Carolina Sheds is only a broker. They simply take your order, process it, and send it to the manufacturer for construction, delivery, and installation. I didn’t have any issues with Carolina Sheds, or their handling of my order. However, they are part of the purchase chain, so they get to share the hit with the manufacturer, in this case, TNT Carports out of Mt. Airy, NC.
TNT has been absolutely abysmal in their handling of my order. Hands down, the worst customer service I’ve ever personally experienced. Clearly they use the “One & Done” business model, because there is no way on this planet, that I would ever give them money again. For anything. Or under any circumstances.
I was called to schedule the delivery of my order. Schedule set, I cancelled and changed my schedule to accommodate delivery. No one showed up. No one called. With only minutes left in the work week, I called TNT Carports, and was informed that the crew was a little behind schedule, and my carport would be delivered and installed the next day (Saturday). In anticipation of this new delivery day, I was forced to cancel a planned family event out of the area as I had delivery coming.
Or so I was told anyway.
No showed up. No one called. No one around on Saturday to answer the phones or provide an explanation.
I didn’t expect anything to happen on Sunday, but in the event I was wrong, I didn’t run errands I needed to run, and stayed close to home instead.
When TNT opened on Monday, I was obviously pretty frustrated. When I spoke the scheduling/customer service people, they told me they were unaware that my order was not delivered. I was also told they would look into it, and call me back with the explanation.
With only minutes remaining in the workday Monday afternoon, no one had called, so I called TNT again to ask them what they had found out about my missed delivery. I was then told that there was a problem with my delivery, and we would need to schedule a new delivery date. When I asked what the problem was, they were unable to provide me with an answer. “All I can tell you is that we will call you 2-3 days before your order is ready to be delivered to schedule delivery”.
I didn’t even get an apology for any of this mess. Not so much as “wow, I’m sorry this happened...” Nothing.
I’m quite unimpressed. A complete lack of professionalism, zero follow through, “unreliable” is being too nice, and the disdain I was treated with was exceptional.
Back to Carolina Sheds....... at this point, my only recourse is to continue to get my chain yanked by a company that clearly has no desire or intention of living up to their end of things, or cancel the order. If I cancel my order, I’m out the $300+ I paid to Carolina Sheds for my deposit. I also have to start the entire process over with a different broker who uses a different manufacturer.
Carolina Sheds, while they have no input or control over what the manufacturer does or doesn’t do, is an extension of TNT Carports. TNT Carports is who they choose to do business with. While I had read mostly positive reviews about Carolina Sheds, I didn’t look into TNT sheds, as I didn’t know who the manufacturer actually was until I received my copy of the contract. Lesson learned when shopping for the next carports and metal buildings we need to purchase: find out who else you are dealing with in the purchase chain, and look into all of them. TNT’s Google reviews are awful. Their Better Business Bureau reviews are just as bad, and both are an accurate reflection of their company.
This should be considered a shining example of how NOT to run a business.
You are only as good as the people you choose to work with. In this case, Carolina Sheds chooses to work with TNT Carports, who are one of the worst companies I think I’ve ever even heard of, let alone had to deal with. I won’t be returning for the remaining five carports I plan to purchase this year, and there is no way I would ever recommend Carolina Sheds and TNT Carports to anyone I actually like.
