I contacted Roto Rooter for an emergency. They were my last hope. Service arrived promptly providing a thorough professional job. To my great relief I was spared the misery of a Flooded Basement. I would absolutely recommend

We had a septic problem on a Sunday. We called about 5 places and Roto rooter was the only company that called us back on Sunday. They had good communication and sent someone out first thing Monday morning. The technicians had to dig in our yard to find the problem. I can’t even tell where they dug. They put everything back how they found it. It was reasonably priced and The guys that came out were professional and friendly. I am so thankful. Thank you. This is a great business. After promising an afternoon service call today, the company did not come out nor did they call to notify me that they would not be coming. After calling to find out the status, I was told "sometimes that's just how things go." Seems like a company this widely-known could do better.

Roto-Rooter removed and replaced a utility sink which we provided. They did a very good job, took the old sink away and left the area clean. The estimate that I was given was that the job should take an hour to complete, and the sink and drain line were completed within that time. Unfortunately, the plumber had to leave to get the supply lines, which added an extra hour to the final charge. This added $160 to the final costs to get parts that probably cost no more than $20. It would seem that common supplies such as this should be on each truck, allowing jobs to be completed without the customer being charged for a lot of dead time.

Quickly found the issue and set to to resolve it. It didn’t take too long before the water was running down the drain again. Good jo, well done! I’m very happy and will use them again..

The service part is fine. We really liked Dean every time he’s come out. But two times in a row, they’ve either written my card number down wrong or enter it wrong in their system. I tried calling to pay and no one ever answers. Someone just called me on a Sunday, months (like almost a year) later to receive my payment.

Too much a headache to continue with them as our go-to plumbers.

The Fairwinds Homeowners Association (FHA) was verbally quoted a price of $375 a tank for each of the six septic tanks that needed servicing. However, the FHA was billed $500 for each tank. A subsequent call to Roto-Rooter only resulted in being told that we had been quoted the wrong price by an employee on the phone.

The FHA was told that a crew would return after hours to level, seed, and place straw on the affected areas that were created in preparation for the pumping. The grass seed and straw were sparse at best and the final result was not what was expected from a nationally recognized company.

I first contacted this company to unplug the utility sink in the laundry room. Troy came out immediately and solved the problem. During a remodeling project, I contacted Troy again to run new water lines. Again, he and his team acted quickly and professionally. Thank you for your timeliness and good quality!!!

Their plumber was knowledgeable and honest. My problem was quite simple — an old water filter needing replacement. He explained how my system worked and patiently taught me how to change it. He did not charge me for any extra services, even though he could have very easily done so, considering how little I knew about well-water systems.

Dean came to my house at 8:52 am and left at 9:32am , all he did was put washers on the hot and cold in bathroom sink. This is outrageous. I see in their answers to others that have complained about pricing they state they are upfront with pricing. I received no pricing information upfront just when he was done. Again he was only here 40 minutes. Never again

During a remodel of an older home, we discovered a potential issue with the main sewer line. We used Roto-Rooter to use camera equipment to scope the line. Troy conducted the inspection and was super helpful and efficient and the price was fair considering the amount of work he had to complete. Great experience and highly recommended.

Installed an outdoor Hydrant, a waterline and a sink for an outdoor kitchen excellent work. They stuck with me when a part was missing and made it right.

Over a period of 20+ years, two of the drain pipes coming off my gutters were covered over by dirt/grass at the discharge ends. They were occluded and buried. During a heavy rain the water would back up and spray out of the flexible drain pipe at the connection to the gutter downspouts. I called a couple of businesses and explained the issue and both of them hemmed and hawed and eventually said they could not help.
Fortunately, I remembered Roto Router and gave them a call. A Roto Router van with two men arrived with some serious looking equipment and immediately went to work to remedy the situation. They set up their equipment at each of the two downspouts and explained the procedure. In less than an hour they had cleared the obstructions and exposed the ends of both drain pipes!
These guys were very knowledgeable, professional, efficient and friendly.
Do yourself a favor and call Roto Router first!!!

