I've worked with a lot of contractors over the years and this was the most unprofessional experience I've ever had. They were supposed to spray foam my basement and afterwards I could see sunlight basically everywhere. Also I paid them a lot of money for clean up of the old insulation and they left the entire basement a mess.

I contacted them about the issues and they didn't respond to email or phone calls for well over 2 months. Honestly, I've never once called and had a person pick up. I let them know I wouldn't be paying and after 9 months they contacted me for payment and pretended they never saw my messages.

The owner was the most rude person I've ever encountered - he sent a threatening email to me demanding payment which was full of lies saying they would put a lien and it would cost thousands of dollars to take it off.

I recently had Colonial Insulation handle an insulation job and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Chris was professional, efficient, and thorough throughout the entire process. He took the time to explain the best options and ensured everything was installed perfectly. My energy costs have been significantly reduced. I highly recommend Colonial Insulation and especially Chris for anyone needing reliable and high-quality insulation work!

I contacted Colonial Insulation about insulating my attic in Cambridge, MA after Mass Save program recommended contacting my own insulation professional given the age of my house. Chris (owner of the company) responded immediately to my call and came and did an assessment and provided detailed recommendations on what kind of insulation to use as well as what to expect in terms of reducing energy use. The project was completed in a day and I could not be happier with the results.

The insulation job did not pass my city’s code enforcement inspection. The new construction is at a standstill. Chris refuses to answer texts, email or phone calls. I do not recommend Colonial Insulation. He demands 50% deposit when Maine law says 33% deposit only. If he asks for proof of funds for final payment, do not send copy of bank check.

An overdue review that is very long but detailed.

Jan 2022 I started researching the best approach to insulate the underbelly of my mother’s trailer/mobile home. At the time, COVID had made it difficult to get the chemicals so prices sky rocketed per square board. Not sure how today’s market value is. It’s a messy job and it consisted of removing debris, old vapor barrier and insulating with a new vapor barrier or closed cell spray foam.

There are several companies throughout NH and was ready to schedule an estimate with those servicing the seacoast.
My list of 7-8 businesses quickly was cut to 3 or 4 once. Thankfully, scheduling a walkthrough and estimate was very easy with Anna.

Chris, the owner, and their PM, also Chris answered all our questions. Chris-1 was the most professional, communicating best approach of the work I wanted done of the company’s contacted. Vapor barrier would be a few thousand cheaper but we would be in a similar situation 10 years later. Colonial did the spray foam and we were not disappointed. It ended up being a 4-day job, 2.5 days of debris removal and 2.5 days of spraying 1050 sqf. They reconnected some ventilation ducts that had fallen off over the years and sprayed them in. Brian, their foam tech sprayed 4-5” underneath. Good team, professional and respectful of the property.

Here is the spec run down:
Remove and disposal: $2,288 average may have been $1500 at one time
We decided on a Zone 6 with 4” of foam: $7,377 for 1050 sqf
Depending on the winter/summer closed foam mix is 3500-5000 board feet per set. Both mixes are 2pounds per inch.

After the expansion and hardening of foam the flooring was super enforced. No sinking floor boards. The fully sealed floor has helped with keeping heat in the house longer and easily noticed the furnace has turned on less.

I contacted all the other companies and can save you time for your next project.
• Green Cocoon: Home advisor accolades for spray foam however after the first reschedule, Candace was a no call no show. Very disappointing
• Weatherize guyz: they do NH and MA energy saving programs and vapor barriers.
• USA Insulation of Southern NH. Franchise but they do have full time employees, no subcontracts. They have a spray foam injection for thin walls. Seems like a good idea but decided on doing underneath first. Estimator was professional.
• Yankee Thermal Imaging: asked for an estimator to contact me back, they eventually did, 3 months later.
• Anderson Insulation of Maine: does not service mobile homes
• Eric’s Maintenance: does a lot of NH energy saving contracts, vapor barrier. Was thorough by email but was offended when asked to meet for an estimate in person.
• Green Era Insulation: never responded
• MJW Drywall and insulation: never responded
• Precision Application: no response
• Preston’s Construction and Spray Foam: thought this would have been a close second. Email correspondence was very good. Unfortunately, once it came time to schedule an in person estimate in January, they said they were booked until November 2022. Possibly don’t do mobile homes. He was a fan of open cell spray foam and did it on his on cabin in northern NH. Some controversy on open foam sprayed underneath due to moisture.
• Valley Insulation: was honest: stopped doing insulation due to cost. Not a lot of experience with mobile homes, had done some vapor barrier work.

These guys paid me a $5 Amazon gift card to leave a five-star rating. Pretty shady. Then Chris is going to come back and say he didn't do business with me even though the order wasnt in my name. He might want to check his grammar on his automatic replies to reviews, "If you ever need a insulation, call us today". Lol. Professional.

