My mother's HOA on Hillside Ct in Sturgis hired Midwest Home Improvement in August of 2020 for hail damage to the roofs, gutters / down spouts, decks and exterior paint to 5 duplex buildings. It was a $164,757 project.

As of last fall... two years later. Most of the work had been completed with the exception of refinishing the decks and properly painting the exteriors. They said they didn't get enough money from the insurance company so they were not going to do the decks. They didnt want to replace the gutters /down spouts or the trim around the garage doors in accordance with the insurance adjustment but did under threat of a lawsuit. The exterior paint was terrible and in some place only received 1 of the 3 coats that the insurance had paid for. I gave up on this company last fall after they would not reply to my email or phone calls regarding the completion of the work.

In addition they lied to the insurance adjuster telling her that all the work had been completed so that she would release final payment. Fortunatly the HOA didn't pay them in full and have a little money left to try to complete the work.

I didn't leave a review earlier as I thought of taking legal action but I believe this company is broke and winning a legal case is of no benefit.

I ended up dealing with this mess as the HOA is made up of elderly people on fixed incomes that were far to trusting of this company.

We signed a contract for some exterior work (siding, paint, trim and some work on storm windows) last year. The communication was awful. Phone calls went unanswered, and the voicemail was always full. The staff was unprofessional and the quality of work was poor.

We had such a hard time getting ahold of Dallas, that we would call the sales guy, Roger, and the guys doing the labor. They are pointed fingers at each other and made it seem like we were not the only ones having issues with this company.

Roger promised numerous things and tired to upsell us things we didn't need. He told us paint would be more expensive because we would need multiple coats. They did one coat of paint and said they were done. We had to have them come back numerous time to correct our concerns. They ignored most of our concerns or claimed we didn't express them soon enough (believe me, we tried, but nobody answers the phone!)

We have had to make numerous corrections ourselves to the work they provided. If I could give zero stars I would. I am very disappointed with the work, and we contemplated making them fix it again but we were so sick of dealing with them that we decided to fix it ourselves. We wasted so much time and money on this company.

BEWARE!! Jan 25, 2022 Roger Weinhaus in sales and myself entered into a contract for windows sliding doors back deck and balcony had to pay $17000.00 down immediately for work to be done in April 2022. March 17 entered into another contact for front porch costs nearly $8000. April came went -0- work performed. Repeated calls Dallas Nix advised me big projects busy everything delayed for windows and doors then said would do at time of porch. Porch completed by a one man in June 2022. No license in Pennington County was found after the fact just in city. Dallas Nix only has roofing license in city as per planning commission. After completing porch concerned of the quality- calls to Dallas Nix cell got one response everything would be completed in October 2022. NO it wasn’t!! Repeated calls to business phone, cell phone and certified letter as well as email I have received no response. Dallas Nix and Roger Weinhaus are oblivious in the trade of not home Improvement as stated but masters in shady business practices. I have filed a complaint with AG. Complaint to FTC. Community together has to stop Dallas Nix and Roger Weinhaus rein of horror.

Stear clear. Took them over a year to do a 1/2 day job. Would not answer the phone or return calls after being paid a 50% deposit. Had to put them on notice and threaten legal action for them to schedule an install, and then they still had to reschedule 2 more times before finally getting it done. I would not recommend this outfit.

First of all their work is so beautiful and amazing!! Second the siding was sealed up tight - in fact with the cost of gas going up, my heating and electric bills actually went down, significantly. Third - just received assessment from Pennington County Treasurer and the value of my property went up 79%. Midwest Home Improvement did the siding and trim, new roof, new sky light, back deck, and steps on front deck. Can't wait for Spring to do the windows.

I hired Midwest Home Improvement in 2020 after I received damage to my home from hail.
The work wasn’t started until 2021.
I loved the siding but the people Midwest sent to install it did a terrible job.
When Midwest finally put the roof on , they did not put on the one I ordered. They did a terrible job when they roofed my Shed.
I cannot see on top of my roof so I don’t know if they did a good job.
I waited for a roof Vent top for My furnace to be installed . Finally they came out and put one on and The next day my furnace quit working.
We went 5 days without heat because The owner of Midwest Home Improvement did not care if they put on the right vent cap.
Finally we got the right one installed and our furnace started working.
Right after that Midwest sent me a bill with late charges added. I could not believe that they just finished and caused us to be without heat and had the nerve to charge late fees.
I would not recommend them at all. They are a Terrible Company.

