Had Maco come out to evaluate a loud rattling coming from my gas fireplace flue every time we used it. Guys came out and diagnosed a bad blower motor on the roof. Told me that the blower motor was not fixable; needed to be completely replaced. Quoted me a flat $9200.00 for the motor and replacement.

I did some research and saw that the identical motor retailed for around $3200. Even given them the benefit of the doubt for extra costs for shipping, etc., they were clearly going to charge me north of $5000 for labor to install a completely self contained unit that attaches to the roof with only a handful of bolts and a single electrical connection. (I also confirmed that blower motors are worked on all the time and do not always need replacement at the first sign of a problem). I therefore got a second opinion.

The other company I had come out confirmed that the rattle was in fact NOT coming from the blower motor at all, but from a loose piece in a different motor serving the flue vent. They charged me $500 plus tax for parts and labor to fix it. $500. Done.

So, Maco (1) misdiagnosed the problem, (2) lied to me that blower motors cannot be repaired in any scenario, and then (3) gave me a wildly inflated bid in the hopes that my ignorance would be to their benefit. Terrible.

This company is fantastic! We had a leaking sky light, and gas fireplace needed to be rehabbed. They were able to attend to both problems and their service was superb. Unlike other companies, MACO returned my call promptly and scheduled us for an estimate quickly. They were prompt in arriving and their estimates were spot on. We were quickly cued up for service. They arrived as promised and fixed everything - sky light replaced, both gas fireplaces now look like new only better! No mess left behind. They are super competent, polite, reliable and friendly. We were going to sell our house, until we noticed our fireplace was not functioning. We called this company, and we’re hoping they could solve the problem quickly since we were moving. Maor said my fireplace had bad connections and needed to be replaced, he got it done quickly. I’m really happy, and so we’re the new owners.

My fireplace wasn't working so I decided to call Maco. Maor came out and determined my parts needed to be replaced. I agreed, and the replacement was done quickly. I can say I'm very satisfied with the job. I would recommend this company, most professional work I've seen in a long time.

I hired MACO Construction to perform a complete rebuild of my firebox in my fireplace. The final work is astounding. The firebox looks brand new. The price was reasonable and fair and they were finished with repairs in one day. They did a good job cleaning up after themselves and we couldn’t be more happier with the final results. I recommend them highly!

MACO Chimney did an amazing job repairing the crown and bricks on my chimney. They also installed a damper cap that looks great! Thank you to the kind technicians for taking their time to repair my chimney. They did an excellent job from start to finish.

MACO company completely rebuilt our fireplace to make it a wood-burning fireplace. They also rebuilt our chimney on the roof after many years of deterioration and leaking. Their work ethic and final result is outstanding. Our fireplace is now so much more enjoyable and has an excellent airflow. These guys are professional and they know what they are doing.

I called MACO chimney, because I had a problem with my gas fireplace. Maor came and inspected my fireplace, checked for gas leaks. Turns out we had a small gas leak we were not aware of, we are so glad Maor caught it, he serviced it and repaired it on time. Very professional.

Just had the Maco technicians leave my house. They said it would be over $3000.00 to replace the valve, pilot light, and thermocouple assembly on my nature gas fireplace. I thought I would give the trades a chance, and they failed. A new 36" fireplace is cheaper than that. I just purchased a new complete valve assembly online and had it shipped to my house for $600. I estimate it will take me about 1/2 an hour to swap out the old unit. I just saved myself over three thousand dollars. Had they even been slightly realistic, I would have gone with them. I figure with markup maybe 850 for the unit and a few hundred dollars for the install. This was a gosh darn price gouging attempt. This was a $150 dollar service fee lesson that I won't soon forget. Oh, and the guy wouldn't give me an itemized breakdown of parts and labor. Beware!

Edit -providing a response to the businesses’ reply: I specifically asked for an itemized breakdown of the parts and labor, which your technician refused to provide. You know as well as I do that a man standing in your living room spouting off a huge number for something that is a very expensive estimate while charging you $150.00 estimate fee, and then not providing a proper itemized estimate is going to be rather upsetting. After he left, I ordered everything that you stated above including a remote gas controller with flame control for $600.00. That's at retail cost. So you’re saying that your technician was going to charge $2700.00 for install labor? Let's just say your labor fee is $150.00 an hour. Is your technician going to take 18 hours on the install? Tell you what, I'll video record my install and upload the entire video when finished. I don't care how you spin it, $3300.00 is well over three times what this should cost.

Used Maco Construction service before on another house and they did a great job. So I had them put new roof on my other house. The workers are very competent and the cleanup was terrific. I’d highly recommend Maco Construction for the work, and the great treatment of the customer. just a superior Service.

Called for gas fireplace service in my new condo as the unit was not igniting. Maor was on time, very professional, diagnosed the problem quickly and got the fireplace going properly in no time. I am very pleased with his service and scheduled a full clean and maintenance in May. Thanks!!!

The Maco team did a great job repairing our leaking roof. We had water coming in through the chimney which damaged a large section of the roof and created a 3 ft. crack in our living room ceiling. They took lots of pictures to show us the damage, work in progress and finished project to keep us informed throughout. They were careful, efficient and very communicative with the repair of our chimney, roof and interior ceiling. Simon was also very helpful providing the information needed for insurance coverage. Insurance denied coverage at first and Simon made the extra effort to help us get the proper insurance coverage. We would recommend Maco to others.

Simon came and replaced the guts of my malfunctioning gas fireplace. He and his office staff were super professional, kind and nice to work with. He was responsive, on time and a great guy all-around. I will definitely be working with him again in the future!
