Had boiler issue with drafting and A1 Affordable were the answer. They accommodated my busy schedule and were knowledgeable and fair in price. Cleaned up after themselves and did good work. Would recommend and will use them for any future projects.

Kenny was fabulous. He inserted a chimney liner and was very professional. He explained everything and found a brush in our chimney. He was such a positive person, we loved dealing with him.

We had a carbon monoxide alarm go off very early on a Sunday morning. The fire department recommended A-1 affordable. They were here at 9 the next morning. My fireplace was smoking out after purchasing my new home and paying for an home inspection which didn’t say anything about the fireplace other than a level 2 chimney inspection . I went on google and came across A1- Affordable . I saw mixed reviews but decided to give them a chance . I called the 1800 number and sheenah answered . I explained my situation and booked an appointment. The next day a technician was sent out to assess the situation and after an hour Steven came in , showed me pictures and gave me some recommendations. After getting 3 quotes my husband and I decided to go with A1 to restore our living room fire place . Within 24 hours Steven had a work crew led by Aurelio . The first day they performed a PCR and removed all the creosote from my 1966 fireplace . After 72 hours they came back out and restored my fireplace with a product called thermal crete . A week later I’m burning my fireplace with no smoke back . Thank you so much A1 …..

My house got sooted out , carbon monoxide alarms going off , fire department at my house around 9pm evacuating the property . I called local chimney companies around the Pottstown areas , and got no answer . My neighbor came across the street and asked what’s going on , thanks Tim !!! I explained everything to him and he recommended to call A1-Affordable that did multiple services at his home . I called A1 and Jessica picked up the phone . She listened to my concerns and said I’ll have a tech there within the hour . These guys arrived in less than an hour , assessed the situation and explained to me what was going on . I agreed to get the work done and they did the job within 2 hour. My heating chimney collapsed and led to carbon monoxide entering my home . Technician Krish, or Chris , too much going on at the time and Fresnal , immediately started to work on unblocking the chimney and guided me through the whole experience. 2 hours later everything was completed and I was able to bring my tenants and family back into the house . BE WARNED!!!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would! We hired A1 through Region Oil as they were recommended. They came out and informed us that we needed a liner installed and some chimney repair work done. We received a quote of $3250. We paid upfront and the day they came out, none of the workers spoke English. My wife was home and asking questions and none of them could be answered. My wife had to pick up my daughter from school at 3 so she tried telling the crew, but all they could reply was “Yes”. At 3pm my wife had to leave and had to ask them to leave the house. She also found one of the men wandering and looking around our back yard and what that had to do with the chimney, I have no idea. They finally finished for the day. 2 days later we are woken up, at 7am on a Saturday,  to the sounds of our carbon monoxide alarm going off and the police and fireman on the way. We had to evacuate the house. We have lived at our home for 18 years and have never had an issue until A1 came in. Obviously I called A1 and received a call back from Mike. I explained what happened and he said he wanted to find out what happened. I informed him that the workers he sent the other day did not speak English and we didn’t want them back. We needed someone to look and explain the issue. Once everything was given the all clear we re-entered the house and Mike called back, I told him we had an appt and could not be home as he wanted to send someone. It was a Saturday and we had plans in place for weeks so we told him we would be back by 1pm. So what does Mike do? He is petty so he sends over 3 more workers that don’t speak English, just to spite us, and had the nerve to tell me that it was my fault because we had plans those were the only people he could send. All this after he told me he has very few non - English speaking employees. Again! They could not explain one thing that happened or what the underlying issue was or what they were even going to be doing. In addition  to that A1 never sent us the invoice for the work when it was done. I had to call and ask. Once we received it , there was an additional charge that we were not informed of for a permit. I then received a sympathetic call from Sal, who claimed to be an owner. I spoke to him for 30-40 min about the issue and what happened and how it scared my children and my wife. He suggested that we should receive some money back for the headaches we were put through and basically said he didn’t see any issue with us getting something back for what happened. 2 days later, I called Sal back and the entire mood changed. He explained that it wasn’t up to him and that Mike, the unsympathetic person we dealt with earlier, would be making the decision. I am not holding my breath. Be aware. This company has ZERO customer service and it seems that they will try to sneak in charges here and there. Mike is not a stand up guy and Sal is a joke and a liar. I would stay away. There are much better companies out there. I will NOT be having anyone from A1 step in my house again.

Just wanted to make a note since the business replied the way they did. I am so glad they got it right after 2 visits and the first one caused a carbon monoxide leak. Go ahead and take your chances with a business that can't get it right the first time around. These guys are a joke.

GET 2 OTHER QUOTES IN WRITING!

