May 9th, 2016 Jason, Joel, Steven and Brian did an extraordinary job on insulating our basement here in Rockland, Maine. Their attention to detail and the quality of their work exceeded my expectations. If all Contractors and their workers did such excellent work there would be no complaints by home owners. Not only was their work superior in quality, but all of them were personable, polite, patient and a joy to have around. It was a genuine pleasure to have them in our home and I will welcome them in the future for additional work. Thank you Evergreen for upholding such high standards.

Like me, our 127 year old home had trouble with its temperature:bone cold in winter and sticky hot in summer. So we went looking for help and feel so grateful to have found Evergreen Home Performance. These folk convey a level of professionalism in everything they do that is rarely encountered. This is apparent from the first meeting thru the final walk through.

Every recommendation for improvement is outlined in writing with great detail, including costs. Every improvement we agreed to met or exceeded our expectations. During the installation phase, it came to the installers’ attention that an area being sealed around an old upstairs bathroom exhaust fan might be an issue down the road if we should remodel. If we replaced the fan, it would break the seal they were about to do. Their quick call allowed us to replace the fan before they sealed that area. We were impressed that they were looking ahead to what might be in the future for this home.

We requested our project bid in two sections, the cellar and the attic. When we were unsure of covering the full cost of the project in one year, Evergreen recommended that the cellar work would have the most impact and assured us that the attic could be done at a later time. They also shared with us about low cost financing through Efficiency Maine. In the end, we chose to pay for half out of pocket and to finance the other half. Now our cellar maintains a temp of 60 degrees, even on days when it’s below zero outside. We are using far less oil, which is good for us and the environment. We stayed a lot cooler during those hot months, which saves on electricity, and our indoor air quality has improved.

With help of Evergreens Home Performance, this home has made the leap into energy efficiency for our benefit and for future owners. We recommend Evergreen Home Performance without hesitation.

The team of experts and very hard workers at Evergreen Home Performance are exceptional. They spent a long, hard week retrofitting old insulation, and blowing in densely packed new cellulose insulation (where there was NONE) to improve the energy efficiency and balance in our home. Our experience has been that the entire employee spectrum has been professional, comprehensive and responsive. An old dirt floor cellar of our 150 plus year old farmhouse was transformed from a wet humid moldy environment into a useable dry cellar- We have created a better root cellar ; mold is gone and we are able to actually use the basement space for storage. The difference in comfort in the main part of our house has significantly improved our comfort level.
Its been dollars well spent.

We have had a cold-weather leak in our living room for the last 14 years. After Evergreens' energy audit we learned that the house had an excessive amount of air flowing through it which was creating a condensation problem in our tongue-and-groove vaulted ceiling. There were even places where there was no insulation at all! For our house, the original fiberglass insulation was fished out and cellulose was blown in; we felt an immediate improvement in the upstairs bedroom on the first 90 degree day when that room was noticeably cooler that it had been. They said that we were probably only getting an R-15 insulation value with the fiberglass; no wonder we used so much oil when the snow started flying.
The information Evergreen provided as part of the energy audit was eye-opening for us with respect to what options we had to improve our situation and while the snow is a few months away, we feel confident that the nagging leak will not return. The project team was great. Everything was cleaned up before they left for the day and all the team members were courteous and knowledgeable. We will definitely recommend them to anyone seeking to improve their home performance.
Oh, there's a great side benefit too - the dust in the living room has been reduced drastically by the blown in insulation. Gotta love that on cleaning day!

(Looks like a big part of the ice dam problem came from an adjacent part of the house they hadn't even worked on, yet they took ownership of the problem and fixed it.) Now that it's spring, I wont know how effective the follow-up actually was until next winter, but Richard and his crew responded exactly the way you'd want them to! They're great! <br><br>

UPDATE: I'm lowering my rating from five stars because after a snowfall the ice dams on the back of my house are just as bad as ever, despite the company's promise that they would be "mostly or completely eliminated." Very disappointing!

Winters in our 200 year old house in Kennebunk were drafty, uncomfortable and ridiculously expensive for oil. On the recommendation of a friend, I contacted Evergreen. They began with a thorough energy audit, at no cost. It identified the worst areas for cold infiltration and heat loss. Then they presented a proposal for a three-phase improvement. I tackled one area myself (insulating the basement) and hired them for to seal the attic and a kneewall closet/attic off the master bedroom. Result: a 26% reduction in heat loss. Richard and his work crew were all prompt, pleasant and totally professional. They showed up when they said they would, and completed the project on time and on budget

I would like to recommend to anyone wanting to save money on utility bills (Electric and Fuel) to contact Evergreen Home Performance and have them do an assessment of the efficiency of heating and cooling their home. This company was recommended to us by Efficiency Maine. Older houses like ours are sometimes difficult and costly to heat or cool because of porous foundations, lack of insulation, and drafty windows. Our problems were quickly discovered and we made the decision to follow the recommendations of Brian Robinson. We could not be more pleased with the results. Our electric bill has been reduced by $100. a month and the house is much warmer. Having the furnace ducts wrapped and the stone foundation sealed has made the entire house warmer. While it is too early to tell how much we will save of fuel oil, I expect substantial savings there as well. The furnace does not run nearly as much as in previous years even in the frigid temperatures we recently experienced. I was particularly impressed with the work crew who performed the work quickly and expertly. Thanks and kudos to Michael Bunker. He is a gem.

Richard and his employees met with us to discuss our efficiency goals and give us a sense of the potential for improvements in our home, then conducted a comprehensive audit that provided us with detailed modeling of multiple upgrade scenarios. We settled on a relatively modest set of improvements to our home, built in the 1890s and completely without insulation. The workers were conscientious and unfailingly polite in their work, accommodating the nap times of two small children. The work was top quality, and has transformed the comfort of our home in winter. They also helped guide us through the process of obtaining financing and qualifying for the available incentives. I love this company. Richard came and did a very thorough energy audit and then put together a contract to insulate our attic. After sending the contract to me, he followed up with a call. I explained that I'd been dragging my feet because I was afraid that a referendum in an upcoming election might fail. The referendum was environmental in nature and without it, I didn't feel that our community was a safe place for my family. So Richard offered to draw up a contract that was contingent on the ordinance passing. I was, and still am, amazed by this. I just have to wonder how many business owners would be willing to do this for their customers. I'm guessing not many. But Richard is a person of integrity. I highly recommend this company.

First class organization, very professional. Even with a schedule problem caused by an in-house communication error, they performed very well. They were able to juggle other clients to substantially complete their work to allow another contractor to start and finish as scheduled. Evergreen was chosen based on the presentation of how the work was to be performed rather than the price. The lowest price is rarely an indicator of quality.

We called Evergreen while we were in the middle of a kitchen renovation. Our builder had discovered that we had no insulation in our downstairs walls. Evergreen Home Performance did an energy audit for our old (ca 1885) home in Saco. Using data from the audit, they made an energy model of the house and were able to estimate how much energy savings we could expect for a variety of energy improvement scenarios. By offering us a range of workplans to choose from, they were able to work within our budget to get the most energy savings for the money. All the employees we met were courteous, knowledgeable, and professional and did all their work with cheerful diligence.
