Quoted me $1000 for a rear brake job on a 2021 Trailboss....Never in my life have I heard of such a ripoff!!! I payed $200 for a " diagnostic fee" which i already knew what the issue was.. I called a garage down the road from where I was camping and he got me right in and I payed 450 out the door. Don't waste ur time with this place

Avoid this place!!!! not only is the $175 an hour absolutely ridiculous. They tried to charge for a catalytic converter and when we said no, and went to pick it up, they said oh by the way you don’t need a catalytic converter!! So they not only wanted to charge for something I didn’t need And they didn’t inform us on the $175 an hour labor!I’m sure they would’ve sold that for a lot of money, lol! That took five days by the way! They are trying to rip you off as much as they can do not go here!! Scam nothing but a scam. I highly question they’re two battery issue!

What a great visit. John the service manager was knowledgeable, polite and efficient. I like how John is always on top of it. It is night and day between John and the old service manager Buzzle who was a total douche bag and a complete loser. I came close to kicking his ass for being rude to my wife. Darlings has turned it around. Keep John and I'll keep coming. I also appreciate Hank the mechanic who showed me exactly what was up with my truck. What an honest hars working person. Thanks John and Hank, pay these guys more. They are worth their weight in gold. It has a direct effect on sales. Peace. One Love.

The auto mechanics are great. They helped us immensely to fix the rental van when on vacation. The accounting department is horrible. After three months of endless phone call to get an issue resolved with accounting, we filed a complaint with the credit card company and the issue was resolved within days.

Avoid at all costs. Went just to have my transmission looked at. I have a warranty from another Ram dealer. They told me I would need a drive shaft for $4599.50. Then wanted $175 for diagnosis! Took to Midas up the street was U joint cost $85. Either they are crooks or so incompetent that they should not be in business. Horrible experience.

Darling’s Service Center is extremely predatory. I scheduled an appointment with them to diagnose and fix a check engine light.
What I can state as fact is that they charged me a 70% markup on the parts they used to fix my car which is beyond exorbitant. I strongly suspect that they also took longer than was necessary to fix my car in order to charge me more money. They told me it took their technicians an hour and a half to replace one O2 sensor that was easily accessible from the engine bay, and another that was behind an easily removable plastic tray under the car.
I also believe they lied to my face. Darling’s did not ever quote me the price on the parts or an estimation on the cost of the total repair, but when I told them that they insisted they had informed me. I would never have agreed to let them touch my car if I knew what they were charging.
I will never do business with Darling’s again and I recommend never going to Darling’s service center under any circumstances.

Terrible business practices, scammers. Had a service 2 weeks prior to this one where there maintence tech over filled tires by 12 psi, causing them to ride hide in center and wear faster so they can make more money for new tires later. Had a second appointment to find out what the issue was and still they couldn’t figure it out and charged $205 for no repair. Took my truck down the road and they informed me about the tires and fixed it free of charge. Safe to say darlings will never have my business again. So BEWARE of Darlings scamming you.

Exceeded my expectations!
I took my older 2008 BMW 328 I for service. They got me in quickly, but not before telling me they usually don't work on BMW. Because it was a relatively simple job they were willing to replace the pressurized radiator overflow tank. The job was done quickly and the car ran fine however the low coolant light kept coming on and it wasn't losing coolant. I returned and they got me in quickly again but could not solve the problem.
I ended up taking the car to BMW in Westbrook where they notified me that the aftermarket overflow tank was the problem. The sensor in it did not fit properly. Of course I had BMW replace the overflow tank with a BMW tank.
I contacted Darlings (nearly 2 months later from California) and told them what happened, and honestly I expected a refund for the overflow tank because Darling's parts man had told me that if there was any problem, they had a good relationship with Napa Auto Parts, the supplier of the aftermarket overflow tank. Much to my surprise not only did they refund the cost of the overflow tank but they also refunded the labor. This definitely exceeded my expectations and I have told many of my friends about it and they have told me they've been in business for many years and have a great reputation. I'm glad I chose to go to darling's automotive rather than a mom and pop mechanic as I'm sure no one else would have refunded parts and labor in this situation. I did not expect the labor refund. I can't speak highly enough of how pleasant the service manager was throughout the whole problem getting me in quickly two times and then refunding parts and labor without argument, debate, or hesitation. He simply asked me to bring back the old aftermarket tank once I returned from California. I did and the refund check was put in my hand the same day. Thank you so much Darling's. Keep up the great work.

