This was simply the most incredible experience for us. They listened to what we needed and gratefully changed the design from our original submission. They made such a phenomenal and useful deck. They also made sure certain new requests were added and taken care of as needed. We could not be more grateful and would so highly recommend Blackrock Decks to anyone.

I can’t begin to tell you what a great experience we had working with Blackrock Decks for our deck and pergola. This project had been in the works for several years. I got three different bids, and Blackrock wasn’t the least expensive, but not the most expensive bid either. When Shae came to our home to talk with us, I was impressed with his expertise and knowledge and willingness to spend time with us planning out our project. In fact, we invited him back several times with changes and ideas which he was happy to accommodate. From start to finish the project went smoothly with Shae and his crew, Easton and Nolan, and the electrician and shade installer. I look at my new deck everyday and would do it again in a heartbeat! Blackrock added a custom deck with roof to our existing home. The process was very detailed and thorough. We absolutely love the final result and it looks like a natural extension of our home. colors, style, design match perfectly. Crews were very friendly, professional, and did an amazing job. My daughter Natalie G. hired Blackrock to replace an ancient deck. I live with her and watched the construction from start to finish. Blackrock Crew was awesome to work with! They built the deck in 3 days. Thank you Easton, Nolan, and Carlos! They even helped me carry my new chicken coop from sidewalk to the back fence. Then the awning guy came a few days later to put a roof over the top and Jason Brewer did an above and beyond the call of duty job. He noticed the flashing on the roof was installed wrong so he fixed that to make it right, then he noticed our sliding door wasnt working so he tightened and adjusted it. Our electrical plugs on the deck kept getting tripped and he figured out why and told me how to fix it. The awning is perfect, great construction and best part was the excellent cleanup job he did before he left. Immaculate and so pretty! A joy to sit outside and view the trees and nature! Thank you Blackrock for the great finished product, and excellent workers who do a very professional job! Highly recommend this company!

BlackRock Decks was responsible in replying to my request for estimate to improve my balcony flooring. The upgrade took a reasonable time. The work was completed within the cost estimate.

My rating would have been 5-stars except for their lack of attention to some minor details. The project required rip out. This resulted in areas that required restoration that was not accomplished.

I interviewed four contractors for my large, multi- deck replacement project before selecting Blackrock Decks. it was the right choice. In short, they did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, and the end product is both beautiful and solidly built. Blackrock included nice details that showed the Trex off to its best advantage, including picture-framing the edge of each deck, and mitering each stair. Communication with Chris, the owner, and Amber, in the office, was excellent. They answered every question and made sure I was happy. The finished decks are a fantastic upgrade to my home. We have just experienced a complete replacement of our almost 40-year-old costly-to-maintain wooden deck by Blackrock Homes & Decks. The best way to describe their work is “True Professional Quality”. From the original meeting during the estimating, through the observation of how their crew did the work and our admiration of the final product, we are impressed.  Adding to the positive experience, their client communication procedures and practices were excellent and helped us get what we wanted.  Two minor change orders, one originated by us, were priced fairly and perfectly executed.  We could not be happier!

They did a great job on our deck and we are very satisfied! They tore out our old wooden deck and installed a new deck with trex and cinch railing. They also did a great job turning a window into a door for access to the deck. All of the workers were very professional and they did a great job of updating us as they moved to new parts of the project. It did end up taking longer than we expected, but we were working around stairs being delivered and winter weather. The workmanship was high quality and they were very thorough throughout the whole project. We will definitely look into using them again for future projects!

I am very pleased with my Black Rock experience from start to finish. Shae, Amber, and Phill & crew were very easy to work with and my deck turned out spectacular! They kept to schedule and quoted cost, and communication was excellent. I’ve had bad experiences with contractors in the past but working with Black Rock was a breath of fresh air and I highly recommend them.

Owners were very helpful and did a great and professional job. The installers were wonderful and were very helpful with anything we would ask them. We are very satisfied and will enjoy our deck for years to come.

Overall, the work was ok and we are satisfied with the outcome but there were some issues. The roof line on one side was lower than the other and not square making it difficult for the soffit guy to make the metal line up nicely. The communication from the company could use some improvement. The owner came out in February to give us a bid then when work started, there was no design discussion. We just had to watch and see how it turned out. I had to frequently ask for updates and find out when workers would be coming back. The project that should have taken a couple of weeks took 2.5 months. Accumulatively, throughout the project, there were weeks with no work being done. Due to the extended time it was taking, we elected to fix the drywall holes that the electrician had to make inside ourselves. They did give us a reduction on the overall price for doing this. We understand there is a labor shortage but this is where the communication comes into play and perhaps, not overbooking your jobs.

