I contacted them through their website to inquire about building a home in the next 6-12 months. I was impressed at first that they replied to my inquiry right away by asking me where I wanted to build. However, my delight ended there. Haven’t heard from them since. Although I’ve now reached out to them twice, I’ve been completely ghosted and left wondering why. They might be amazing builders but I’ll never know because I certainly wouldn’t trust them to build my home if they can’t even continue a short discussion by email. Super frustrating and unprofessional.
I recently came into a good sized inheritance and was going to pay cash for the entire project but I guess my money isn’t needed so I’ll take it elsewhere.

My vision for a garage needed some guidance and Brian walked me through to the final results. We love the results!!. Even in the times of Covid pricing, Brian and team were able to exceed our expectations. Valley builders took my vision and made it happen. Brian was responsive to all questions or any concerns. His team was courteous and efficient. We highly recommend Valley Builders and are confident there is no way we would have gotten this quality of building from any other team.

Brian at Valley Builders was always our first and only choice. He’s a very talented and well respected custom home builder in the Shenandoah Valley. He listened to our wants and needs and made our dream home come true in 7 months (during a pandemic to say the least). We broke ground on January 23rd and occupancy was approved on July 15th. Now that is service at its best. We would recommend him for many different reasons. He stayed on budget and was proactive in planning what the next steps were for his crew and subcontractors. Brian always kept us informed and aware of the what was expected during the next phase. He always called to ask us our preference after offering his expert opinions. We love our new home and very happy with our decision to use Valley Builders.

Valley Builders did an excellent job building our home. Brian, his crew and subs do excellent work, very professional, on time, with high quality and attention to detail. Brian is very responsive, we easily had several hundred texts between us. Brian also provided the best value out of the several bids we received. Once ground was broken, I don't believe there were more than a few days that work was not completed. I think he has an amazing relationship with all his subs to get them scheduled in the right time frame. We hope to never have to build another home but if we do, we would not hesitate in hiring Valley Builders again. Building a house is one of the biggest financial risks you can take and I don't think you could find a more trustworthy, reliable, and reasonable company to do it. Listen, if your looking to hire a builder, look no further and don't waste anymore time researching, hire Valley Builders! Thank you Brian and crew for making our dream come true.

We moved into our home in September and have loved it ever since! It’s beautiful and well built. All that we were warned about in construction never happened while working with Valley Builders. Everyone said, “Set aside extra money for when the contractor overshoot the bid, make sure you plan for lots of extra months for when they take way longer than expected, make sure you watch the money because they’re going to rob you and not pay the subs...” I’ve seen it happen to my friends before and obviously it happened to all these folks who said it to me when we were preparing to build. Most folk think building is crazy because “contractors are such crooks!”
I’m sure you’re hearing the exact same things if you’re searching around.

Not with Valley Builders
We paid the amount on the bid
We moved in on time it early - I can’t remember but I KNOW it wasn’t late
We have no mechanics lines against the property
For me that’s awesome! We are so grateful not to be robbed and to end on time - the house is great too but the building process was a breeze and we’re really grateful. Honestly, so grateful ...

My wife and I chose Brian Fitchett and Valley Builders LLC to construct our home in 2018. Brian was immediately responsive to our request for information and a meeting was set up to discuss plans. Needless to say, we were pretty clueless on the whole process, but Brian was able to answer any questions we had. We had a general idea of type of house but we had not selected a plan. Brian was able to provide us with plans of a house he had built previously and then walked us through the process of making modifications (adding a bedroom) to the plan to suit our needs.

After construction began, Brian remained attentive and answered all questions as we had them. Brian provided us with rates for any upgrades as we requested them such that there were no surprises. He worked well with our lender with draws on the construction loan as well. We also requested several changes to the house as the process continued and Brian and his team made those changes happen without hesitation.

All told, everything was done to our liking and all was made easy to understand throughout the process. We are happy with our home and would recommend Valley Builders to anyone looking to build!

