Really good and professional company I love the fact that they are bilingual several companies came our to give a estimate but they were by far the most qualified and did a great job

Overall, my wife and I are happy with our ADU.
I first need to point out CB builder’s strong points: Alexsander and his Father Pancho are knowledgeable and dependable. Their crew, Carlos and Andres are courteous and hardworking. Hugo, the tile layer , takes pride is his work and it was a joy to watch him work. The plumbers used top materials and did professional work. The cabinet and countertop guy are professionals. Cesar, the electrician is knowledgeable and clean.
Now the negative. First, their drywall crew was sloppy. I came in on numerous occasions to correct their work Secondly, cleaning up was a bit of an issue for them. During the four month construction, CB Builders only picked up the trash pile twice. On numerous occasions, I cleaned up after them. The third issue was the one sided contract I signed. Ninety-nine percent of it is written to favor CB builders. I strongly recommended you read it carefully or hire an attorney to explain it to you. This will help you avoid misunderstandings as the project progresses. The fourth issue, and this is important, ask your architect to draw or directly annotate the details regarding the sewer, water, and gas hook up on the plans. My architect did not, and this was a point of contention. I resolved this by hiring a different plumber to finish the hook ups at a 70% savings compared to the CB builders estimated change order. My sons and I, did the asphalt removal, trenching, backfilling, and the concrete driveway repair. It was a major headache and backache for me. However, in the end we are happy with the ADU and CB builder workmanship on the project.

Called Cornejo’s Builders after seeing their beautiful work on Tik Tok. Spoke to the owner regarding an ADU project. Alex always returned my calls, explained throughly how the project would be completed. Love how his company is an all in one stop. They definitely handle everything from getting permits, architect, plumbing, electrical etc. Turn key ready, his prices are very reasonable and is willing to work around your budget. Alex was very understanding when I explained why I had to put a hold on the the project. He definitely treats his customers like family.

I wouldn't recommend this builder for any remodel or ADU build. I'll take the time to break down why and help you understand my experience. Perhaps this will help you make a educated choice when it comes to any possible work your hoping to achieve with you're property when considering this contractor service.

After meeting with several contractors I decided to use Cornejo Builders for updates to the backside of my house including working 1200 squ feet of pavers, updates to garage including putting in a toilet, drywalling, windows, and new floor, and also pool plans. Also a new slab front porch in-front of house.
I paid his 350 dollar consulting fee which was promised to be takin out of cost of job (gimmick). It was spoken that I wanted to wait a few months to save some money for the job. So months after now that I've saved money I reach out and he asked me to send me a detailed email. I gathered photos and detailed drawings with measurements for him to see. I also spent a few hours writing out the detailed email with drawings to simplify and make the easiest understanding. After spending all that prep I sent email and got radio silence. I sent a few follow up text asking if he received email and asking if he was still perhaps interested in job = more radio silence. Finally I get a text back that he was on vacation. Then we talk some more, then again radio silence. This process going on for weeks and weeks.... Hearing every excuse in the book from food poisoning, another vacation, his venders where on vacation. List goes on with excuses. Finally he comes over AGAIN but this time
with his father and they look at the scope of the project. All while telling me they want this project and are "motivated" which ofcourse at this point I was feeling doubtful. Then I get a proposal price for 1/3 the project and with things that where not spoken about. At this time I also discover he never looked at the email he asked me to put together. He says he will go back and look at email now. Radio silence again..... vender is somehow on vacation again. Then date of agreed project start time comes up. I asked if we are still on time and he responds yes. Then again radio silence for a week passing the agreed date of
Project. I finally send my last text asking if he could please send the updated proposal and if we could include a time stipulation in contract because I have put a lot of my time in project trying to get it going and that we are past
the agreed start time.. I get the response....

Unfortunately at this time we won't be able to help you and move forward with the project. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

So for those who took the time to read the detailed experience I had... this is what you could expect. Perhaps you may get lucky and catch Cornejo builders on a good day. You're gamble.
I believe I deserve my consultation fee back out of good faith and being dragged through the mud with they're time being the only
thing considered here.. Doubt they'd ever consider that. This type of ethos is what gives the view of contractors a bad taste in the general population of home owners mouths. Low bar, terrible communication, and not catering to the home owners experience and time.