Edit: I did call and they made this situation right. I appreciate the service manager taking the time to talk to me and find a resolution.

Took my jeep here for standard upkeep work and the price was astronomical. We asked them to look at my radio/speakers which had stopped working. They charged us $125 to turn on the radio, tell us it wasn’t working and that they don’t do any radio or speaker work. I’m not sure how at a Chrysler/dodge/jeep dealer with a repair shop, they cant fix your jeep radio or speakers. What if my vehicle was under warranty? They wouldn’t fix it? Honest question.

We bought our first Ram thru Darlings in Ellsworth and then traded it in 3 years later for a differently one. The experience of buying thru them was great but after that it went down hill. I needed washer spitters and the price was unreal, next I needed a complete brake job and again the cost was unbelievable. Took my truck to a different garage and saved over $1000. Just recently I needed upper and lower ball joints and my emergency brake fixed. And again the price was outrageous. Just parts alone I'm going to save over $2000 by taking my truck to a different garage. Crazy!!!!

I have done business with Darlings Auto Ellsworth for 20 years and have always felt the service & billing is good..When an error in the work is made they are quick to remedy it..That is until recently ☹️..I just had an appointment for my truck which had a bad brake caliber and pads.. I made the appointment for the repairs of the brake system… When I arrived for my appointment, I was told that three people had called out sick and it would be hours before they could get my truck in for the service appointment and they could likely not do the repair, but they could look at it and tell me what was wrong..then I was told they now charge $200 an hour .. I asked why I wasn’t notified before my appointment so that we could reschedule.. The bottom line is, I was not willing to sit for hours to simply have someone look at the brakes to tell me they needed replacing…… Very poor follow through on this visit

The service department at Darling's is a first class operation. I pulled up on a Wednesday morning at 8am to see if I could get an oil change and tire rotation. First question was, "do you have an appointment". I did not. "We can get you in at 8:30 if that is okay" was the reply. Amazing! I was done by 9:30, and they were actually booked pretty solid. They also took care of a software recall while they were at it.
My service writer, George B. was the personification of service...a true masterclass on how it is done.
Based on the quality of service I received, I wish I had bought my truck here.

We were on vacation in Lamoine. We had a rental Chrysler Pacifica from Cleveland. We tried to park off the side of the road in Acadia Park and hit a tree stump and blew out the radiator. All the people were incredibly helpful with getting parts and finishing labor so we could drive home. Remarkable work.

Lets see...About a year ago I could smell coolant from my vechile and noticed a little drop coming from the radiator. So I set a service apt to have the radiator replaced. When I dropped it off I told service that the oil cooler may be leaking as well but that's next on the list. I didn't say "check the oil cooler" or "check the radiator". I was there to spend $1,000 on the radiator replacment. I leave it there. I finally get a call about 6 hours later stating "we checked the radiator and it's leaking. We also checked the oil cooler and it's leaking". I said so did you replace the radiator? Guy says no. So I got to pick it up and they charged me $280 to tell me that these were the issues. So I pay the $280. Zero things done and a day wasted. PIS$ED! . Set up an apt to have the radiator and oil cooler done (over $2,000). I get my vechile back and pop the hood and the tech broke my horn off and just left it dangling by the wires. Be very, very careful as to what these service people do and say. Check your vechile over right there after the service. They're masters at taking money from people and doing nothing or messing things up. If you go in for an oil change they'll do a free inspection of other items (without asking, on your time) and try to up-sell you the service but they'll turn around and charge you $280 to tell you those same things when you're not there for an oil change. Just go somewhere else.

Came in for a simple service; oil change and tire rotation.
1) I never received a phone call when the service was complete.
2) Tech could not complete the TMS calibration because of a dead TMS sensor. The Service Writer did not reach out to see if I wanted the TMS issue addressed.

Now I have no TMS and a check engine light.

I was told I can make another appointment to have these issues looked at. Where a simple phone call could have solved everything.