Great experience with Blackrock Homes; I had a redesign of an existing but incomplete deck and their execution to fix the flaws and finish the rails and stairs turned out great (and fast); communication was excellent from Amber throughout. Shae answered all our questions so we could plan ahead and the crew also was accessible and similarly communicated well and escalated(double checked) with Shae and Amber promptly when we asked some new questions. Finished ahead of my own timeframe expectations; highly recommend!

It took a few days due to the snow, but once they got going the deck was up in just a few days. It's absolutely beautiful, and has already gotten some use on the few warm days we've had. We highly recommend them.

Blackrock replaced my existing deck with a larger mist nicer deck! They were responsive from my initial inquiry and patient with the delays on our part. Once the trigger was pulled they were constantly updating me with the timeframe and once work commenced it was done professionally, quickly and with great care! I'm happy with my new deck and steps. Black Rock removed my old sagging deck and the steps outside my french doors and built new ones from the ground up. The team worked quickly but still did quality work. They clearly were very experienced! The only thing I would have them improve is their communications between the deposit date and the date they arrived to do the work. That may have been a result of how busy they were at the time. They did respond to my questions promptly but just did not reach out to me much to keep me informed. I still recommend them highly due to their quality work. Thank you for my new deck and steps!

Black Rock Homes has completed two different deck projects for us totaling approximately 1,500 feet of Trex Transcend decking. The first project was completed in 2020 for a total 1,225 feed of decking on two levels with a rain escape system and railing plus a large stairway linking the two levels. We liked their work so much the first time that we hired them again in 2021 to complete a 275 square foot extension to the original deck which was completed in 2022. We found them to be very professional and their craftsmanship was excellent. They installed a number of very cool features that added a great final touch to the project. There were two different crews for the two projects and both crews did an exceptional job. We also enjoyed working with Shae both during planning and bidding. I would highly recommend Black Rock Homes for any deck project.

Our neighbor across the street had these guys do a new deck and custom bench and they were working on it a couple weeks ago the day after a HUGE snow storm had dumped 18 inches of snow overnight. Our snow blower was dead and my husband was out of town, so I was struggling to shovel our huge driveway by hand on my own when Kaden (sp?) came out to his truck to get something and saw me. Without a word, he grabbed a shovel, grabbed his colleague Collin and they both came over and helped me shovel my driveway before getting back to their own work. It would've taken me all day by myself and my back was already killing me! They were SO kind and friendly and they weren't even dressed for the job but they did it with a smile and soaking wet feet anyway. If this is what these employees do for someone who isn't even a customer, I can only imagine how they act on an actual job! I did peek over the fence at their finished work a few days later and it's marvelous! If I EVER need any of the services they provide, there is no one else I will even think about calling. BRAVO, Black Rock! Thanks for hiring such great people and for doing great work as well! You have a customer for life.

They built our deck which is awesome. Very professional - they showed they cared. They returned phone calls. I would recommend them without hesitation!

Repaired my balcony which had rain damage/rotten wood. Great quality workmanship. Kept the work site clean. Used safety equipment. Trex surfacing and rain drainage system. Looks nice. I took off one star for communication and scheduling. My calls, emails, and texts were not answered promptly. The estimate was done in April, the work done in September, but they were slow to communicate updated dates as the work was

Black Rock removed a upper floor aging deck and built is a much larger one. They handled the demolition, design, and rebuild and every aspect of this large project with excellence. We used Trex decking products. They added stairs to the ground level that were not there before. The project turned out incredible and we could not be happier. The design was well designed with licensed engineering, and constructed with the utmost quality, durability and professionalism. The carpenters and builders were very skilled and efficient.
Chris, the owner has a great team and is great to work with. Very responsive. I would highly recommend this company!

We are so pleased with how our project turned out! We had had our cement patio extended, replaced our back steps with trex, and had an alumnawood awning installed over the entire patio. It all turned out beautiful and was completed quickly. There was a delay on some materials but we were notified of the timeline along the way. Everyone we interacted with was kind and helpful.

