A Fine Finishing

EDITED to Add: We still don't have the money from the reconciliation of work not done. It's been over 8 months of waiting. We also had an environmentalist come out and tested our basement. It appears Fine Finishing didn't thoroughly clean the soot and char from our basement, which they claim they did. DO NOT USE THEM! Absolutely terrible. Stalled our restoration for months, and then quit. Immediately after they quit, they brought in a lawyer who has been their liaison. Very suspicious. Their reconciliation of work performed to refund us unused deposit was severely incorrect. They insisted it was correct, even with our photographic proof. I don't trust them, their work, or their employees. Their attention to detail was horrific. It's been months, and we still haven't seen our money. Lastly, personal property from our house vanished while they were involved. DO NOT USE THEM!

I've been working with Fine Finishing now, for about two years, on a single project. I know that it's tough these days to find contractors and coordinate projects, but this has seemed to have taken way too long. We had a water leak inside our addition that has caused damage to ceiling and walls, trim and carpet. Two other internal repairs(by other contractors) did not fix it. Fine Finishing came out, suspected the second story window wasn't flashed properly and once they came out and tore off the second story siding, they found the second story window was never sealed. So, that blowing Canton wind and rain we get a few times a year, would penetrate around the window and run down the second story, right into where the addition connects to the existing house and leak into the addition. Dianna Moore(our main contact at Fine Finishing) has been outstanding to work with the whole time. She's communicative, clear and punctual. She knows her stuff and shows up at the appointments. The quality of the outside work we had done (rip off alum siding, seal window, Tyvek second story, re-side with matching vinyl siding, trim, caulk) was exceptional. The crew was very rough with moving our things on the deck to prep the site and left alot of mess and debris each day, but overall the quality of the work was great.

Fast forward a few months to the inside work, now that the source of the leak was fixed. The inside drywall and paint crew left much to be desired. They were very messy, didn't plastic seal the addition from the rest of the house, so drywall dust got throughout the main level, missed a huge spot of painting on the wall, didn't paint the trim properly, got paint on the ceiling fan blades and missed a huge spot of the repair on the main area that had had the water damage, even though I explicitly pointed it out. When I pointed it out when they were finished, they got kind of argumentative and said they didn't remember me saying that. They also got white ceiling paint on the ceiling beam and immediately said they didn't do that, just as I looked up at it to examine it. Just overall messy and unprofessional, mediocre quality in their work and not willing to listen to me or take my concerns seriously.

I called Dianna. She was great. She immediately apologized and began the process of making it right. Came out to inspect the situation and agreed that she wouldn't accept this job in her own house, scheduled a replacement drywall and paint team and when they came out last week, they did an exceptional job. We are now completely satisfied with the work and it's finally done.

So - not sure I can wholly recommend Fine Finishing, but I certainly have high praise for Dianna Moore as an excellent project management who is probably constrained by the availability and quality of her crews.