This was my experience:

An elderly family member of mine currently living on a fixed income recently had a very bad experience working with A-1 Affordable. She called them for a chimney repair. They were quick to respond and completed the work quickly. The quality of work was good. However, the bill was a great deal more than what she initially agreed to and we feel she drastically overpaid.

The A-1 Affordable sales representative rushed through the process and did not provide a written estimate prior to starting the job. In addition, A-1 Affordable failed to produce any written change orders during the time that the work was being done to receive approval for the additional work. The final bull was WAY more than discussed.

The final bill was also indecipherable (photo below). When asked for a breakdown so we could figure out what happened, the sales representative claimed that he couldn't remember the pricing and instructed us to call their office. Being a trusting elderly woman that didn't think this could happen, she felt pressured and in turn just wrote out the check.

After allegedly trying to figure out what happened, an A-1 Affordable office staff member ALSO could not read the receipt that their own salesman provided. After repeatedly calling their office and making a visit for over a week to find out how we got billed so much money, an office staff member finally called back with a verbal explanation that didn't make any sense. Their lack of transparency was truly both shocking and disappointing.

We also requested an estimate to have our roof replaced by A-1 Affordable. After pricing them out against the two qualified competitors, we realized that they were 40% higher in price. Once again, it was the sales representative giving pricing verbally, while he later stated that he forgot the pricing that he had just quoted during the conversation a short time earlier.

When researching A-1 Affordable we confirmed they do a lot of work for PSE&G. The quality of their work is good, but unfortunately it seems as though they charge private homeowners as though they are also utility companies. They are well established and have a more than impressive facility for a roofing company. Even more impressive is their employee parking lot, filled with Porches and other very expensive luxury cars.

Of course a company is free to work at whatever profit margin that they choose. However, being honest and upfront with their customers regarding pricing before they perform the work is something that any reputable company should always do.

Bottom line is that I would strongly recommend anybody considering A-1 Affordable to perform any work for them to get at least two other estimates and to require that everything be clearly stated in legible writing prior to starting the job to avoid having a similar experience to the one I have described.

I do hope this post motivates A-1 Affordable to become a more transparent company when dealing with the public, because there is no reason that any customer should feel the way that I described after working with any contractor.

My row house in South Philly is over 100 yrs old and I replaced a 40 year old boiler with Sila and they recommended A-1 and I'm so glad they did because looking at the photos - before and after - I realized I really needed that chimney liner. A crew of 3 people came out and worked 4 or 5 hours and inspired my confidence. They cleaned up and I will have A-1 come annually to clean my chimney and thereby I will maintain the lifetime warranty.

So I left a two word review be careful. A-1 was kind enough to respond that they noticed that I had left similar reviews. So now you are going to hear it. Not to mention that this company has plenty of 1 ⭐ reviews, actually have almost as many one star reviews as five star and yet they manage to maintain a 4.0 rating. This company is affiliated with some of the largest oil companies like Meenan, Petro, Sunoco and IHOP just to name a few. If your oil tech comes to your house there is a very good chance that they are going to recommend that you have your chimney inspected by A-1 Affordable. Who will then more than likely suggest you need a chimney liner. I have seen it where they recommended a new stainless steel liner in a chimney that already has a liner, with no issues. Now that's incredible!!!
So yes be careful, and if you are dumb enough to fall for their scare tactics so be it you were warned. But don't take it from me look at the 77 other one star reviews. I tried to be nice.

A-1 Affordable Construction Inc. was recommended for chimney cleaning by the company I have my heater maintenance with. Two gentlemen came and did a very thorough job. As a result of their work, I learned I needed a chimney liner. The process for the installation of the liner was thoroughly explained to me. The work was done efficiently and effectively the same day. I would highly recommend this company. Their technicians are top notch.

Water was dripping into my pipes going into my furnace & hot water heater. Devine Energy, who converted my system to gas, recommended A-1 Affordable. They came out the same day to inspect the problem and came out the next day to fix the leak. It turned into quite a job. The entire piping system for the furnace and fireplace needed to be replaced due to age. The workers were very nice and respectful. Explained in detail what needed to be done. Pictures were sent to me showing completed work also. Their office was easy to contact with questions and response was quick. I would highly recommend A-1.

I wish I had known about A-1 Affordable Construction before I let that other vendor touch my chimney. Thankfully, A-1 came by, diagnosed the problems I had inherited and they had everything fixed and working the following day. These folks know their stuff and they deliver like true professionals.

