A Rusted Development

Paid them to rebuild my front brakes ended up needing rear brakes as well so I decided to do it myself since they charge a lot of money for “quality” work. Well after I installed the rear brakes and bled them I was having issues with the front brakes and come to find out they charged me to rebuild both front drums and only rebuilt one side. Don’t take your stuff here.

Great service, friendly crew. Picked up a nail on Christmas Day and they had my tire plugged up and got to go in 20 minutes when I stopped in the next day

This is the best shop! I come here exclusively for all my repair needs. The last time I dropped my car off, I let them know I wouldn’t be back before they closed and to just leave my keys in it. Instead, they DROVE my car to to my job and brought the keys inside to me.

Took my 2001 cruiser for some much needed work. The whole process with getting a quote, scheduling an appointment and dropping it off was really smooth. The work was done on time and within the provided quote. Will be coming back for more work in the future.

Jake helped us when we were in a bind with some problematic tires. They were able to get us a better set of tires and were very friendly! If we lived closer, I'd use them for other auto work.

FRAUD ALERT!
We took our vehicle into A Rusted Development for a brake assessment because our brakes were squealing. Although my husband knew how to replace brakes, we were staying at our cabin for the summer and he didn't have tools to do this job. A Rusted Development called with the estimate approximately an hour after leaving the car. They reported we needed full brake pad and rotor replacements for both front and back which would cost $999.00. My husband said that was too much and went to pick up the car. He was charged their 30 minute labor cost for the assessment of $98.00. My husband borrowed tools from friends and purchased front and back pads and rotors for $387.05 at an Auto Zone in Salt Lake. When he removed the calipers and got a good view of the pads and rotors, he discovered neither pads nor rotors were in need of replacing! The squealing noise had been caused from the brake pad clips only in need of grease! He was able to return the newly purchased pads and rotors for a refund from Auto Zone. He requested his money back from A-Rusted Development for their invented estimate, which they readily gave him back. When he suggested to them that their mis-representation was fraudulent, the owner objected. APPARENTLY THE OWNER BELIVES FRAUD ONLY COUNTS IF THEY ARE CAUGHT AFTER GETTING AWAY WITH CHARGING HIM A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR UNNEEDED WORK! Attached is a picture of the new and old brake pads side-by-side.

Everyone I worked with here was pleasant. They are very knowledgeable with LS issues. I would recommend this place for sure if you need major engine work done.

Jake took on a difficult transfer case issue that no one else wanted to get involved with or work on. If he wouldn’t have taken this on we would have had to get rid of our vehicle. At A.R.D, handshake deals still matter and they keep their word. It was a completely painless process from start to finish. I used to run a Service Dept and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Fantastic. I take my 2018 Duramax there for pretty much everything including oil changes! Very good turnaround time. Fair prices and quality work.

Jake and Izzy took care of me. My cruiser needed a new transmission. It took forever to get the trans from Japan to Kamas. Izzy was always available to answer questions. Jake lent me a car to get to work till I could arrange another ride. ARD is a great shop!

Jake, Izzy and crew are great. My 23 year old 100 series needed a bit of work, quote was very reasonable and the work was completed on schedule and on budget. Jake and crew were awesome to work with. They replaced knuckle bearings and all brakes hardware, rear pinion seal, all belts, and fixed tie rod ends to cure steering issue and alignment. Jake also hooked me up with two complimentary tees. Thanks guys!

We were stranded in the Uinta mountains with a dead battery/alternator. Jake came to our rescue helping us get back to Kamas and to his shop where he sourced and installed a new battery and alternator within no time. It was the weekend and technically his shop was closed but he went above and beyond to help us. This type of service is very rare these days and he went out of his way to help us get our van fixed. Our situation could have been much worse without his help! We HIGHLY recommend his shop, A Rusted Development for excellent service and quality!! Thanks Jake!! Jake & team take care of our 81' BJ42. A bit of an odd duck in the LC family, but AR Development is able to source parts and has the mechanical / technical expertise to keep our truck running safely and reliably. I trust in their expertise for anything LC-related and would would recommend to anyone.

A Rusted Development did an engine swap for me (LS3 in 80 Series Land Crusier). They did an excellent job and approached it more like craftsmen building something with care than mechanics slapping something together. Very communicative during the process and responsive afterward. I would recommend them as use them again for this work. And, the final bill was exactly what was initially quoted.

Took my JDM import 1995 Mitsubishi Pajero to Jake and the team for a blown head gasket, whole new top end, A/C install and to do a full check up after importing it. The did an amazing job working on this odd ball Japanese 4x4. I won’t take it anywhere else now

Super thorough, they went through everything for my old Tacoma to make sure it’s safe and reliable. Every small noise my truck made was looked into and fixed. Worth the drive over from SLC. Also Izzy at the front desk is amazing and super knowledgeable!

