Black Goose Chimney Service

Ben and his team showed up at my house because I had some concerns about carbon monoxide. I’ve never seen individuals take so much time and effort to try to identify the problem. They spent nearly an hour of their time trying to help diagnose it. At the end of the meeting when I asked them for the bill, they said “no charge because we didn’t need to perform a service”…. My response, “not happening! Send me a bill or I’m writing you a bad review”. needless to say, I couldn’t be more thrilled to give them a five star review. They were neat, respectful, and the level of expertise is tremendous. Looking forward to having them back to help with our other needs in the future.

Very careful service/cleaning work and very detailed assessment of our property's chimney and wood stove needs. Their prices appear to have gone up a lot since our last service in 2019, but it looks like they are doing more careful work too so that makes sense.

These folks at Black Goose are terrific!! Anna & the guys are great to work with. They are kind to give you a call before heading to your place & there's usually discounts offered pending different types of programs they're offering at any given time. They did work on my chimney & looked like they were even kind to clean out my gutters while up there. Thanks guys!! They rock!!

I knew the chimney in my new home was a mess and basically nonfunctional because the inspector told me and showed me the pictures, but when Ben and his team came out, he was very specific, very thorough and informative about my options. I look forward to the next step: the repairs, so I can once again sit by my fireplace.

These guys are a class-act. They arrived on time and the technicians were professional and courteous. After cleaning our dryer vent, they explained what they had collected, provided a detailed report showing increased airflow and provided some tips to slow down future lint accumulation.

The purpose of requesting Black Goose Chimney Sweep was to sweep my chimney. They said that as part of the service they would inspect and give recommendations as well as sweep. It appears like they did a good inspection with the recommendations of needed repairs. However, when it comes to the sweeping portion of the visit I believe giving them 1 star is to generous. I read the inspection then looked over my 2 fireplaces and chimney. While looking in both there remained large spider webs that would be gone if a sweeping had occurred . Also when I stuck my upper body into the fireplace to look at 1 of their concerns all sorts of black matter kept falling in my face. I would be embarrassed to say that I swept the chimney.

Black Dog Chimney came to my home to inspect my chimney and I couldn’t have been more pleased. The team of Richard, Rico, and Sean (I think) were very professional at all times during their visit. Everything was explained in full detail of their findings and repair recommendations. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Black Dog Chimney to anyone, very professional company.

Richard was very nice and pointed out all the issues I was having and explained everything thoroughly so that I could understand what was going on and why. Would highly recommend.

I would give Black Goose Chimney Sweep 10 Stars if I could. I had two fireplaces in my almost 50 year old house that had not had fires burned in them in many years. I had called another Chimney Sweep to come out to inspect and clean them, to let me know whether they were okay to burn fires in. They came out and told me that it was okay to burn fires in both chimneys. One chimney had rusted out holes in the Firebox from water coming down the chimney over the years. Not feeling comfortable with their assessment, I called Black Goose chimney sweeps out. If I had not called them out and had gone ahead and burned fires in my fireplace I probably would have burnt my house down. Black Goose chimney is extremely professional, extremely knowledgeable, and extremely thorough in assessing fireplaces and chimneys. After assessing mine by putting a camera up the chimney while I watched on the screen, I was told that I should not burn fires in either one. There had already at some point in the past been a chimney fire in one of them. Multiple cracks in, and chipped pieces out of the clay lining. Huge amounts of creosote in the chimneys which were supposedly cleaned by the previous Chimney Sweep that came out. I highly recommend Black Goose chimney sweeps. You can feel confident that your fireplaces are truly safe after they have inspected them.

The crew who did the inspection presented themselves is a very professional manner and were extremely knowledgeable. They were also very clear in explaining what problems our chimney has and describing what they proposed to do to fix the problems. We look forward to their arrival to do the work.

They show up on the day they say they will. They are expensive. I would prefer the video inspection be done first and then the total price of service be based upon the amount of sweeping/cleaning needed.

Ben and his team are fantastic. We highly recommend their services. I also recommend that you get them in to your old Roanoke home before do ANYTHING associated with your fireplace, your furnace, your hot water heater...basically anything associated with that ole chimney. They have a deep wealth of experience and knowledge and can save you BIG bucks!

Mason was on time, polite, well- spoken and extremely knowledgeable. He and the 2 other men did a thorough examination of the chimney from the ground up to the roof top and gave it a good cleaning. I will definitely call Black Goose for further work and for advice and recommendations on the purchase of a wood stove.

Not good experience, everyone can have off day. Way over priced cleaning one flue and pressure washing mold off out side 6 foot chimney on roof. It would be shocking to post the quote. I asked twice to them re-visit quote with no response. So we will do it ourselves. I guess they thought that an old couple would have no choice but to go a long. This my opinion, I read the other reviews that was reason I called them. Could have had change in management or owner. I would not call back or ever use. I gave them 2 stars the guys were polite and respectful.

We had a good meeting with Richard and his workers. He was very knowledgeable and patient in explaining the repairs that needed to be done and the process to complete the project.

Ben and Donovan (sorry if I got that name wrong) were fantastic! Honest about what really needed to be done and making sure that work previously done by them was fixed to meet today’s standards at no cost to me. They did a sweep, inspection, located water intrusion and provided proposals with detailed explanations as to the scope of work involved. My cat even liked them

My chimney received a through evaluation for water damage, cracks in the brick and mortar, crown issues, creosote buildup, flue liner and current wood stove function. I had an in-depth discussion of the finding with photos to aid explanations of what was going on with my chimney and stove and steps needed to fix the issues. This is a very professional company who I look forward to working with in the near future. If you have chimney issues, Black Goose is who you should call.

Black Goose has cleaned and inspected our wood stove and chimney for 7 years. They are always friendly, prompt and very professional. We wouldn't trust anyone else.

The initial meet was cancelled due to rain, but they were very good at communicating with me about it. It was easy to reschedule an appointment despite my limited availability. The initial meet was to get my chimney inspected. 3 members of the team showed up for the appointment and Black Goose was very good at communicating through both text and email leading up the appointment. Once there, the lead did a very thorough job looking at all aspects of the chimney and clearly explaining to me what he sees. I found him to be transparent despite the large cost that was going to be associated with the final verdict on what needed to be completed. He was also upfront about the way the costs worked and that they offered 18 month 0% financing. After I paid the initial 1/3 downpayment for the rest of the work to be completed there was some minor discrepancy between what I was told and what I was seeing. I emailed about this with my calculations and asked them to double check. They were very prompt in responding and cleared up the miscommunication that had occurred. I am very pleased with the companies overall customer service.

I’ve been using Black Goose for over 10 years (beginning in 2013). I have my appliance and chimney cleaned every year. They always call prior to their arrival and arrive on time. Everyone has always been considerate, respectful and professional. They are very knowledgeable and do an excellent job. They explain everything they will be doing and offer recommendations, without being pushy. They are very reliable, friendly and I recommend without reservation.

Update: After waiting several months for my appointment there was a problem with getting the necessary materials for my wood stove installation and the job was threatened to be delayed. The owner of the company made a special effort to get the needed materials for the job to be done, and I do appreciate that. He completely turned around what could have been a bad experience with Black Goose. At this point, I recommend them as a reputable company.

The guys who did our chimney inspection were friendly, competent, and answered all my questions. It will be good to see them in April and have the work done.

Black Goose Chimney provided an exemplary level of service and an abundance of knowledge along with that, when cleaning two flues and performing a top to bottom chimney inspection at our newly purchased home. We were very pleased.
