Of the four businesses I contacted, Chore-ology was the only one that responded that they could schedule my work and give me a quote in a timely manner. Matt replaced two ceiling fans, built shelves in a storage unit, and fixed damaged woodwork. He did a good job and was good about communicating with me when traffic prevented him from arriving on time. I will use him again.

Mat provides various services and had fixed a few things in our house, including a couple of leaking faucets, a couple of leaking shower head, and removed stains on the wall in the basement. Because we were selling the house and needed the fixes urgently as well as in specific time frame so it won't interrupt the open house, Mat even came to do the fixes Sunday evening after 7 pm. He also provided quality work. We as well as our seller agent are satisfied by his work for removing the stains on the wall and the ceiling. Overall I would highly recommend Mat for his services.

I recently had Mat replace two bathroom fans in my home, and I couldn't be happier with the service! He walked me through the entire process, explaining the best quality fans to choose from. Matt was extremely accommodating with my schedule and completed the job quickly, leaving almost no trace behind. His professionalism and attention to detail were top-notch. I highly recommend Mat for anyone needing top-tier service and excellent customer care!

Mathew did a fantastic job replacing an old unused side door in my mother's house with a bright new window. He replaced sidelights as well, and trimmed the new window to perfectly match her existing ones. Couldn't have been happier with his efficiency, friendly demeanor, and reasonable price. Highly recommend!

Mat was knowledgeable and capable. Extremely good customer service and very communicative and responsive. Will definitely use their services again when the need arises.

Mat helped with some handyman-type work around the house: fixed a stuck roller shade, replaced several window cranks, replaced a GCFI, and recaulked a shower. He is super responsive and professional. If you want someone who is skilled and doesn’t need to be hounded to make time for you, he is your guy!

I am super thankful for Matt's help. We initially reached out to fix some rot around the basement door that had leaking problems, and Matt thoroughly inspected the issue and helped us solve the underlying moisture problems. He was more thorough and knowledgeable than other contractors we spoke to (my husband said "I wish we had found Matt sooner!"). While there were several issues that needed to be fixed (leaking door, bad drainage, improper flashing), Matt was super reasonable to work with at getting them fixed and advising us on best practices for what we could do ourselves.

I appreciated that he took extra steps for safety and site clean up, given we had a toddler in the house. Overall, great level of expertise, well done work, and really reliable. Would definitely hire again.

Mat has been so great to work with! He eradicated my family’s bathroom mold issue and helped us with some smaller projects around the house (fixed leaky faucet, replaced garbage disposal, etc).

Got a leak, Matt can fix it. Don't know where it originates, Matt will find it. Want to fix it but don't know how, Matt does. Why does some caulk work and others do not, ask Matt. Leak gone.

Prompt, efficient, no-nonsense and explains everything in detail. I can't recommend enough-only I selfishly want to keep to myself! After over 15 different other handymen, this one is golden.

Mat is not only an expert at all things related to home, but he’s a kind and ethical person. This is my second time having him to my home to do a variety of tasks and all were done beautifully. One job in particular was to install a new pendant light in dining room. It required moving the electrical receptacle to a different place in ceiling. He patched old receptacle and needed to match old paint color and repaint entire ceiling. This was done so well. There’s no sign of old box and paint match and painting were terrific. If you want quality work, call Mat.

We used them to fix a broken toilet and they did a great job. Easy to get things started and great communications.

Our experience with Chore-ology was absolutely wonderful. Matt was very flexible in days he worked (we had to change due to a conflict on our side) and the quality of the work was excellent. He didn't charge for one job that he wasn't able to do well (remove scratches on floor) but all other tasks were done professionally and looked great!. We are recommending him to all of our friends and neighbors!

Working with Matt is always a pleasure. He is very detail oriented and patient with making sure the project is what you want. From a variety of projects my partner and I have had done on our properties, we trust him to tackle a wide variety of projects with great knowledge, craftsmanship and judgement. His estimates have been pretty accurate and he's often willing to help out on the little things without adding a bunch of extra charges to make sure you are totally satisfied with a project.

I have had a long list of odd jobs for a while from dock repair to broken lighting and some deck rot. They were able to complete the jobs quickly and professionally. They will be our go to for handyman jobs!

I have had Mat work on a handful of projects in my condo. This time, he removed four 8 ft tall smoked glass mirrors from my living room wall, repaired the drywall, and repainted. As usual, his work was detailed and high quality, and he was responsive and reliable.

I would recommend his work, and have referred him to two friends needing handyman and household services.

We’ve hired Choreology for several household projects over the span of the last three and a half years. The company is a true gem.

We first had reason to contact Choreology when a skylight sprung a big leak one evening and we had a waterfall pouring into our bedroom. Mat was out to the house quickly and up on the roof laying out tarps in the pouring rain. He completed a full remediation to the affected area, and the finished product was better than what was there before.

Choreology is the kind of company that I truly enjoy doing business with. They provide trustable results and deliver above and beyond expectations.