Valley Builders built my custom house in 2017. I was very pleased with the work Brian and his crew did. The lines of communication with Brian were always open and I really appreciated his quick attention to my questions as the process evolved. He also did a great job keeping me aware of my budget, which I really appreciated! I highly recommend Valley Builders to anyone building a new house. They're great!

Looks like this builder has declined since the last review a year ago. We couldn't get a decent contract out of him - one that conforms to DPOR Building codes - and he seemed to take it as a personal affront that we insisted. He took a lot of communication personally (vs professionally), and it's ended up chasing us off what could have been a lucrative contract.

There were a lot of red flags: the contract, prices were incomplete and didn't add up to the total; I had to forward him a copy of what a complete contract *really* looks like. With 12+ years' experience advertised, Mr. Fitchett should know this by now and shouldn't have to be told.

It is NOT acceptable to tell a customer " it's more relaxed down here" and use that as an excuse for unprofessional behavior.; and it's a little rude, too. It also gives Shenandoah county builders a bad name, though I'm sure he doesn't speak for everyone. Overall, i don't know what this guy's problem is (though I can guess), but luckily it's not mine to solve; and we're moving on.

If you are looking for a top notch builder at a more than reasonable value, you have found him! Brian at Valley Builders hit it out of the park with my 30x50 (2) story garage build.

Everyone wants to hear the bad, so lets get that out of the way first. Valley Builders bad? Simple, I nearly didn't find him and almost passed him up. I had numerous quotes that ranged from outrageous, to not even close to what I spec'd, and then I somehow found this website and messaged Brian, and before I knew it, we had a contract drawn up and things were underway! As soon as I spoke to him, I knew I found my builder. No BS, no nonsense, just the facts and a good guy!

Brain went out of his way to ensure everything was how I wanted it, his workers were super nice and competent, and his subs, well... you will not find these guys in the yellow pages since they don't advertise... were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Ever see 2 guys hang 12' 5/8 drywall 12' up on a single set of scaffolds? Nailed glued and screwed, a whole garage in under 2 days. UNREAL!

Towards the end of a build , I watched his head foreman nearly complete a staircase, only to tear it back out because he didn't like it! I thought it was OK, but he said he was not happy with it, and started over. All I know is a you could run a tank up these stairs, as they are build as hefty as I have ever seen!

I could go on and on, and my only regret is not finding him sooner, because had I, I would have had him build my house too. If you are reading this, look no further, you lucked out and found a top notch builder. If you are a serious client, I am happy to show you my end result which I am sure will impress!

Thanks again Brian @ Valley Builders, you made my dream garage come true! (Brain always said that BTW, we can build whatever YOUR DREAM, thats our job!)

Once I figure out how to post pics, I get some put up here. Check back soon! Congrats on finding this builder, you are about to be way pleased just like me!

We chose Valley Builders to construct our retirement home in Fort Valley. We worked closely with Brian all the way through the process, and found him to be very accommodating of our needs. We had some things we wanted to do that were different - such as using geothermal heating, adjusting some features to accommodate what we anticipate may be needed as we age, and the like. We found Valley Builders to be a very high quality builder. I was also very pleased with how easily Brian accommodated changes - in some cases, we arranged the changes separately from our contract, in other cases, they were incorporated into the contract. We made some changes in suppliers that went smoothly as well. We're delighted with how our home has turned out.

It was wonderful working with Brian. Not mater the craziness of the situation, he was extraordinarily professional, efficient, helpful and kind. I can not recommend him more highly

Valley Builders were great to work with and I'd highly recommend them. Brian and his team worked diligently, professionally, and consistently during the building of a house for us from August 2014 until spring of 2015. They tackled a very tough roof and made changes to the plans as we requested. His team did a lot of work and the subcontractors were all dependable. Brian quickly responded to a few items that needed fixing after we moved in. I believe he is someone you can trust to handle such a big job.

Service questions

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