Colonial came out to give me a quote on a job. They quickly identified that they would not be the best provider for the work I needed (due to reasons beyond their control), and spent some time discussing with me other options instead. I really appreciate the professionalism and care shown in them immediately saying "there's a better option for you then our product for this", instead of trying to sell me a worse solution just to get a job.

I just had my attic insulated with Colonial Insulation. From start to finish this company has been amazing! The owner Chris, was very thorough and responsive from start to finish. The two techs doing the work, Matt and Ben, were extremely professional! They covered all work areas leaving almost zero mess as they worked. The little mess that was left was cleaned up thoroughly upon completion. Matt and Ben went above and beyond. I have had contractors work in my home before, tracking mud, banging up walls and trim and leaving a mess as they departed. Matt and Ben were true professionals!!! Thank you so much!!!

I cannot comment on the quality of their work because I did not hire them, but I recommend you get other price quotes before using this company. Their price was literally double that of a competitor for the exact same service. In addition, their quote did not include the need for spray foam insulation in a non-vented crawl space, which is required by code.

Colonial Insulation of Rindge NH just finished a very successful insulation of our attic and basement. They also took care of needed ventilation issues in both upstair bathrooms. This included proper ventilation to the outside. Our experience with Colonial has been extremely positive. From the initial call with office employees, to the Project Estimator, the team of installers, their General Manager and the owner has been fantastic. The testing at the end of the implementation was also very successful. My wife and I are thrilled with the Colonial team. We highly recommend Colonial for their insulation needs. To say our experience was poor from start to finish is an understatement. NHSaves directed us to this company as they were able to get the job done within a couple of weeks vs several months. They came to do with audit within days of calling which I was impressed with. I then had to call or email weekly for 3 weeks to even get scheduled. I finally found out they had scheduled me and didn't tell me. Seeing as we have a toddler and couldn't be home for the week they were installing - I was not pleased.

When we came home after the installation I was shocked at the state of our home. It was filthy. There was urine left in our toilets, our water wasn't working (they unplugged the pump), a hole was left in our ceiling and furniture/belongings were moved and not put back into place.

When I called and sent photos of the issues, they had someone come patch the hole. That's it. And even then the worker said he wouldn't mud or tape - just put the sheetrock back. No apologies and the worker refused to wear a mask despite repeated requests he wear one. Including when my toddler was in the room who could not wear a mask. When I asked him again he said "I've tested negative" and then took it off completely!

Oddly enough our house feels colder now. We were told that there would be 4-6 patched holes in our walls and there are none. Part of me even wonders if they completed the job and we are asking someone else to review the work. After spending $14,000 I expected so much more from this experience.

Sprayfoam in the roof has made a big difference but now we have carpenter ants. Maybe because roof leaks. Had them come back once to address leaks, no réponse when it started leaking again. Also did not complete the job as planned which was to spray foam roof and blow cellulose into walls; told us they couldn’t do the cellulose and threatened to stop job unless we paid a change fee for shingles in light color to qualify.for energy efficiency albido.

I scheduled a consultation with this company and I was told in three business days that the owner be performing the evaluation for our large project. He never showed up at the scheduled time, there was no phone call or email. I had to call them to tell them that no one showed up and they rescheduled me with no explanation. I had to wait a week. In the meantime we received two other proposals from competitors that showed up on time and warned us Colonial would be shady. Someone other than the owner showed up for the appointment and they were on time however their pricing for the same thickness compared to the other two estimates was nearly $5,000 more. They lost my $30,000 insulation job.

I had an appt. for an estimate at 10:00 this morning. Not only was the person a no-show, but did not even have the decency to call me to explain I have called the office 3 times today and I keep being told they can't locate him. If they are lucky they never will find him! Totally unprofessional and inept!

Colonial just did a big insulation job for us and we couldn't be more pleased! Brian and Sam were very professional and pleasant. They worked late to finish the job. Brian prevented a near catastrophe when some pipes above the garage burst while he was working in that area and we weren't home. He quickly turned off the water and and then cleaned up the water that had sprayed from the pipes. We highly recommend Colonial!

I consulted the folks at Colonial about how to reduce the heat loss and moisture problems in our basement, which is a concrete foundation poured in the 1970s, and the weakest link in our thermal envelope. They covered the concrete walls with closed cell foam spray a few inches thick from the floor up past the band joists, and it's made such a difference - much less dampness in the basement in summer, and wonderfully easy to manage temperatures in the space above. All done in a single morning. Great people to work with, and we're very happy with the return on investment - wish we'd done it years ago!