Once, when we were half way around the world and our gas heat went out in the dead of winter, with a bewildered dog sitter staying at our place, our first thought was to contact Choreology. Mat hiked through the snow (the road to our house was impassable) to check things out for us. In that trip, he saved our pipes from freezing over and kept a tankless water heater from dying; and he even got some temporary heat going with space heaters, to boot.

We’ve been happy time and again with Choreology’s professional work and its range of expertise. Whenever we’ve had the need to call in some help for household projects, whether it’s consulting about maintenance or remodeling options and potential vendors or contractors, installing a new toilet, winterizing pipes, or even gutter maintenance, we think to call them first.

I was referred to Chore-ology by another Association Manager. Matt was fantastic to work with. He responded to a water intrusion issue quickly. he did the remediation work, repaired the leaking roof/chimney, and did the interior repairs. He was very thorough, and communicated the repairs and his schedule throughout the whole process.

Mat has helped my rental property with changing the garbage disposal and emergency service of a frozen pipe. He is very knowledgeable and responsive to texts and emails very quickly. Always on time and documents the work in detail. Would certainly recommend and contact Mat to take care of my home.

I've hired Chore-ology and Mat multiple times now! He's repaired and install drywall at my rental property, has replaced, installed, and disposed of a water tank at my home, and has troubleshooted a baseboard heater that didn't work (spoiler: it works now!). Mat is so awesome to work with --- he's very conscientious and courtesy, a great communicator, and takes a lot of pride in doing great work.

Mat and I always end up chatting while he works and he also is a great teacher and explains why he is doing what he is doing and why he thinks such and such is the issue. His knowledgebase is HUGE. Even though Chore-ology is marketed as handyman services, Mat's skillset has a lot of breadth and I would not hesitate to hire him as general contractor for remodel projects or for a roof repair/installation (that's actually his background!).

Every project from start to finish with Chore-ology has been very well laid out and very clear. They stand by their work. Thank you, Mat and Anastasia!

[updated 8/1/2021 evening] I've decided to move on, but Mat replied my review with several untruth:

1. I never approve the 2nd quote until 1:54pm

2. There are several discrepancy in the timestamps that makes the entire invoice questionable, I asked for clarify and Mat did not provide any convincing answer before filing a notice to lien against me.
Specifically, Mat claim in the email that he finished rot investigation at 12:45pm before going to the lumber store, but the lumber purchase receipt time is 11:08am, which is quite concerning. Also there is noticeable gaps between project phases when Mat is not on job/travel/purchase. i.e 40mins gap before receipt and new quote. However all the labor time is self reporting with no auditing. The actual time is clearly under what was invoiced.

3. "Once invoiced, Rui requested a discount in exchange for liking our google business account" -- lie, discount information is listed in the quote page, when I approved the quote I asked if I should review on yelp. I did not request any discount after receiving the invoice.

4. I never refused to pay, I only point out several discrepancies hoping for further clarity before moving forward with payment. Mat lied about the time he spend on rot investigation before heading to the store, it's inconsistent with the receipt timestamp. I can not imagine what else could go wrong.

Even if I had an extremely traumatic experience, I moved on and paid whatever amount the company requested in full just to get peace of mind. I do not want to waste more time on this company and I've learnt my lesson.

TL;DR I do not recommend this company for future home improvement projects. Don’t believe in any good review, as they are discount incentivized.

I chose to hire Mat and Chore-ology to fix my siding issue over several other companies because of the competitive quote, it turned to be a surprisingly traumatic and disappointing experience. Not only the cost escalated quickly to an unreasonable point, the lack of transparency also left my trust abused and feelings hurt.

Several big red flags for any further potential customers:
1. Questionable quality of work
Despite all the traumatic experience, the end result of my siding was not what I expected. I was not there while the work was wrapping up, after checking this morning, the siding seems unfinished with visible color mismatch. [attached a picture of final result]

2. Dishonest:
1) I pointed out several discrepancies based on the evidence like receipt time, communication timestamp and their written explanation on what happened. I asked for clarification and they did not provide a convincing explanation on several timestamps.
2) The amount on the payment link is greater than the amount in the actual invoice email, which is quite misleading and sneaky as customers might not notice the amount difference during payment process.

3. Conflict of interest:
1) After understanding the exact scope of work (with exact material list), I expect the company to provide an accurate upfront quote, then they still provided a misleading one, where the final invoice price skyrocketed.
2) Discount incentivized 5 star reviews on Yelp and Google Map.

4. Unpleasant customer experience
After receiving the invoice[7/30/2021], I immediately reach out to get clarification on several things before I can move forward with payment. They refused to provide a convincing explanation on discrepancy between their written explanations and also threatened to file a lien on my property!! This is beyond traumatic and confusing.

At this point, I'm tired and extremely disappointed. Please choose another company to help with your home improvement work if you want to avoid all the traumas and frustrations that I've experienced

Another great experience with Mat &
Chore-ology. They’ve become our go-tos for all exterior work & have a wide variety of expertise we haven’t found anywhere else. Trustworthy, knowledgeable, responsive, highly skilled, and reasonably priced all things considered. Cannot recommend highly enough.
