Charged 20,000 for an addition. 2 years later the floor caved in and wanted to charge 4200 for new floor. Tried to blame me for the damage and saying it was because of my dogs. I had 2 experts to come in and said that it was water damage due to them not sealing the door. There is so much water damage under the addition. All they want is money, do not care about the overall experience of once it's done, why should we have to go back and pay for something they didn't complete the right way in the first place. Getting work done by reliable people with half the price. Danny Garner Construction should've fixed it for free. Inquired that I left the door open for my floor to get wet, I'm not that stupid. They didn't own up to the mistake they made. I WOULD NOT recommend this company to ANYONE!!! OVERPRICED AND UNDERWORKED. More people should take them to CIVIL court. Maybe they will do the job right the first time!

This is for previous work, but my review was pending on HomeAdvisor. I figured posting here would be better.

Overall, my experience was decent. The estimate was detailed, and they quickly added/updated info for the insurance claim. The timing was pretty good considering the scope (almost 1500 sqft of flooring, multiple layers of paint, and reinstallation) -- I think it only took a couple of weeks from start to finish.

In the original estimate/discussion, the entire LVP area (most of the job) was supposed to have levelling material to even the floor out. During installation, only a few spots in the entire house were covered, which I brought up (with pictures). They adjusted the estimate instead of taking up the floor and putting the leveler down. Unfortunately, there are now spots in my flooring where there's a notable "give" when you walk on them, which I was told were just air pockets that would settle eventually. It's been months and the other flooring person I've had look at it tells me it's uneven below the LVP and there is little (if any) chance that it will settle (edit to update: it's been years and the floor still has little pockets). My understanding is that if it had been correctly applied across the floor (which the insurance originally paid for), the flooring would be level and there would be little to no issue. I think the only fix is to take the floor up, level it out, and place the floor back down, which could easily cost thousands.

The second issue concerns extra work added. I'd patched some holes in my ceiling (passable, but not professional), and they were happy to add it to the quote at my request. I was quoted at 8 hours of labor, which I thought was too high, but they confirmed we'd settle (either way) after it was all done. They completely missed it, which delayed the finisher from coming out for a while. After I mentioned it, we finally coordinated a time and the drywall person came by for two things (one of which was the ceiling). He was there ~2-3 hours and may have spent 20-30 minutes working, since there was barely any drywall mud over my work (essentially nothing done past what I had done myself). When I pointed this out, they tried to coordinate a time to send him back out. I'd mentioned multiple times over the project that my schedule worked better with them getting there later in the morning, but they either didn't listen or they didn't care. As expected, I was asleep when he stopped by the first couple times and he left before I woke up. Once the schedules lined up, he finished the whole thing in ~45 minutes and it looked great. He'd spent maybe 2-2.5 hours total if we count drive time (which I've never had to account for in any other professional service), so I should get 5.5-6 hours of pay back, per the previous agreement.

After roughly a month of emailing/calling every few days, I sent a final email with my rationale and what I thought I was owed. The next morning, the project manager called me and said the two missed attempts added to the labor done (ridiculous in my opinion) and that they wouldn't be refunding me. As they saw it, his drive there and back, the time spent getting material, etc. made up the difference. I understand schedules don't always line up, but they knew I requested later morning (case in point, the project manager joked about me waking up later than them multiple times). I agree everyone's time is valuable, but charging 2 hours of labor (BOTH times) seems excessive. In my experience, there's typically a flat "no-show" fee, which I would have understood. I effectively paid $700 for what amounted to $175 worth of work on the ceiling, and that's being very generous.

The quality of the work was fairly solid, but the floor and ceiling issues were too much for me to give them more than 2 stars. If they had been more reasonable (listening to my schedule concerns/timing, ensuring the floor was level per the estimate, and not drastically overcharging on the ceiling patch), I would happily give them a higher review.

For the second time in two years, upstairs water pipes had frozen and the downstairs was flooded. Water was running through the overhead lighting like a waterfall and the flood kept rising. My husband’s dementia was getting worse and worse. He couldn’t get the water cut off and the flood kept rising. I put a call out for help from our church. It was one of the best moves I would make. A dear friend call Danny Garner’s Construction company for help. Little did I know what an impact this company would have on our lives and this tragedy. Danny came in and my life became easier. He and his crew had the water turned off and the excess water off the floor in minutes. He knew exactly what I needed to do and guided me through the process. No matter how many times and no matter how early I called, he always answered with,”Good morning, Ms. Johnston. What can I do for you.”
We ended up in the hospital and moved to a retirement home in Nashville. The crisis was an even bigger crisis.
I talked with Danny regularly and tried to get the insurance money to him quickly. Knowing little about what I was doing and being 2 hours away, the crew became part of our family. The crew took Danny’s lead and made sure tasks were completely efficiently, professionally, and by always taking into consideration the crisis we were in. I had no family near our house, so they became our family.

The mail needed to be collected daily. They did that and locked it up. Danny sets the tone for his teams and checked regularly on the process. When discussions occurred about what they were doing and decisions had to be made, Danny’s guiding statement to the crew was, “Is it right?”
He accepted nothing but the “right thing” to do. The crew followed their leader and I’m sure that it is going to be beautiful. You see, I haven’t been able to go back to my house yet, but from the rave reviews that I’ve heard from my neighbors, I know it will be beautiful. Danny Garner Construction went above and beyond what was necessary to complete the task leaving it shining. I have seen pictures and I am so anxious to return. I have NEVER worked with a company like Garner Construction and I can truly say that they couldn’t have done anything to make it easier on me. When I look back at the first time this occurred and the work done by that company and compare it to this time with Garner’s Construction, there is no comparison.
A situation presented itself where I needed to have my locks changed. It was a situation that presented itself early Saturday morning. I explained the situation to Danny and he went down within a couple of hours and had it done. For all these reasons I recommend Danny Garner Construction to get the job done quickly, professionally, and with the least disruption for the family involved.

I don’t recall leaving a review, I just sent an email regarding my son who I was forced to give up for adoption in 1970. I just thought perhaps he had kept the name I gave him on his adoption papers. I just took a shot given that my many other efforts have failed. But it seems that you have an excellent business.

2 years ago I could have written a wonderful review about this company, but not now. We reached out to them a second time to complete a job (replacing an attic step ladder) they had previously completed at our old house. When we moved homes we knew we wanted them to come back out to take care of our attic ladder again. However, what we got was one massive headache, 2 incompetent individuals, and an open hole in our ceiling. For starters, when they (a husband and wife) arrived Saturday morning they said they could only work for 45 min because they had somewhere else to be and when they returned Sunday they "worked" for 2 hours with no more progress than the day before. They then apologized and said they couldn't complete the project because they didn't know they were to be replacing an attic ladder and weren't prepared for it. They knew exactly what they were doing because they showed up Saturday to "prep." When we called to complain we were told that we could go elsewhere for service. I am incredibly disappointed because I looked forward to building a relationship with them. Our house has many more projects to go, but not anymore. Please be cautious when booking them.
