After years of helping others through flood disasters, I had one myself-- a malfunctioning hot water heater soaked the floors and partial walls of a house I own, requiring major tear apart, mold mitigation and rebuilding. Fortunately, rather than mess with it myself I immediately called in these experts. Not only did they do superb work in several trades. they also documented it and negotiated with my insurance in such business-like detail rhat, in contrast to so many insurance horror stories I've seen in diaster wotk, everything was cheerfully reimbursed in a timely fashion, including loss of use costs. The key is the detailed before and after documentation, understanding insurance language. and getting superb work from the Compass office staff. Be warned that such things always take longer than expected, That is the nature of it, but it's worth it to do it right and in the long run less expensive. I worked wit Brett and Andrew, and highly recommend them. These people enjoy their work and know what they're doing.

We’d like to give a big shout-out to the Compass Construction team - especially Russel Evans, Adrian Barnes, Matt Sunner, and PM Andrew Nelson - for the incredible work they did on our home remodel, specifically the doors and trim package they installed. The craftsmanship and attention to detail truly stand out, and we couldn’t be happier with the final results. Thanks again, guys - we genuinely appreciate your talent and dedication!

David is the person who replaced some of our hardwood floors due to a leak in our utility room. I was so impressed with his knowledge and professionalism, and he did the most amazing job and the flooring looks wonderful! Thank you so much David!

Thank you for referring me to Action Drain & Plumbing! They were fast, courteous, and excellent communicators. Not only did they quickly assess and resolve the issue, but they also saved me thousands of dollars compared to quotes from other plumbers.

I truly appreciate your help and professionalism!

I contacted Fred Anderson on a Sunday afternoon and he was at our house within 30 minutes with the necessary equipment and expertise to handle a flooding issue in our basement. He worked alongside my family as we moved heavy items from the impact area and worked with us to pull back the carpet and remove and dispose of the wet padding. He set up the ventilation units and the evaporator and brought ease to our family. We couldn't be more grateful for his excellent service and would recommend Fred and Compass Construction for any restoration issue.

I felt devastated when I found out my home had been flooded due to the burst pipes when I was out of town. It was during the once-in-a-century Artic Outflow of 2023 winter. An average person is not trained to deal with restoration companies and insurance. When knowing the bill from the restoration company and the payment from the insurance didn't align, I was trapped. I experienced an extended period of hard time asking the insurance to review the bill and correct the payment. Some services provided by the restoration company were determined by insurance as non-covered which became my out-of-pocket expense. However, restoration was only episode 1 as reconstruction is beyond its scope of practice.

Compass Construction was recommended by my agent to help with the reconstruction. Bret, the estimator met with me at the destroyed property in early May 2023. Upon my request, Bret arrived around 8 a.m. and brought the tools to unscrew the boarded entrance. I reported my loss on Feb.4, 2024. After that, this was the first time I saw the post-traumatic property. I was shock when I saw my home. Everything inside was removed, and the remaining was the frame of the house itself. During the walk-through, I briefly introduced my policy to Bret. I had a tight schedule and needed to report to Canada, I had left before Bret finished measuring.

Bret promised to submit an estimation to the insurance on my behalf. He did it. However, the claiming process wass totally unsmooth. He kept communicating with the insurance on my behalf, and there was a significant amount of behind-the-scene workload for him. He also kept me updated. Eveytime I got a message from him, I was filled with hope. Five months later, which was October 2023, Bret eventually had the chance to talk to a local adjustor assigned by the insurance company. The local adjustor reviewed my claim and processed the payment. Bret has a good rapport with the local adjuster based on his decades of experience in the restoration industry. The communication between the two professionals ran smoothly. The work didn't begin right away. Meanwhile, he taught me how to preserve the property from further damage as there had been no electricity since the flood occurred, and the property bears cold.

I visited Compass Construction twice. It was a welcoming environment. Everyone in the company, including two ladies sit at the front desk, was very helpful. The company was formed by a group of like-minded persons like Bret, and it made a great impression on my first visit. The warmest word I heard from the owner was "Bret will get your home back."

The work began In February 2024. During that time, Bret found that the burst pipe that was fixed by the restoration company was not in good quality and needed to be redone. He again negotiated with the insurance for additional funds approval. He made it.

During 2024, I visited my property in a total of three times. I lacked of the courage to witness my post-traumatic property which used to be my home for more than six years, and Brett understood this. He only invited me to walk-throughs at the point when he felt appropriate. I also met with Stephen the project manager of Compass Construction once at the property. He is resourceful and has a flee of selected sub-contractors to work on the projects. He helped to rebuild my property under a strict budget constraint.