I have bought many vehicles from Darlings over the past few years. I recently just traded in for a new Chrysler Pacifica. I had many boxes that I needed to be checked and I wanted a reasonable offer for my trade in. I searched all over the state of Maine looking for what I wanted and sent an email to Darlings requesting to build a new one. Immediately, Bill MacDonald emailed me back. I told him everything I wanted/needed. We set up a time to meet and at my arrival, I was surprised to see that he had two set up for me, one exactly what I wanted and one a little step up. Everything from then on was seamless. I think he started studying the van from the moment I reached out, because he knew what every button did and how everything worked. Tom appraised my trade in and gave me exactly what I was expecting, Aaron did all the finances with us and was speedy and quick, Darron gave us exquisite customer service- making us feel warm and welcome and of course Bill, was one of the best salesmen I think we have ever met. He spoke very highly of the company, which says a lot!

Our family was on a road trip from Canada when the check engine light came on. The issue was significant enough that it was unsafe to tow our trailer. The team that serviced our Ram truck squeezed us in and did their best to expedite shipping of parts so we could be on our way. Even though we were delayed for a few days waiting for parts, Josh called us daily with updates and even finished servicing our truck right up until it was closing time to get us on our way. 5 star plus for sure!

We had first oil change service for our 2024 GMC Canyon at Darling's GMC. Definitely one of my best experiences with any dealership service. They were on-time taking my vehicle in for service and had all the service items completed earlier than expected. Vehicle was brought around after a nice wash ready for me to head out. We will definitely use Darling's when we are here for the summers.

We went in about an hour before closing on a Friday. Our Jeep had started malfunctioning while we were passing through town on our way home (Maryland) from vacation. The service team was busy but managed to fit us in to assess the problem that afternoon. They understood the possible issues and took time to explain what they would be looking for, did a thorough scan of the vehicle, and identified the problem. They didn't have the part they needed on hand, so we started preparing for a multi-day setback. By the time we contacted them Saturday morning, they had found the part they needed and were able to fix the problem that day. Everyone was friendly and professional from start to finish and we are incredibly grateful for the fast and effective service. Thank you!

The man who checked us out was amazing. It was 4 pm (closing time) and I brought my sister in my Honda crv to pick up our Tahoe that was serviced at your Ellsworth GMC location. I asked the service man that cashed us out if he could check the battery on my Honda because I was having trouble starting my car. He went out of his way to help us. You are lucky to have this man as an employee. He gets 10 stars in our book. I wish I had his name. :(

Let's see. Made my appointment, received text and email confirmation of said appointment. Got to Dealership and was told my appointment was scheduled at the Chevrolet service dept instead of the GMC service dept. Then I was told that instead of being given a loaner as I had been in the past, I would have to wait for at least an hour for them to diagnose the issues to verify that my warranty would cover the loaner. My vehicle has full coverage to 60k miles, and was at 30k miles at my visit to service. I was in the waiting room for 2 hours before I was approached by my service tech and told that the tailgate recall had been fixed, and that the issue with my passenger taillight and marker light over the passenger wheel well was just a blown fuse that was not seated correctly, and it was fuse number 42 under the hood. The rattle under the truck and brake issue were next. Then an hour later I was told that the rattle was my license plate bracket banging against the front bumper, as "someone" had cut it in order to install a plow. Fisher plow was purchased brand new with the truck at Darlings GMC right there, and installed on the premises. So the fix was to put foam tape behind it to stop the noise. The tech could not duplicate my brake issue. Drove it a whole 12 miles. Smelling hot brake fluid in the cab, and the brake pedal has to be pushed harder to slow down. But your truck is all set. Meanwhile I see other customers vehicles returned to them washed, but mine was not. Don't you guys do a complimentary wash anymore? Oh only if the customer requests it. Are you frigging serious?? Stellar customer service as always at Darlings. Oh and by the way, the lights are out again, there is still a friggin rattle under my truck that I heard BEFORE I left the PARKING LOT, and the brake pedal was soft and smelled the fluid before I made it 10 miles.
Appointment scheduled in advance and somebody made a mistake.
Hour of travel each way, time wasted, mileage wasted, fuel wasted, and NO FRIGGING REPAIR TO THE ISSUES, other than the tailgate recall.
I will NEVER buy another vehicle at any Darlings dealership, I will NEVER buy another GMC truck, this is the second heavy duty truck they have completely SCREWED me over on. The whole reason I was forced into purchasing this truck, is because they would not honor the $6000 extended warranty that they talked me into purchasing on the last truck, that only had 40k miles on it and constant transmission issues. I have NEVER HAD ONE, SINGLE, POSITIVE EXPERIENCE AT DARLINGS, not one.