The A1 team was great for several reasons, and the A1 service in general was excellent, in terms of cost and their willingness to help me the home owner. My particular situation involved replacing a hot water heater and the need to upgrade the exhaust vent before I could get a new hot water tank installed. A1 showed up the same day they were called, and very the next day finished the job, completing a number of related improvements along the way, while addressing the new vent installation. When the plumbers showed up the next day to replace the hot water tank, they were able to simply connect the new tank's 4" exhaust to the new 4" chimney vent no issues. The plumbers said this per-work and coordination made their job much easier. The team of 3 technicians were on time, pleasant, and importantly respectful of my home. I would not hesitate to call on A1 again in the future for other services.

Workmen called prior to arriving and promptly got started. Miquel explained the work he and his co-worker would do. They were professional, friendly and efficient. Miquel reviewed the finished job with me to ensure my satisfaction, took photos for their records, and left my home looking just as good as when they had arrived. We found ourselves without heat on a chilly weekend when our oil burner stopped working. After a quick inspection, we discovered that the chimney was a major issue and needed to be replaced. A-1 was great! I needed a new chimney liner and the technicians were friendly and professional. They came on time, cleaned up perfectly, and explained what they were doing. I highly recommend them.

Seems the 1 star ratings are par for the course with this type of work and dealing with all types of customers.

But my experience was excellent! They were subcontracted through the plumber to support a new boiler install. I won't go into all the details, but they ran into issues installing the new liner. A second crew was brought in to help, it was freezing cold, and late and dark. There was one guy in the basement jack hammering for hours on my stone foundation, another guy up on the roof and it's a three story house, and another crew having to break through the outside of the chimney. They came back promptly to repair the outside; everything cleaned up very well. And the crew all seemed very friendly, even under these conditions. I would highly recommend them.

I got a referral from other family members about A-1 Affordable, Inc. I needed immediate work done to upgrade the house roof and chimney. I contacted A-1 Affordable and got an appointment set up right away. The costs for the jobs was very reasonable. The work staff came out, were all friendly and did the job completely. We had a horrible experience with this company. This will be a little long, but we want to be sure we provide details if we're going to leave a negative review. We were referred by another company to use their services. An A1 service rep tried to exclude items from the quote for services, but I had taken a picture from the service member who came out, so that was resolved. The service team who came out to do the estimate was very nice. The service rep then said that they were unable to finish as discussed. They said it would be another $3000 to get the work done. Instead I called a local company who did the work for half that price. The work the local company did was excellent and has held up - so it wasnt poor quality for the lower price. When I asked the local company how much they would have charged for the intial part of the project, their quote was profoundly lower. We wasted a ton of money and were treated terribly. No doubt there are good people at the company, but our experience was awful. Reps saying they were new and misspoke and then spoke poorly about the company, supervisors who could care less. We would recommend you shop around and get additional quotes before you go with them. Get EVERYTHING in writing, down to the small things, and be sure its for the entire project! Good luck!

Had an issue with chimney and flue as heater was not venting properly. First time using A-1 Affordable Construction Inc., and happy to report that A-1 Affordable Construction did an excellent job. The speed of coming out and diagnosing the issue and service the next day was an added benefit. The professionalism of diagnostic team and crew doing the work speaks for it self. A1 chimney specialist we’re great. They arrived on time and worked continuously for 3 1/2 hours. I live in an older house so the whole chimneys had to be rebuilt. In a pinch i was referred to A1 ,after contacting many companies A1 was the only one that same day arrived, qouted me and scheduled the job the very next day. Large work crew arrived, within 4 hours fireplace chimney was recleaned ,New flue extension installed,3 rows of chimney bricks repaired,new concrete cap installed as well as new metal weather cover and thermo Crete coated entire existing flue.workers were polite, clean and worked as best they could not stop. Cleaned up everything single bit of trash that was created and washed down my parking lot where they worked. Now my family has owned and ran our own small business since 1937 and I'm 3rd generation and very very picky about workmanship, so when I say this company is A NUMBER 1, THEN THEY ARE. Called these people at 2:00pm on 10/16/24 and they were at my house by 6:00pm and within a couple of hours they diagnosed, advised, installed a new liner, fixed the cement around the vent holes, cleaned out all of the debris and cleaned up their mess as if they werren't ever there. Respectful servicemen and I would recommend this company to anyone that needs their services !

We had our chimney liner replaced. From the estimate to the finished job, the entire project was seamless! The team who did the work, led by Manuel, was courteous, respectful of our property, and worked hard the entire time they were here. We recently had our roof replaced, gutters updated and our two chimneys stuccoed. The workers let us know when they were coming. They put tarps around to protect the plants in the front of our home. They were careful when they were pulling off the old roof and putting the debris in the container that they dropped off in the front of our home. They called us to make sure we were satisfied with the work and gave us a written warranty for the work performed. I have and will continue to recommend A-1 to my friends and clients. They treat their customers the way that I like to treat my clients in my financial practice.

