Reached out to SS&S about an estimate on an attic renovation. After sending pictures and talking on the phone a few times, I set up an appointment. A couple days before the appointment, the project manager told me it would cost $200, just for the estimate. I canceled the appointment. If I'm going to pay money to receive an estimate, this should be clearly stated upfront, not divulged a day before the appointment.
When we first spoke with SS&S to get a bid on our project, I was sure this would be a 5 star review. Unfortunately, as soon as we signed the contract, we became cash in their pockets and deprioritized. The “project manager” completely failed to communicate with us during the project - we had to ask to set up weekly meetings to stay informed with progress or lack there of. The best example of this failure to manage the project was being told we needed a different microwave (one that could recirculate air rather than require ventilation) the day it was being installed - over a month after it was delivered, and three months after he himself had approved the appliance purchase. This was just one example of the lack of care/responsibility SSS showed during the renovation. Not to mention the times the crew left doors unlocked and lights on in our house. Due to the oversight and management required in our end, this renovation became a second job for me and my husband. Such a shame that they didn’t live up to the values and standards they set in our intro calls.
I have been dealing with this company since October to have a dishwasher installed, it is now January 14th. Their managers who they send to do an estimate do NOT know what they are talking about. According to the work crew my project was improperly bid twice because the manager cannot communicate properly. Clearly they need to be sending out the guys who are actually assigned to do the project to price it because management does not know what they are doing.
It has been over a week and I have not heard from anyone on when or how they will be refunding the $500 deposit I paid them. Look elsewhere if you need work done!
2/12/25 Update: I did get my refund after having to contact them again but I stand by everything else in this review.