The salesperson, Daniel Wadman, was able to answer all questions I had as well as those I hadn't even thought of. He was very patient and thorough. I have always dreaded trading vehicles due to pushiness of sales people and the feeling of being "rushed through" to make a quick deal. I was able to try out the vehicle I was interested in and given information regarding comparison of other vehicles on the lot. Both Daniel and the finance officer, Matt, explained all facets of the sale and the multitude of the paperwork. From the time I first walked through the door until I left the lot, I felt valued as a customer! I definitely will recommend Darling's to my friends thinking about a new or another vehicle.

I don't know where to begin, other than I need to publicly eat my words and admit that I underestimated this dealership.

I bought a brand new vehicle just about a year ago at the Auto Mall. I wanted a brand new vehicle because I was traveling around for my job, and didn't want to worry about mechanical issues for a while. And just have a decent ride to get me from A to B. A dealer can never predict how good or bad a vehicle is going to be from the manufacturer. Low and behold, I ended up with one that had problems from day one. It was a 22 and I drove it off the lot with 800 miles on it, and it now has 22,000 on it. I have been dealing with a bug in the collision system randomly shutting itself off, now the transmission is starting to act up. Though Service has been chasing the collision System issue, the transmission problem took the cake for me.

Frustrated, I called up the Sales Manager Tom Wheeler and told him I just wanted out of it. Knowing it was a new loan and I was upside down in it, my confidence meter of them taking care of me or getting me into something was at a 2 out of 100.

Tom never asked any questions or tried to argue with me about the car. He went straight to work and said I will find something that will work.

I had to kind of laugh because I was thinking I am going to need thousands down, or my payment will be through the roof, or the banks are going to laugh. Even though I didn't care what they could get me into. Brand, New or Used. Didn't matter.

This is where I will proudly admit I inserted my boot right in my mouth. They worked effortlessly and when I went up after work they presented me with another new vehicle, with a payment with a few dollars of what I was currently paying with only $750 down.

I said good luck getting the bank to go with that, and I'll be dammned if Matt didn't call and say that it was all approved.

It was shock and awe......Truly....

Darlings has earned my continued business and anyone looking for a vehicle needs to go to see them. It's a guarantee you will be treated right from the start, and in the future. Taking care of the customer after the sale is what matters to me, and they just proved that to a mathematical certainty.

The service people were super helpful. I had an accident in my car and had concerns about safety as the sensor warning came on. It got thoroughly checked out and serviced promptly, with a part needing to be ordered. My car was returned to me fully repaired, clean, and I got an explanation of the issue.

If you're looking to buy a vehicle, you know how stressful the experience can be. But that's not the case at Darlings GMC in Ellsworth. I had a truly awful experience with service and parts. I was told that in order to schedule a service appointment, I needed to order parts in advance and pay for them over the phone, which I did, for almost $800, in the event I needed those parts. I was never told the parts were non refundable until I arrived for my service appointment and was told that I didn’t need the parts. Darlings now has my money and the parts I ordered, and they aren’t sure if they can authorize a refund. I requested a copy of my receipt and no where on the receipt does it say non-refundable, in fact it says no refunds after 30 days, it has been 5 days since I paid for parts. Furthermore, while owing me a refund, the service employee tried to convince me that I need more work and parts done, which is not needed. The employee told me maybe I did need the parts that he just told me I didn’t need. The employees were happy to lie to me with a smile on their face. I am truly disgusted by the greed and dishonesty. You have lost my business.

Upon pulling into service area, was promptly greeted by a young man who acknowledged my appointment and led me to my service advisor. Was able to see my service advisor, Jason Fletcher very soon upon arrival. Within a few minutes, my vehicle was being inspected for brake repair, 35-40 minutes later, Jason informed me of needed repairs. Thankfully, Darlings was able to preform said repairs same day. Which on a Monday, imptessed me.
Jason called approximately four hours later, vehicle ready, bada boom.
Kudos to Candy and Jake, courtesy drivers. Complimented a pleasant experience.
Wish all service visits were this painless.
