We chose Roose Paint & Restoration LLC after gathering three bids because of the way Jamis conducted his initial consultation. He was not only both warm and professional, but actually educated me a bit about paint and my own project. He was an excellent advisor as I made decisions about the job, and he and his crew completed our interior paint job in budget and on time. It's just beautiful! We could not be happier! Throughout the process, Jamis was easy to communicate with. We had a small glitch at one time, and he was quick to resolve it. We would hire Jamis again and will recommend RP&R without hesiation.

We are thrilled to have found Jamis Roose! We have used him twice now for painting the interior of our home and we are so pleased. Excellent workmanship, and transparent and reliable communication concerning schedule and pricing. We are so pleased that we have asked he add us to his annual service to help keep up with projects, like gutters, around the house. It is hard to find reliable, fairly priced services in Ocean Shores, and we are pleased to highly recommend Roose Painting.

I can't recommend Roose Painting highly enough.
Jamis responded to every call or email quickly and worked with us every step throughout the painting process. He and his crew worked diligently every day (when it wasn't raining) until the job was completed.
They worked very hard to produce a perfect painting of our house and reconditioning of our deck. The prep work was thorough and extensive, followed by an exacting paint job.
Jamis worked with us to help us achieve the the result we wanted.
Roose Painting will always be the company we call when we need house painting or deck maintenance.

We entrusted Roose with the painting project for our house after considering multiple bids, and unfortunately, our experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Despite his purported 20 years of experience and a recommendation from Sherwin Williams, Roose's performance has fallen egregiously
short of expectations.

Initially quoted at three weeks, the project dragged on for an excruciating eight weeks before Roose abruptly vanished. Then he texted demanding full payment. When we said no, he called screaming explicative language at us. The result of his work is an eyesore, with primer peeking through in every room and trim riddled with visible nail holes. Instead of employing proper techniques, Roose opted for a makeshift approach, using colored string chalk and drywall compound, leaving behind unsightly blue patches and uneven surfaces.

His lack of attention to detail and disregard for proper procedures have left us facing exorbitant costs to rectify his shoddy workmanship. There was a distinct absence of organization and supervision on his part. The current bids to remedy the situation exceed or match his original quote. Furthermore, Roose's association with other contractors in the area, who similarly engage in underbidding and substandard
work, raises serious concerns about the integrity of the local contracting community. His candid admission of their disparaging attitudes towards customers serves as a cautionary tale for anyone considering their services.

The pictures are just a few examples of their workmanship. Every room in the house needs to be fixed. If it were just touchups as Roose claimed, it would be a different story altogether. According to the assessments, all walls and ceilings need at least 1 more coat of paint. As for the trim, that is not “touchup-
able”. In order to take care of all the nail holes and unsanded spackle, the trim needs to be sanded down, filled in, sanded flush and then repainted and cut in again. This is where all the time and money will go. Every room will need to be masked and sheeted off. Then the house needs to be cleaned again.

We asked Jamis to come back for what he claimed to be the touch up phase and he originally agreed. Then he called in sick and he went dark. During this time, we asked other painters to come and assess what would be needed to ‘fix’ the mess Roose left. In our opinion, it was not just touch ups and we needed other opinions. All the companies (5 so far) agreed that the work was unacceptable. Even though we refused to say who painted our home, small town with people talking caused the word to get out. When Jamis heard that we had others come out and look, he chose to claim that we hired somebody else and never returned. We let him know repeatedly that we had not hired anyone else. We still have not hired another painter.

We took him to small claims court and again wrote a letter offering for him to come out and look at the job he left prior to trial. He did not respond. We have tried multiple times using phone, text, email, and mail to engage in constructive dialogue with Roose. He is not receptive whatsoever. We NEVER prevented him from finishing. We just want the house finished. The path of least resistance is always preferable to court and waiting OVER A YEAR and counting to get our interior paint completed. The judge in district court advised us to sue Roose and his bond in superior court, informing us that this is the best way to be reimbursed for damages. Roose’ case requesting the remainder of the bid that he was not paid was denied. Roose’ witness admitted on the stand that there are thousands of dollars in damages.

We can’t comprehend why Roose believes he can take on a project, take a customer’s money, leave because he can’t handle it, and expect the homeowner to stay silent. His delay alone cost us time and frustrated other subs. Perhaps there was a time when Roose took his job seriously, understood his contractual obligations and treated people well.

I was referred to Roose Paint by a well-known contractor I know. The bid was very competitive, and the work was very well done. Every question I had was answered and explained. I would not hesitate to use them again or to refer someone to them.

Once again...exceptional results!

Mr Roose and his team of skilled, hard-working painters did our job efficiently and with great quality. The job site was about 50miles away from their offices but that didn’t seem to effect timing or quality in the least. They did the trim work on our 3-story home in about 4 working days, and we’ll have them vack to stain the siding next season. Mr Roose communicated often and responded to questions and concerns with kindness, professionalism, and great speed. I STRONGLY recommend them!

Roose Paint is an excellent painting company. We had a smaller interior job. We struggled for months to find a licensed, bonded, and insured painting company to do the job. Many we called never returned calls or never showed up. Roose paint returned my call, showed up when he said he would and got the estimate to me very quickly. The estimate was very reasonable. They were very professional and knowledgeable. We are extremely pleased with their work and would highly recommend Roose Paint.

I would highly recommend Roose painting company. We were so glad we choose him to paint our house. His crew are professional and pleasant as well. We had a delay in the scheduled time due to the coastal weather, but the wait was worth it. Our house is beautiful again.

Service questions

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
