Mike was great to work with for the complete redo of our back deck. He was a great thought partner on types of decking, the railing, and how to trim. We highly recommend and would absolutely use him again.

Mike has done several jobs for us over the past 8 years. They include building a huge fence around our chicken coop, garden, and apple trees, extending and renewing our second-story deck, and lots of smaller jobs inside and outside our house. Mike has a wealth of knowledge and understanding of all the little (and big) details that make up a very professional job. You can always count on Mike to be straight with you when he tells you what needs to be done and why. I trust his judgement implicitly. He is also very personable and fun to have around. We are not interested in having anyone else work on our house.

Mike Winter has done work at my parents’ place for years and just put in a beautiful composite deck + covered area at my house. I have a 1940s craftsman home, and it has a lot of 'quirks' that can't be addressed with a 'cookie-cutter' approach. His workmanship is beautiful, and he has the eye to see and the experience to implement the small touches and tweaks that bring quality and longevity beyond his competitors.

He has also done some smaller projects around my place; installed an office door & closet doors, replaced siding, adjusted the downspout to divert water away from the foundation (which he noticed was issue while working on the deck). All were fantastic upgrades that he matched with the style of the house. I can’t recommend him highly enough. He is great to work with; listens and is a clear communicator. His work will add comfort and value to your home.

When dealing with water intrusion issues about 12 years ago, another contractor recommended Mike Winter to us to help with our heat welded membrane roof. Mike was able to fit us into his schedule, repaired the damaged portion of the roof and corrected our roof ventilation issue once and for all.

Last year, Mike replaced our 20 year old heat welded membrane roof, and most recently, he built a garage/shop for us. Mike is very skilled, knowledgeable and detail oriented. He can provide solid solutions to problems as they come up, and they do come up in construction. He completes the work within the time frame specified. He keeps your site neat and clean and takes great care not to disturb the area immediately surrounding the site. He is a great communicator and a person of integrity whom I trust completely and who will provide you with a product you will love and be happy with.

Mike Winter repaired and waterproofed my large, 2nd story deck on my house and did a fantastic job. He was easy to work with and his crew was talented, hard working and kept the site clean. He did what I requested, and more, and stayed on schedule, which I find to be very rare these days. I have asked him to work a new project for me and I am confident of more great results.

I definitely would recommend Mike Winter.

We needed to replace our ‘recalled‘ Trex deck, so I started asking around.

A trusted friend who worked in the building industry said, ‘Get Mike Winter … if he’s available’. We called Mike and he provided a fair middle-of-the-road quote and appeared to have great knowledge & experience of the product he preferred. We set up a start-date time schedule that worked for both of us.

When he arrived at our job site, he always presented himself organized & professional. We could see Mike prides himself in attention to detail. He also appeared to treat his worker(s) with respect & patience.

He always called us when he was going to be unavoidably late for whatever reason.

Mike included both myself and my wife in the design lay-out process at key points in the project.

We ended up with a beautiful deck w/ two sets of steps we are proud to show to our neighbors, family & friends.

Yes … this is an easy one … we would recommend Mike Winter.

Excellent craftsmanship, very detail oriented, excellent client and crew member communication, and worked around our availability timeline and the weather to site prep, pore concrete footings, build and finish large exterior deck. Extremely pleased with the results, and even asked for and received a bid for our front entry porch/deck replacement.

As part of preparation for selling my family home, I called Mike to consult about replacing the cedar deck with a Trex type deck. He was knowledgeable about all aspects of the job and the final result contributed to a bidding war and top dollar sale of my home. He also has done repairs on my new home. Mike is professional, trustworthy, organized and very dependable. If you want a contractor with integrity, call Mike Winter.

Initially he was responsive and called to ask what our job was, came to take a look, then dropped off a brochure of the product he used. He said we would have an estimate over a week ago. I’ve called, texted, used his website for a contact and nothing. He doesn’t have time to say, “sorry, I can’t do your job”? We’re upset and disappointed that we wasted weeks waiting for him because he was referred to us, when we could have been moving ahead with another contractor

I have used Mike and his crew on a number of occasions. They repaired and updated my deck (with waterproof covering and glass safety railing), added a bathroom (you should see the great tile work), replaced floors (tile and laminate), installed a Murphy bed, built an RV cover and a storage shed. They have also done painting for me. He also can repair and/or replace roofing.

There is no job too big or too small for Mike. If you need anything done around your house do not hesitate to contact Mike for an excellent job at a very fair price.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