If you want to renovate your property or need help to restore your property, please consider Compass Construction which practices in WA and ID. It can help with restoration and reconstruction, the two major parts seamlessly. I wished I had known this before I contracted my restoration company. Bret can help you with estimation and negotiation with insurance. Stephen can help you with budgeting every dime on each piece of your project. I hope everyone who sees this can help to spread my comment to your friends and family.

It was a pleasure to have Josh and his team of Dylan & Russell in our home to help us with the water damage in a basement bedroom due to a cracked water pipe. Not only was their work done in a timely manner with excellent quality and precision but they were careful to keep the workspace clean at the end of each day. Josh is an excellent communicator and such a polite and professional young man. He informed us of the progress everyday in a clear manner that even a novice like me could understand. His phase of the work is complete and I am 100% satisfied. I would highly recommend Josh and his team from Compass Construction.

I can highly recommend the people at Compass Construction for remodeling projects. They just completed a master bathroom remodel for us and their work was impeccable. From the cleanliness of the demolition through completion of the work, the master craftsmen at Compass were meticulous. I would especially like to commend Stuart, Stephen, Corey, and Alec for their attention to detail and their professionalism. A big THANK YOU to everyone involved! Don and Joan

The damage they did to my house has now hit the 30,000.00 mark. I would have been so much better off just doing the clean up my self. I had a nice finished basement, all it needed was a water clean up. They were supposed to do a two foot cut in the walls around the damaged areas and dry out the flooring that was wet. Instead they gutted the entire basement whether the area was damaged or not. When they finished destroying my basement they just walked away. I know in 20/20 hind sight that I should have kept a closer eye on them. If you hire them do so at your own risk. The fools at my insurance company recommended them my dealings with them is a whole other thing. I will be looking into a legal option something that should have been totally unnecessary.

Compass Construction, and specifically, Carson, Stephen, and Russell, did just one hell of a job getting our garage rebuilt after a devastating fire. Russell's carpentry skills really show in the care he put into building my workbench and garage steps.

Everyone we interacted with at Compass was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend them.

First rate company! We needed to repair a broken rafter, and due to the age of the home, strengthen the other rafters in our attic, and was recommended by a roofing company to call Compass. With the upcoming snow season, we wanted to have this done promptly, and Dave came out immediately and gave us a good estimate and explanation of what was needed. Mike was the project manager for the work and sent a crew out the following Monday, which worked great for us, and made sure we were happy with the work when it was completed. Chris and Rodolfo did the work professionally and with great care for our house. And Angela and Diana in the office were so helpful in getting our paperwork completed. Great team all around, and will definitely contact Compass for any future work!

It's so easy for me to rate Compass
Construction a 5...if I could, I would've rated a 6 or better. The workmanship and professionalism from all the employees was above and beyond. I would like to recognize the following:
Diana, Soren, Shawn (sp.), Stuart, Isaiah, Carson, Travis and Jim.

I had water damage in my bathroom and the process was so easy for me!
Compass did all the work with working with insurance companies, HOA, etc.

After the completion of the water damage, I hired Compass to complete additional work and was very satisfied. In late spring, I'm planning to hire Compass Construction to paint my condo!

I would highly recommend Compass Construction in a heartbeat to others. You won't be disappointed

Thanks again and happy holidays ⛸️⛷️‍

Absolutely HORRIBLE company! They were rude and unprofessional. They disappeared for weeks with no call or update. I had to call them to find out what was going on. They didn't complete the work on an insurance claim and what they did is shoddy. One of the workers also thought it was appropriate to pee in my back parking area all over my house and garbage can. It popped right up on my connected camera screen in my living room in front of my school-age children. I tell everyone to avoid them.

I've personally used Compass several times, as well as many of my family and friends, and clients have used Compass for repairs over the last 20 years.
They are very good at dealing with insurance companies, and doing the repairs in accordance with the adjuster's approval, to streamline the claims process and avoid the customer having surprise expenses later due to a miscommunication.
Lots of contractors can do repairs, but not all work as well with your insurance company.

Can't say enough good things about this company! All of the guys we dealt with, Doug, Carson,Scott and Chris were professional, polite and friendly. Working with Brett has been a blessing. From our first conversation on the phone to the great lengths of detailed information provided verbally and via estimate for the insurance company he has been professional and knowledgeable every step of the way. My home suffered water damage and Compass has done all of the repair work.  After the estimator, Carson Ames, had worked up the requirements and cost estimate, Marshall LaFave was assigned as my project manager. Different crews specialized in drywall, painting and flooring, and Marshall is a very effective project manager.  He did a great job of keeping me informed and setting expectations while coordinating everything that needed to get done.  I'm being detailed on purpose: every contact I've had with Compass employees has been professional, and the work quality has been superb.  In fact, my first contact was with Diane, who answers all calls and exudes compassion and competence.  If I had to sum up my experience with Compass, it would be this: INTEGRITY.  You cannot find a better outfit to work on your home.

