I have never had anyone work in my house the way these guys did. They went above and beyond at every step of the job.
The roof had 2 layers and I had moisture on the attic side of the sheeting. There were also 2 joists that had to be replaced. (Other contractors, advised me that it would be too much trouble to replace the warped joists, one of them suggested that he would cut out the middle and sister the top and bottom because he didn't want to disrupt the soffit.) Baruch understood the importance of having straight joists (snow load, nailing the new sheeting without guessing where the joist was) and had no problem replacing them.
The first move which impressed me, was moving all of the yard furniture and they set up heavy duty tarps which acted as protection for the house as well as a sled for all of the shingles they were going to rip off. They slid right to the ground without any trouble and it kept the mess to a confined area.
They ripped the roof, replaced 2 joists, replaced a total of 24 sheeting boards. Installed the ice shield and a rigid ridge vent. Shingled the roof, replaced 4 vent boots, closed an existing attic fan and added 2 heavy duty bathroom exhaust fan vents.
I also had them bend copper for the chimney flashing which would make a shelf for the decorative stone to sit on. They nailed the wood for the shelf to the existing brick chimney, then they covered the whole thing with ice shield, (1000% above and beyond) and then placed the copper flashing they bent on site over the shelf.
To put stone on the chimney the way I want it to look, they had to remove the existing aluminum siding, and run flashing from the sheeting to the chimney. It's almost impossible to remove aluminum siding without damaging it. When the siding came off they were like surgeons. Every piece was removed carefully and placed to the side. The house was built in 1973, the old "tyvek" was basically a very thin tinfoil type of marterial. The wind was blowing it off the house. They took it upon themselves to install a brand new wind/vapor barrier before reinstalling the aluminum siding. My jaw dropped!! Who does that?? Baruch works on your house the way they do on their own.
After the work was finished they spent about 2 hours going over all of the drop areas and the driveway with a big rolling magnet to get any nails that may have gotten away from the packing of the dumpster.
All of this work was completed in a day and a half. I can finally sleep with a clear head. I have a great new roof that will last a lifetime.
I believe the warranty for the roof material is 50 years and Baruch gave me a 25 year labor warranty. To stand behind your work when it's beaten by the elements daily for 25 years is absolutely incredible!!
I received an estimate from Baruch and 4 other companies. There was one contractor that was cheaper than Baruch but I didn't like any of his answers. I'm so thankful I went with Baruch, words cannot describe!!
When it comes time to do the siding, I already know who my contractor is going to be. In my opinion, price is definitely a deciding factor but QUALITY is the #1 of importance!!
Thank you for a wonderful job which exceeded my wildest expectations! You guys should teach other contractors how to treat their customers and work with the diligence you do!!
We had moisture coming in through our fireplace. Luis from Baruch determined the cause was the flashing around the chimney which he replaced. However, the leak continued. He also mis-identified efflorescence leaching from the bricks of the fireplace due to the moisture -- as mold! He insisted it was mold and treated the bricks with mold remover. The next day they were worse. The leak continued. We called another company who saw that the leak was caused by holes in the chimney that required a new cap and repointing. They had to replace the new flashing to repair the bricks. Luis had never even looked at the chimney and replaced the flashing without knowing if that was the problem, which it wasn't.
Roofing work was done at a reasonable, competitive price, the company satisfied our expectations. I am sure if you go with this company you will be pleased also
