I am only writing this to try to help other people. My daughter had trouble with her truck not going in to reverse sometimes. She took it to Edwards Storm Lake. They told her that while they were diagnosing it stopped going into reverse at all and the transmission pump needed replaced. They gave her an estimate for 2022.29 (parts only) and i estimated labor for her to be a worst case scenario of $2000 so she was relieved to expect around a $4000 bill as opposed to the 9 or 10,000$ that the very rude service advisor had told her to expect.

Then after starting the work they called her and told her they must replace the whole transmission. Could be true, I would have thought the mechanic would have dropped the pan and looked for shavings or severe damage but maybe he or she is an inexperienced tech. Thats fine. They told her that with parts labor and tax everything all in would cost her $7400 from the service manager via phone. I told her the next day this was too much but she had already agreed to it so what do you do.

Now is the part that makes me very angry. When she showed up to get her truck and pay her bill they handed her an invoice for $12,396. She tried to inform them that this wasn't accurate and there must be a mistake but they insisted it was and tried to push one of their high interest loan partners on her so she could make payments. She called me very upset and sent me the invoice. I WILL ATTACH ALL DOCUMENTATION. The first thing that stared me in the face was them charging her a $2000 core fee. I instructed her to ask them why and they said her old transmission was not repairable. They didn't attempt to correct their mistake they chose to repeatedly try to convince her that this was all justified. They also tried to charge her $7597.65 for a remanufactured transmission for her 2014 GMC 1500 which if you do a quick google search you will find from about anywhere for $2300 roughly. Again, they tried to justify this multiple times.

Now the Service manager finally comes out after his subordinates were unable to justify to this young girl these outrageous changes in her bill which he assured her would not happen. He attempted to look mad at the service writers and act as if they had made a mistake.

They removed the $2000 dollar core fee and changed the price of the transmission to a 200% markup instead or a 300% and got it back to the $7337.72 that he had quoted her.

Here is the problem you could tell this was business as usual for these people. They are everything that gives this commission driven industry a bad name. They were perfectly fine with taking advantage of a hard-working young woman who they felt didn't know any better.

Shame on you Edwards Chevrolet GMC Storm Lake I hope people treat your kids better than you treated mine. Be better.

Not super impressed. Took my vehicle in for its first (complimentary) service. Dropped it off at 10:30. The courtesy shuttle dropped me off at my doctor's appointment and picked me back up when I was done. Courtesy shuttle is a piece of crap minivan that is pretty dirty. Driver was nice, though. I get back to the dealership and my truck isn't done until 1:00. On top of that, the tech didn't reset the oil life and didn't top off the DEF, which is a part of the complimentary service. I definitely don't recommend their service department. I see some other people have had issues with the general disorganization of the service department, too.

After a nightmare of a repair, and denying me a loaner, They reflashed my ECU without my consent. That deleted my tune, and have been dodging me on hold when I call. The reflash and tune will cost me $1500 to $1700 to redo. All to avoid the check engine light. Get back to me Edward's. Also I've never purchased a vehicle from then I just know their service department is lacking in terms of communication to say the least.

My experience with Edwards was exceptional. As someone who had never purchased a vehicle online before, I was thoroughly impressed by how seamless the process was. From the outset, my sales associate, Jesse, was prompt, knowledgeable, and ensured that everything moved forward smoothly. The same level of professionalism extended to the back office—Melinda handled the financing and paperwork with ease and clarity. Overall, the entire team at Edwards demonstrated a high level of professionalism and efficiency, making this the most positive dealership experience I’ve had to date.

My wife and I bought a vehicle from them 2 years ago. They screwed up the title and tried to blame us for the mistake, even though we signed as instructed by the dealer. I had to be the one to contact a courthouse and provide a document showing that it is totally legal to amend it and had to give them the correct documents to do so, again...placing the blame for something they did wrong on us. This was also done on the very last day it possibly could be done. Even the courthouse said "they are always late with paperwork" when I told them what dealership it was. They also told us this vehicle came with 2 fobs and then told me they couldn't find it. 2 years and several phone calls later, we still never got the second fob.