The gentlemen whom I worked with went above and beyond to help me when our house was flooded by our cat! It is an old old house with lots of issues and the cat broke a pvc pipe in the basement!
Bret from Compass was very upfront and patient with explaining everything to me from the very first visit. As we progressed through all the work he was straightforward, clear and honest about what they could and could not do. He and the project manager spent a great deal of time brainstorming to help me figure out what to do.
Our Project Manager, Shelby, exhibited the same patience and dedication to doing good work and making sure to explain things. Both of them came out numerous times to check on the work and they spent time helping me figure out the best ways to complete my project with a very small budget. As a widow with 5 kids this compassionate help was invaluable.
The structural work they have done is solid and I'm confident will carry my house another 100 years.
The reasons I recommend this company are: the integrity and compassion and dedication of these two men. Also, the quality and care taken by the men who did the actual work on my house. Every one of them was patient, polite, skilled, and competent.

Took way too long and did sub-par work. Didn't
do everything they should have on an insurance claim. Only one of the three different crews that were sent out had any skills. The last crew decided that it was ok to urinate next to the back door. The security camera showed it clearly. My ten year old granddaughter was the first to see it. Bad company! Don't use!

It took 6 months for Compass to fix a burst pipe and replace my carpet. At first I thought it was due to Covid, but after dealing with the office staff I realized it was because they were unprofessional and had just failed to correspond well with other contractors, myself and my insurance company. The first "statement" I seen was mailed to me about 40 days after the project manager seen the work was completed. The manager told me he would be in touch with me with in a week, and never did. The "statement" claimed I was over 6k past due in a 30-60 day window. I hadn't even seen an itemized invoice, no correspondence from the project manager, no paper mail, no email, not even a phone call. When I explain this to them in person they said "it's no big deal." "Don't worry about, it's not going to creditors or collections" I told them "it wasn't ok, I'm not "past due," and I am worried about it, but I'll just shut up." When I said that, a guy from a back office said "yeah, do that." It's also important to add that the clerk blamed the invoice never making it to my house on the mail service. Even if the invoice was lost in the mail, once they considered me "1-30" days past due, wouldn't it have made sense to reach out to me some other way than mail like they said they were going to do anyway? I wouldn't hire this business again to paint my fence, forget working on my house. What a lousy experience this was. To the guy in the back office, what a cowardly and unprofessional way to behave bud. Good luck if you hire this team.

This company never returns your calls when you are in the middle your renovation. All they do is put is put you on the back burner! Took 4 months to get a simple kitchen floor project, and now we have noticed that there are already loose boards and soft spots on the kitchen floor!

After 3 months of construction on my house and they still aren't done, it is very clear the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. Communication with the client is very poor. This is the 6th day they no showed during the 3 month time period and each time we had to do the calling to find out why nobody was here. All in all they have done less than 3 weeks worth of work in my house and a majority of those days were not full days. Today marks 3 months since they tore out my kitchen.

These guys are great. They did fantastic work on my house. I only had a siding issue but they were really knowledgeable and friendly. They even took the time to advise me on how to fix another issue with my house without hired anybody to do it. If you guys need to hire a company to do work on your house, give these guys a call. They are knowledgeable, fair, and willing to work with your insurance. Plus, they don't nickel and dime you which is really awesome in this day and age.

A short time ago, my house basement flooded and caused some major damage. The insurance company sent out a company call Service Masters which is also owned by Compass Construction. This was a very hectic time for us. Service Masters came in and took action. They were fantastic! They had my household items moved to safety and began removing the damaged carpet and walls. Installed blowers which removed the horrible ammonia smell. This was during Thanksgiving and Christmas period. I later hired them to do the construction repairs. Their people were very polite and considerate. They kept me aware of everything that was going on. This is one fantastic company. This was a nightmare for my family and me. But Service masters made it easy for us to continue on and make the repairs. There just is not enough good things to say about them. They are great. They should be placed at the top of the American companies. Any company would be far ahead to emulate Compass Construction. (Service Masters). I have dealt with many companies in the past, I am also a business owner. I doubt you can find a company with the morals and American ethics these folks display. I will highly recommend them for any home construction. I felt very secure that I could trust them. They should be awarded an A+++ rating. I will continue on to search for a community award. Anyone in doubt of my sincerity for this company can call me at ###-###-####. I will also be glad to show off the work they did. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Pricing questions
1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