We used Midwest home improvement on our single wide trailer house this year. They were absolutely horrible. This is my first project that I've ever paid a "Professional" to come do and to say the least, I will do my research on the next contractor. It took them all year to reside, re tin, put a new door in, and a couple windows. The caulk job is all cracked out in a matter of a week. Words do not do justice on how horrible of work they did. They subcontracted it out to some clowns who didn't even know how to read a tape measure. They showed up in sandals. Left trash and nails everywhere. Had to pay 4500 extra dollars to the subs, and once I paid them, they took off and didn't answer calls and never showed back up, so midwest had to finish it, if thats what you want to call it....joke of a company. Hope no one else uses them.

Kind, courteous, honest, helpfull, knowledgable, folks that really have their customer's best intrests in mind as far as the quality of material they use, the fine quality workmanship they provide, the lowest cost possible for what is costumer is requesting to have installed. The sales associates are knowledgable in the products they provide. I would recommend them to any one looking to upgrade their home or make it more moderen and appealing to them, or prehaps a potential buyer..

No stars here...We have had nothing but problems with this company. The work was very poor, the workers were unsupervised and the warranties were all voided on the steel roof and our siding. Our phone calls were never answered. One of the workers would show up from time to time with bills for work that was not completed correctly. All of this was followed with the owner filing a small claim against us in the amount of $12,000.00. He failed to show for the court case and the claim against us was thrown out. We counter-sued and a judgment was placed against Midwest Home Improvement and we are still waiting to be compensated for their poor workmanship. We would really appreciate our money back so we can hire a contractor that can redo the whole house, garage & shed as it was left looking like a disaster. Also had a flooded basement because gutters were not installed at all & after they were installed, they were the wrong size. A company we will never do business with again and would not recommend to anyone looking for a contractor!!!

I had Midwest Home Improvement do a retrofit to our beau window in our dining room with new double pane glass. The product they recommended was right on and the installation quality was excellent.

From the beginning to the completion of the project, I was very satisfied with the crew and customer service was awesome. I was kept informed and the crew kept the house clean and I'm very happy with my windows. Highly recommend business.

Everyone, that I have dealt with at this company-from office staff, to the owner are the best! They deserve a 5 star rating because they strive to get it right the first time-and if there is an issue-they make it right!!!

The staff at MHI are easy to work with. They've worked with the insurance company to get it taken care of for me. While there's still work to do on our house to repair all the hail damage from last year's storms, we're waiting on mother nature to cooperate. They had our roof replaced from start to finish in less than two days. Great to work with Sandra, Dallas and Doug

We used Midwest Home Improvements last summer and had top notch customer service from the bid process to the job completion! We highly recommend this company!

We had a bit of a rough start because of an overbooking situation. Once that was resolved, they continuously checked in with us to make sure everything was to our specifications. They took our three season room and converted it to a four season room. We love our room and are very happy we can be in it when the sub-zero weather hits.

Amazing group of people at Midwest Home Improvement. Top of the line service. Their honesty and integrity make them head an shoulders above some of the others we tried to deal with. Back in 2017, the town of Kennebec was hit hard by a hail storm. It damaged many houses in town, including houses with Kennebec Housing. We needed new siding, gutters, and roofs on about 17 buildings. Midwest Home Improvement won the bid. They were very good to work with, on everything. Midwest Home Improvement has great people working for them, the job was completed in a timely fashion. Of course, there was weather to deal with, but they got the job done. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Midwest Home Improvement for getting the job completed.

Great contractor loved working with Dallas they done my roof great guys done a excellent job and cleaned up great.

Very long story short. I hired them June 16th 2019 to install a new roof, new gutters, new windows and doors on our sun room and new bow window in the front of our house. I cannot say enough about the roof and gutters. They subcontracted the roof to Freedom Roofing. They were awesome.

My wife and I had some special requests for color and function with the windows. It took some time for them to locate the product that would meet our needs with the quality that they wanted to deliver in their final product. We finely got that figured out and on their work schedule in November. The windows themselves look great and we are very happy with them. The sun room also looks great. I did need to do my own painting and I have a floor tile that got damaged that I need to replace.

The front of my house has a wonderful bow window that needed to be replaced because of hail damage. Well it has been replaced but still looks like it has hail damage from nails being driven through the metal cladding. Roger promised to have the worker come back and replace the metal cladding. I went ahead and paid them the balance of 11K in early April of the 30+k of what that we had done trusting that the work will be done in a timely basis. I will post when that work is completed.

Dallas was great to work with. We love our new windows and doors. The crew that came to install were friendly, efficient and neat. Highly recommended!