Then last night I was in town and wanted to look at a truck that I am considering building. My local dealer doesn't have that model, Edwards did, so I decided to just take a look at something in person before I potentially drop 64 grand on it. I was upfront and honest with the salesman on my intentions and he was helpful. It was the bitter old man at the front counter who yelled at me and my wife and asked "why can't we build the truck for you?" I politely said I just had intended to use my local dealer and he didn't have that truck in stock so I stopped to look at it. The old guy proceeded to tell me that he doesn't let people drive or see vehicle unless they have the potential to buy them. He said he wasn't being rude, just being professional and that if I wanted to look at and test drive a truck then I need to tell my local dealer to "bend over backwards" and get me one. Basically, if Edwards wasn't going to get my money, then I can't see their inventory. Personally, I think if you help a customer in anyway you can now, you invite them to come back later and do business with you. Instead we were shewed out the door by the grump at the front desk. Gladly take my business elsewhere.

I think it would be okay to purchase a vehicle here, BUT NEVER take your car here to get serviced. You can tell that they are VERY unorganized, it took me talking to 5 different people to find someone that knew what was going on with my car. I made an appointment to drop off my car, they wanted it right away at 8am. I dropped it off and it sat in the same spot all day. What’s the point of scheduling out a date, if you’re not gonna organize well enough to get the proper amount of work done. If you have the option, spend your hard earned money to get your car worked on some where else. Also, they don’t update you on anything that’s going on, so you have to call of you want to know. I call about every other day since they have had my car and they are pretty rude and upset when I do this. I just like to know how it is going with the work being done on my car, sorry.

The last 3 time we had oil changes/ tire rotations they didn’t do the rotations at all and if you don’t call and question your bill you are charged. The bill said rotation completed but when I asked they said they couldn’t do a rotation because I needed all 4 new tires. Terrible. Question your bill and mark your tires.

Salesman was really nice. The experience since has been less than acceptable.
New vehicle with non functioning parts.
Parts are said to be back ordered.
They don’t return calls and communication is very poor.
I’m a frustrated customer as is easy to see. I hope things are not this way for others.
There is work to be done at this business and it starts with the management.
Maybe a phone call or something?
Today I was ignored again.
Hence I post this.
Things need to change.

UPDATE!

I want to add to this story.
The manager did call me after this posting.
He apologized and helped to make things right.
Parts came after 2 months and they fixed the issues. The vehicle is now in working condition.
I raised the stars to 4 vs 1.
The parts guy and the salesman were great!
Manager was caring.
GM assigned me a rep and she was ok too.
It was a long ordeal but it is now done.
Thanks to all who helped turn this around.

I want to add to my review today.

Some dealers really push additional services and items to their sticker.
I see $2000 in extra stuff being pushed at a dealership I visited recently.
Edwards doesn’t do this underhanded garbage.
At least I didn’t see it on my purchase.
All to say I am raising my star rating to 5 stars today because of this.

From the very beginning upon reaching out to Edwards Storm Lake, they did a great job. I inquired about a 2024 GMC Acadia AT4 in transit per the GMC build website. I reached out and Caleb contacted me right away in the morning. This was the closets dealership (3 hrs away, one way) i could find with an AT4 optioned the way we wanted it that wasn't spoken for. We worked remotely with a lot of communication on trying to make deal on trading in my 2017 Acadia Denali in on the new AT4, which eventually we did make. Upon arrival, i was greeted at the door. Caleb got right now to it and was ready to go. He also walked me through a lot of new features of this vehicles system. As we walked around, Caleb pointed out before i did all the water spots on the rear hatch. I didn't say anything and he had the detail shop back out there, making sure the car was spotless for my delivery. Fuel tank was full for my 3 hr trip back home. Extremely pleased with the service they provided. One of my top 3 experiences at a dealership as I have purchased many GM vehicles at different dealerships over the years. Great job Caleb and Edwards team.