I have called Roto-Rooter twice recently. The first time was for my sump pump making unusual noises. I was sure it would have to be replaced but he was able to repair it easily.
The second time was within the last few days. I had a drip in the bathtub and a slow leak in one of the toilet tanks. Two repairmen came and replaced the necessary parts quickly and with minimal disruption. Both times they came the day I called.
I am very satisfied and will call them again if needed.

On Thursday, the day hurricane Helene was scheduled to come though, my sump pump malfunctioned. I called Roto-Rooter but was sure they would not be able to come for several days. However, someone came that morning, fixed the problem, then called me to tell me it was repaired and working properly. I will definitely call them again if needed.

Yikes- Roto-Rooter does good work, but the prices are absolutely insane. They charge $380 for the first hour of work and then it gets a bit more reasonable at $200/hr after that. For me that meant that the cost to fix a washing machine drain that wasn't draining property came out to around $800. That is a month's rent for this area of Virginia. I don't want to sound ungrateful for their service, but that is just not a reasonable charge. That is, to put it into context, five times as much as a MD earns an hour or about eight times what a teacher earns an hour. Yes, I think skilled labor should earn fair and good wages, but there is no way the math comes out on this one. Yes, they use machines that cost money - so do many professions. So no, I cannot recommend them because I just felt so very taken advantage of by their prices. They know you don't have other options in town and so charge people who are usually calling in duress more than they ethically should.

Troy was wonderful! On time, tackled the drain and gave great tips for keeping and maintaining a clear drain. He educated on how the installation was not performed at an optimal level.

I will call for any and every plumbing challenge I face in the future.

I had a clogged basement drain. They were there about 1.5 hours and ran a snake. They did not unclog the drain. They just told me I needed a pump because the drain could no longer be used. Charged me $400 for this. So I called another plumber and they came out and fixed my drain.

My basement drain was clogged on a Saturday, so I did not expect anyone to respond so quickly. Someone came within the hour and fixed the problem! I will definitely call them again and let my friends know of their great service.

Within 30 minutes of my call a crew was at the house, and not long after they had diagnosed the problem and told me what the work would entail. Because it was already late in the day they promised to return first thing the next morning to complete the work. They true to their word, finishing the work quickly and at a very reasonable price. I certainly don’t want a plumbing problem in the future, but just in case they will be on my speed dial!

City officials required my business to put in a commercial back-flow system. Troy did a great job. Plus he was able to find a way to install the system at a less expensive price and also helped with the city paperwork to show the required system had been installed. I am on the board of a townhome complex. There were 2 different situations that Roto Rooter handled. One was a broken sewer drain behind a townhouse, that they replaced . Good communication. Reasonable. A few months later, the sewer line behind 4 townhouses was blocked. The contact was very knowledgeable and worked us in because of the serious situation despite short staffing. Also I was informed about a problem with debris in a manhole and who could fix that for us. Any sewer problems, I will call Roto-Rooter.

I called on a Tuesday and they were extremely busy. The kind owner had his dad running the truck due to sick employees (Covid). However, he fit me in the schedule. Gentleman was polite and asked if he should take off boots. Problem fixed within 15 minutes. Couldn’t be happier with them! Highly recommend.

After dealing with a clogged main sewer drain for a week and a half with another Lynchburg Plumbing company I called Roto Rooter last night. They said they would have someone call me first thing in the morning. By 8:20 I had a call and was told a truck would be here by 9 am. By 10am that had corrected the issue the other company had not removed. They pulled out a massive ball of roots.

Not only were they responsive but they were about 30% cheaper. I am very thankful they had very professional and honest. They actually ran their machine twice to make sure the blockage was definitely taken care of.

Roto-Rooter is an awesome company! They can handle all your plumbing needs. They always come immediately and are prompt in repairing the issue. In the past we have used them for clogged sinks but recently had a problem with the pressure on our hot water tank. Troy came right out, diagnosed the problem and we had hot water again in no time! We would recommend them over anyone else!

Edit (5 years later): Roto-Rooter remains the best plumbing and drain cleaning company in the area! I used their services last month on a backed up hardscape drainage system and again today on a complicated pump issue. Troy spent hours diagnosing the issue and thankfully got my pump working again! Don't hesitate to call Roto-Rooter! Troy and his guys are the best!