We called Colonial Insulation & Fireproofing and within a few days Chris was at our home advising us of our options for insulating . We chose option #3 after much discussion about heat, winter snow removal , and long run savings. We scheduled an appointment for the work and it consisted of a full day . The men worked very hard especially with the heat of the attic. The job was well done, clean up very efficient , and it looks like a winter wonderland in the attic. We are looking forward to seeing how warm our home will be this winter. Pauline

Crew arrived on schedule and did a remarkable job prepping the basement for closed cell foam application! They essentially covered EVERYTHING with plastic drop sheets! 2" of foam was applied to the sill and entire basement ceiling! Big job done very well! Thorough cleanup followed and they were completed after about 6 hrs on site. The results have been transformational! The floors are much warmer, drafts are gone and my pellet stove is able to keep the entire house warm at 2 lbs/hour feed rate. I would highly recommend this product and contractor! I was very pleased with the level of professionalism Colonial showed and the quality of work they delivered despite frigid temperatures.

We brought in Colonial Green to super insulate a new addition that was open on 5 sides and on the East side of a lake. That meant high winds and cold temps so we needed a good product and pro installation. Chris and the crew got us fixed up right. It was a warm winter watching the snow devils from the window. They have great informational specs and stats to share and help streamline the decision making process, and competitive pricing. We were happy enough to bring them back this spring for another project! Thanks

Getting a quote was easy and pleasant, and the service was timely. They were creative with some odd requirements of the job, and completed it a day sooner than expected. Overall I was pleased with the experience.

Loved the entire experience. The owner was there from the start and made sure to explain the pro/con over hard or soft spray foam. the installers showed not only showed up on time, did a quick and clean install but more importantly, both men were nearly silent. You see, I work from home, I told the installers were told upon arriving and they just got it done! I can’t imagine any part of the job could be improved upon. I highly recommend for spray foam in a residence.

We are glad we decided to go with the foam insulation. We now have zero drafts in the rooms we had done and will have more rooms to come. All the people that we delt with were very helpful and courteous.
We saw a big saving in our heating bill right away.

We redid our basement... and I wasn’t sure what to expect with installation, but to my surprise it was fast and easy... the guys explained the whole process and even cleaned up the mess before they finished... Disappointed in the final results. We were assured that "professionals" were going to do the work. One of the young men was new on the job and was training. Many areas in the basement ceiling are under sprayed. We asked for Chris to inspect, which he did. He measured an area that was clearly 2 inches thick, but not areas that were under sprayed. We will need to put additional insulation in. Disappointed they didn't respond to our email concerning our issues.

6 months in, and insulation pulling away from joists.

The only solution to a moldy leaking rock falling down cellar/basement is the spray foam, colonial did an amazing job! can't recommend them highly enough, Surry NH

When dealing with this contractor, make sure you record the conversation and that the contract is to your liking. I am satisfied with the product and results but I don't like being decieved with the scope of work to be preformed. Because of this I will not use or recommend this company to do further work.

We had Colonial Green insulate an addition on our house and found them to be professional and considerate. The quotes were comparable to other ones we had received, but I really liked that someone was in constant communication with me from the time I got the quote until after the job was done to see if they could do anything to help us with our decision or offer additional information. They worked hard, despite the hot temperatures, to get the job done when they said they would. They also made sure that the rest of my house was well protected from the mess that this process makes and they cleaned up beautifully when they were done. I would definitely recommend!

Perfect! The guys came when they said they would. They were nice and professional They were very detailed with covering areas and things things to protect them from over spray. They cleaned up everything before they left. The price was better than other quotes had received. What more could you ask for? I would recommended to anyone looking for spray insulation.

I purchased a house about 4 years ago and found the winters cold in certain areas of my home. I called Colonial Green Products for a free estimate. I was given a few options and recommendations, not really knowledgeable on this I went with what was recommended. The workers are friendly, professional and finished on time.

"Originally, we contracted another company at a friend's recommendation to insulate our house, but due to events beyond our control, they had to cancel the job, leaving my family in a difficult situation, and facing an non-insulated Boston winter. I found Colonial Green online, and after reading about them for 2 minutes, I gave them a call and explained my delicate situation. Chris empathized with me and agreed to meet me the following day at my house. We discussed options and I was immediately aware that he was a professional and completely trusted his expertise. He was able to fit my project in between commercial jobs, because he knew the importance of a warm house for a young family. The workers arrived and went immediately to work. STAY AWAY!!! what started out as an $8400 estimate, increased to $10800 by the time the job was done!! What about stretch code did they not understand!! I had other estimates a few hundred higher than the $8400!! Had i known they were going to pull a fast one i would have gone with other insulators!! When i voiced my frustrations over the increase they threatened to put a lien on my property if i did not pay the full amount!! VERY CLASSY!! STAY AWAY!!