Took my 2004 Land Cruiser in for some needed repairs and received excellent help from the A.R.D. team. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and quick to diagnose and perform the necessary work and helpful in making not only the base repairs but gave me several options to enhance my vehicle’s performance without any sales pressure. My 2001 Land Cruiser drives like a new car because of the skills of the crew at A Rusted Development. I've been going to them for almost 10 years. Along with the scheduled services...they've installed new shocks, torsion bar, leveler kit, wheels, tires, brakes, stereo system with rear camera and blue tooth, and other items I can't recall at this time. Saved our vacation! We called A Rusted Development in the morning when our Transit wouldn't turn on and they squeezed us in. They fixed the problem and we hit the road that evening. They have amazing customer service and are willing to find the problem and communicate very well before they do any maintenance work. I had the guys here rebuild the engine on my ‘91 Land Cruiser. Not only did they do a great job but they are great to work with. Jake was very patient with me (I’m super picky and overthink everything). He has been great to work with after the fact as well taking care of the little things that come up after an engine rebuild. I will happily refer them to everyone I know and will definitely be going back!

Waiting for the managers call, that k God I didn't hold my breathe. Oil change has turned into a major front window cracked, sunroof cracked, hood completely destroyed. All because the latch was not tightened.

First visit to this great shop w/ my 3rd gen 4runner. These guys do things right, and cleaned up a bunch of garbage work from other shops around the area. This will be the only place I take my Toyotas in the future!

No other shop in town would put in the aftermarket ball joint I wanted in my f250, especially without doing their own analysis of what was wrong. They put it in on relatively short notice and did a great job. They will definitely be my new local shop for jobs I don’t want to do myself.

I had complete failure of the wheel bearing on my Chevy Avalanche while coming down from my campsite near Kamas during a weekend of mountain biking. After a stressful drive down a steep rocky trail and a slow grind down Mirror Lake Highway, I pulled into the ARD lot with my front wheel cockeyed and barely hanging on, smoking hot nearly on fire, and the plastic center cap melting off. I was half expecting to be turned away or have to wait several days since the main focus seems to be awesome Land Cruisers, but they saved the day and were able to get the parts needed quickly to get my truck back up and rolling better than ever. My friends and I were able to get a nice bike ride in on some trails near the shop and by the time we were done with our ride Jake and his team were already finished. I was very grateful that they were able to get my repair done so quickly and I was able to make the 7 hour drive home to Montana on time. The head honcho, Jake Smith, and I share a name so that's pretty cool too and he is a 10/10 human.

I left my Jeep here for a list of minor repairs. After two months and three phone calls that weren’t returned I showed up to check on it. It had not been touched and no excuse was given as to why they hadn’t gotten to it or returned my calls. I took my business elsewhere.

I live an hour from this shop and I never hesitate to make the drive when I need any work done on one of my Landcruisers. Jake and the rest of the team are good and good. Good at what they do and good people. They are fair in their price and I never question the quality or care they put into their work.

This place is great. Jake is a very professional and nice guy who runs a great shop. They have done work for me at the old location and now at their new Kamas location. I drive from Park City to Kamas because I know they will do the work when promised, as promised and at a fair price. I absolutely recommend this shop!

Best experience at a car place! These guys are totally on the ball and got me in super quick! I called around a bunch of places to get a tow hitch put on my car. Reached out to these guys on like Friday buy the following Wednesday was good to go! They can do so many different things and are super honest, affordable and quick! A Rusted Development is the best Land Cruiser shop in the State of Utah. Arguably on the west coast. Jake and his crew know cruisers inside and out. They all go out of their way to help diagnose problems with all of our old rust buckets. If you own a land cruiser or any vehicle you couldn't be in better hands. I'm giving 5 stars because I know how great they are even though Jake calls me a nerd. Keep up the good work guys!

The battery in my Honda Element died. After AAA started it, I drove down the road to the shop. It was 5:30. Jake met me outside one of the bays. I explained the situation, thinking the previous shop was still there. Jake said, "They closed their doors at 5:00 and we are the new owners." Without missing a beat, Jake said he'd get me a new battery and change it on the spot. A Rusted Development gave me stickers and t-shirt. (Seriously, how could there be a better name for a restoration shop?) Jake and his team are my new go-to. Kamas just got really lucky with this crew in town. (Oh, did I mention I was back home by 5:50 pm?)

Had some issues with my wife's car had the clutch replaced at another shop in heber and it was a disaster, didn't want to go back to them. Had no idea ARD was a 4x4 specialist but Jake told me they do general repairs and work too. After reading others reviews I took the plunge and glad I did. These guys were nice, professional and when I walked into the shop I had a good feeling about this place. Great communication on what was happening when it'd be done and when there was a delay it was explained and not their fault due to wrong part delivery from subaru. I just had Jake and the ARD team install my Ironman 4x4 stage 3 Foam Cell Pro suspension yesterday on my 1999 LX470. There’s no better feeling than entrusting your Land Cruiser to a team that knows these trucks inside and out and will do the job right! So stoked that I brought my rig to them! My installation was fast, affordable and the service that the ARD team gave me was better than any other place that I’ve brought my truck to get serviced. I love these guys. I moved to Heber last summer and had some quick fixes to my first gen 4Runner that they did a great job with. Fast forward a few months and my son was driving to school and the drive shaft dropped with a broken drive shaft coupling. One of the mechanics was on his way in to work and recognized my car on the side of the road with my son underneath so he pulled over to help out. Towed the car in right then and got it fixed the same day with super fair pricing. Super helpful - I recommend these guys to anybody that wants their 4x4 fixed right.
