I procured the stairs myself and allowed them to oversee the fitting. They removed the old stairs and disposed of them (they were too short, didn't touch the ground), put in the new ones and repaired a 3x3 segment of drywall. They used mud and tape on the joint and then reapplied the texture (mop?) to the roof. The new stairs are absolutely sturdy and it's not apparent there was a gap in my roof. jermaine and lucas did a good job.