Got my car in and fixed in a short amount of time everyone I encountered was very friendly . They called me to let me know wat needed to be fixed before I gave them the go ahead to fix it and called me when it was ready for pickup

Bought a used vehicle from them. They let me take the vehicle overnight. When coming back the next day, mentioned a couple issues, one being the drivers window on working properly. Salesman and I agreed that the windows should work when buying a vehicle. Am appointment was made for today. I get there and in told that they are only going to look at it and that that would cost me over $100. Then there would be parts and the labor to install it.
Needless to say, I would not recommend Edwards nor would I ever buy a vehicle from them or go to them for service. I suggest you don't as well.

I dropped off my vehicle this morning ( put keys in Dropbox)for an oil change and they didn't get it done until the afternoon. They said it wasn't in the computer, but I was told that I didn't have to make an appointment for one, also they didn't do a 5 point inspection.

I took my car to Edwards to have a wheel bearing replaced. They also found a loose ball joint. I was also told that it had an oil leak. This needed to have the oil pan and gasket replaced and possibly a rer main seal replaced. I have owned this car for 5 and a half years. It has always been parked on clean concrete. Never has there been one drop of oil on the floor. I had this car sold to someone and they went to Edwards to check on the problem They were also told that it would cost $2000 to fix it. Even if it did have a leak what would you expect from a 10 year old car with140000 miles? If someone wants a perfect car they will need to pay much more than the $500 I was paid for this car! I firmly believe that Edwards planted the oil! I had just changed the oil myself and saw no leaks or problems.. I will never go back!!

I drove down there from Minneapolis as they had a really nice low mile clean used vehicle adverstised on a car shopper app for a great price. The vehicle was true to the pictures and description. (That's not always the case in car shopping) They worked with me on the price as the vehicle had a few very resolvable minor mechanical issues, and the buying experience was excellent. These folks are ethical and low pressure and were great to work with. Even though I live far away I would consider buying a new or used vehicle from them in the future. I highly recommend Edwards.

Purchased a car with very low miles from edwards in June. It’s august and it all ready has issues. Check engine light, air conditioner issues, etc. they love to make money, but they will not take care of customers. This was during the heat advisory too, and we ended up in a dangerous situation in a brand new car from them. It took 3 days of calling them to even get an appointment to get it looked at, 2 weeks out. You’d think they would want to make it right.. they don’t even call back when they say they will. Save your money, value your safety with your purchase of a vehicle, and go somewhere where people still matter more than the bottom dollar. Edwards is not that place.

We learned about this automobile through the internet and conversations on the phone. We put in a hold on the car and made arrangements to meet Eric Garcia at the Dealership. From the minute we arrived we were treated very well and fell for the car right away. The whole process was very streamlined, including the finance department . The finance Department was very informative and explained everything to the fullest. Eric was very helpful in how he explained the cars functions and how to use them.
It was will worth the two plus hour trip to wind up with a wonderful experience.

I took my car to get an oil change and get a call if I want a transmission flush I say no if it's not necessary then what a coincidence that the hoses start leaking after and of course they are not gonna admit they did anything to it just like they lied of the extra warranty when I purchased the new car had my windshield brake from a rock they denied the coverage some one knick my door denied the coverage. I don't recommend anyone buying cars or bringing they car here for services

I discovered a slow leak in a tire on my pickup. Edward's worked me in for service that day, and quickly found a nail in, and repaired, the tire. The service manager and technician were both very courteous and friendly. The bill was quite reasonable. Great job!

Adding on to my review after a late October oil change plus some stuff…These guys continue to do great work and I appreciate that! A nice and tidy waiting area well stocked with treats and drinks is a nice bonus. These guys are straight forward and do a nice job keeping my truck maintained.

I showed up late by an hour and a half but you guys worked me in and did a great job with my truck service. I was offered a ride to go get lunch too! Super awesome customer service.

Recently had some scheduled maintenance work done on my vehicle. Took a little less time than they thought and everything went very smoothly. The documentation correctly listed everything that was done, and was even offered a wash as it had rained when I brought it in. I declined as I prefer to wash/detail my vehicles myself but the offer was very nice. I've always received great service from Edwards in Storm Lake and this visit was no exception.