PS - Also, I am an economist for a living working in consumer indexes for market analytics. 2 weeks ago - They tried to lie and tell me the lumber prices and materials where still at pandemic highs regarding the pricing..... I'm here to tell you this is far from true. An absolute lie and attempt to gauge prices. Lumber is continuing to fall and is expect to be at 380.00/1000 board feet in 12 months time. Be careful out there!

I chose to give just 2 stars because I believe if they worked in they're time management skills/ communication they could achieve better results and happier customers. The opportunity is there. The man is personable when present and could harness that in better ways. Also - I will say the positive reviews seem fishy to me as well.

After browsing some time to find a contractor that met our standards, we finally had the pleasure to work with Cornejos Builders. From the beginning of the project to the end Alex and his team committed to being consistent with communication in every aspect and was extremely informative when we had any questions regarding the project. They turned our existing garage into a comfortable and livable space which is exactly what we wanted! The garage was converted into an ADU and was completely renovated from inside and out. Not only did it add value to our home but also brought much satisfaction to our friends and families when visiting. It really helped that he was flexible with our budget and was able to compromise on a price with us. The price was very reasonable considering how efficient and outstanding everything turned out to be. We really appreciate someone that is thorough from the beginning and Alex proved himself that he is dynamic, professional and coordinates well to our needs. We are extremely content with the final product and will definitely be considering any future projects with Cornejos Builders.

We couldn’t have asked for a better contractor to work with than Alex. We were needing our home remodeled in a very short window of time and Alex and his crew were always on schedule and in touch with us throughout the whole remodel. We would definitely use them again.

Had a truly great experience with Alex.Cornejos builders just completed converting my crawlspace/basement into an ADU (studio with new bathroom and kitchen).

What made the experience even more valuable was that the owner himself (Alex) came over for a consultation. Other companies just send their sales reps and most of the time they don’t even know anything. Feeling important is always a positive I can’t wait to work with them again. I highly recommend them. You can tell Alex is passionate about what he does, his clients, and his company.

Alex was very professional and informative. He was completely honest with us. We definitely plan on using his service in the future.

Turns out he didn’t do what he said he would…I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau…..Also considering legal action. When we started to ask questions, he ghosted us. I feel foolish seeing now that someone else had an almost identical experience.

If you choose to work with Alex Cornejo in the future, you’ll notice that he will be really friendly and talk about how other contractors will screw you but he won’t. It’s his way of getting you to let your guard down. He will make you sign electronically and won’t bring any copies with him, but promising he will send it later. Then, he won’t give you the contract without repeatedly asking. However, if he does give you a copy, the contract will leave out the work he is supposed to do. Upon further inspection you’ll notice the only work that is mentioned references an addendum that he won’t ever give you. His contracts are unnecessarily long and complicated. He took advantage of the fact we were first time home owners and in a tough spot because we needed a contractor ASAP.

I’m so glad to have found an honest and knowledgeable contractor that saw how Alex Cornejo didn’t do anything to code. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but turns out these new code are 5+ years old. I spoke with the city and they confirmed it. No excuses!

Oh and I can’t forget how his men left so many beer cans in our trash. Sure it’s nice to clean up after themselves but sketch that they think it’s okay to get drunk on the job….we didn’t say anything because at the time we thought Alex had done us a solid but turns out that wasn’t true.

I want to begin by highlighting the prompt response I received when I inquired about their services.
One of the most important details for me is quick response.
Alexsander was quick to respond and made an availability that was not only quick but worked for me.
I’m a registered nurse who has two jobs and flexibility and time management is big for me.
I appreciated the understanding and willingness to work with my schedule.
The home inspection was very thorough. I am looking to tear up the laminate floor (disgusting) and thanks to Alexsander I found out that my old home (built in 1930s) lacks more foundational support.
How did he know?
He got down and fit himself as best as he could to check the foundation on the floor (also very well dressed and professional attire).
Without asking him Alexsander checked every detail of my home from the inside,outside,corner, etc.
His quoting?
Very fair and I’ve consulted DTLA architects as well as contractors and the pricing is very fair.
He’s very open to ideas and has a plethora of recommendations.
What’s important to me, is to be listened to and not be persuaded against my vision.
I am looking forward to not only replacing my disgusting laminate floor and having more foundation support but I am excited to also remodel my entire home.

I had the pleasure of working with Alex and his team for a massive home renovation and remodel. What started out as kitchen renovation, grew into two bath remodels, lighting upgrades, interior/exterior paint, a front courtyard, a tankless water heater installation, garage storage/attic creation, fireplace upgrade, and relocation of washer/dryer.