We used Black Rock Homes for our deck. They had to take the old deck down and had to build a waterproof deck with rain escape underneath and some lighting.
I have never felt included into a project like this guys did throughout our project. We waited for three months and when the day came to get down the deck, I thought I was actually dreaming.
Talk about showing up on time everyday for two weeks sometimes Saturday too just to have it done on time because we do business at home and they understood that it was important to get done within the time flame given. We do have a big deck and the hot days did not make it any easier but that was not going to stop them.
Our questions were answered right if we ended up with any, which was not common because they always made sure we knew what’s going on the next day.
Very professional people to work with .
Keep in mind, they do clean up every end of the day so you are not left behind with trash around. Not many do that.
And when the project was done. The last cleaning person was even willing to take my extra throw away stuff from remodeling my basement. They didn’t have to do that but going extra mile is really what they strive for.
Chris is the Man. He made sure to stop by most of the evenings to see how the project is coming along and if I had any questions. And we walked through and him making sure every screw is on right. You bet he knows he stuff to the top.
I can go on and on but trust me, I have worked with a lot of guys to do work around my house and the anxiety of it is not something joyful. This guys just proved to me that there are people who really deliver what they promise.

I heartily endorse Black Rock Homes and would strongly recommend them to anyone looked to have a deck built or remodeled. They scheduled an estimate visit within 24 hours of when o first contacted them. Chris was on time and very friendly & seemed extremely knowledgeable. He was very patient @ answered all of our questions thoroughly. He said he would get back to us with a quote within 48 hours, but we had it within 24 hours. We were very happy with the quote & told him to go ahead & get us on the schedule. We asked him when they would start and he was able to give us a start date immediately. They started the job right on time. The crew was very friendly & professional - it was obvious that they were competent and well trained. They kept the job site clean @ orderly the entire time. We got exactly what we were promised when we were promised. We had to request a couple of additions and they were very flexible, accommodating & fair as far as pricing. My project was to replace an old redwood deck that contoured my sidewalk with new Trek Decking. The job required quite a bit of excavation after the old deck was removed. Getting a bid was difficult as contractors failed to return calls or came out and showed no understanding of the scope and complexities of the job. When Shae Hansen, the owner, came out, I knew I had found my professional deck builder. He immediately grasped the scope, made recommendations, and submitted his bid as promised.
The first crew to arrive had to move a hot tub, shed, and tear out the old deck. In addition they had to remove a significant amount of dirt and dig to install concrete footings. They worked diligently and always allowed me to insert my input though they knew what they were doing.
Once the first crew was finished the framers came in. What a joy to see young men with such framing and carpenter skills. They were organized and displayed very little wasted motion. The substructure was a thing of beauty and much better than the original. Their placement of the Trex Boards showed their true skills. Each board had to be cut precisely, spaced uniformly and secured thoroughly. The spacing was kept even in the smallest quarters of the deck. These men are young but extremely good at what they do. When I had an issue Shae was there to insure it was resolved. When the hot tub was only shimmed and not on a pad, Shae told me that the crew would return the following afternoon to make a pad. He personally returned with his crews to ensure the pad was to my liking. In addition he brought two crews (6 men) to ensure the tub was moved without scratching the new deck. Very impressive. Overall it was great working with a company that had a process for all aspects of the job from the initial bid to the final invoicing. Shae runs a tight operation and I will use him to build a second deck at my home and I will gladly recommend his company to anyone who asks.

We had a deck that needed to be replaced. It was a pretty big project with a two level deck, four sets of stairs, and benches all along the lower deck. Chris helped us make some design changes that allowed the deck to be more functional. Everything from the demolition to the installation of the lights was great. We couldn’t be more pleased with their excellent craftsmanship to their cleanup each day. I would recommend Chris and his team wholeheartedly.

We asked Black Rock to build a deck for us. Once they came out the deck was built within two weeks. We also asked for a pergola, which was delayed due to Covid. However, they always kept us informed about time frames, and we're professional in every way. I would recommend them without hesitation.

They cleaned up old garden boxes and steps from back door to patio, then added additional concrete to expand existing patio, installed new Trex landing and steps and awning with lights and fan. There was some delays in starting due to COVID 19, but once they started, they worked fast and were very thorough. The quality of work was superb and we couldn't be happier with the result. Prices were reasonable and entire job did not exceed initial quote. Would highly recommend these guys and used them again if needed.

Black Rock was recommended to us by the good folks at Goliath Tech helical piers for a covered deck we’d been planning/saving for. In addition to the recommendation, their bid was competitive and Chris was super great to talk with - so we went with them. They did a fantastic job on our deck, we couldn’t be happier! Chris was up front with all costs/charges and we stayed on budget. Our deck was not a big project for them, so they squeezed us in when they could and it ended up taking a bit longer than we/they thought it would - hence 4 out of 5 stars. Even still, we liked Chris and his team so much that we had them build us a small outbuilding as well.