We were very skeptical at first as this company is on the other side of NJ, but they arrived when anticipated ready to begin the project. We are very happy with the work performed. Had our chimney cleaned last year by A1 and they put this sloppy coat of sealant on our wood stove. Tbh it resembles something my 3 year old would do in one of her "art projects" in our living room. This does not look like taking pride in your work!

was directed to this company by our furnace company. They recommend chimney cleaning annually. During the course of the inspection it was discovered that the liner (which had been installed 19 years ago) needed replacement. Also damaged stucco on fireplace chimney was an invitation for water issues and eventually structural issues. The inspection team took pictures of all existing structures and showed where damage was occurring. An estimate was given for all work. They actually had crews available and the work was completed within two days! In all there were three different crews-inspection, liners, and masonry and stucco work. They were all, without exception, friendly, professional and super hard working. All work was completed as stated including cleanup.It's not particularly exciting to have this kind of work done, but totally necessary. And, the workmanship on the stucco is beautiful. Highly recommend.

Work was performed as agreed, everyone who came to the house was professional and clean. Any problems that arose were handled. Can't say enough good things about my experience, highly recommended. I will be using them again.

I was referred to A-1 by my plumber after needing flue work done on my hot water heater. Despite nobody wanting to need chimney work done, I am glad that these are the people who did it. The entire organization has been polite, professional, efficient and conscientious.

The original chimney and flue work in my utility room was done rather slap dash by the builders and these guys came in and gave me an estimate on the spot. Once I gave the okay, it seemed like an entire organization went to work, ordering and delivering parts, doing the install, calling to let me know when people would be coming, etc.

The long and the short of it is that people came when they said they would, did what they said they would for the price that they said they would, and they even called after it was all done to make sure I was satisfied with everything.

Now, I'm no chimney expert, but what I will say is that they re-routed the entire system of piping so that there are fewer turns, everything is pitched properly and because there is just less piping, even the utility room looks nicer and cleaner because the light is better (not that I'm going to be spending a lot of time in there).

I appreciate a job well done and they did it. I'll definitely have them on speed-dial for the next time I need work done.

This company is unprofessional. I was told they would be at the home I’m buying for an inspection from 9am-1pm. I confirmed this with them the day before. I was then called at 7:30am by a representative to be told they were 30 minutes away. I live an hour away from the home I am buying and was not planning to be there till 9am, the time they told me to be there. I called them again at 9am when I reached the house and was told I was put in the 1-5 timeframe even though I explicitly asked and previously confirmed 9am-1pm. This behavior is very unprofessional, you should stick to the timeframes you set with your customers and if you are going to be somewhere earlier you should tell them the day before so they can plan accordingly. Furthermore, when I called the office about this situation they did not seem sorry for having inconvenienced me, my agent, and the homeowner. If you mess up you should at least say sorry, have some manners. Would not recommend using them in the future.

A-1 Affordable installed a chimney liner in my chimney about a month ago. I thought they did a good job and was happy with their service. Unfortunately, I just received a bill for $124.00 for the permit. It's ridiculous that this amount was not included in the origional bill, and crazy that a company would send me a second bill a month after the work is done and paid for. The money doesn't bother me, the business practice does. Our transaction is essentially complete and they decided to send me a second bill. I called the company and told them I wasn't paying this bill. To be fair I was less than polite, but I was told the company would put a lean on my house. If A1 responds to this message I'm sure they will say that the permit fee was outlined in my contract but I'm saying that all fees should be included in the bill for service and that it's deceptive to tell someone a service costs x amount, and send them a second bill a month later.

I'm writing this review as a warning to anyone, don't do business with this company.

Excellent company! I have used them before for new chimney liners, and cleaning. Also had bricks replaced on chimney and a new cap. I needed a certification for my chimney before house sale. They were quick to schedule and Phil explained all points that needed to be checked. Kudos to Izabella for promptly following up next day to supply additional paperwork I needed. Would definitely recommend.

A-1 Affordable tech and team did a fantastic job with correcting the chimney issue by properly installing the lining and caps as well as new exhaust system. Very respectful and extremely professional and clean up was spotless, great job!

A-1 Affordable came to our home to do a chimney inspection and yesterday installed a chimney liner and heater connection in our basement, as Leffler is installing a new boiler next week. A-1 crew came and relined my chimney with a new stainless steel double wall liner, put a new cap on the top and connected all to the heater. They cemented everything and sealed it all. They were efficient, cleaned up everything after. They even provided pictures of the new work. I am happy with them and would recommend them to others.

UPDATE!
The crew came over and cleaned my heater and my pellet stove chimneys. They were through, professional and clean in their work. I will be using them again.
