Our family suffered a devastating flood last year and we had Mackey and his team contracted for the restoration of the entire house. His team was highly professional and were able to bring the vision that we had for our post-flood home to life. The work completed was precise and incredibly well executed. Throughout the process, he and his team consulted with us extensively on all decisions where we might have shown preference - ex. using one material over another, aesthetic finishings, functionality of a space based on our lifestyle, etc. We really appreciated this, as we have used contractors in the past that have taken liberty towards decisions of that nature. The team was happy to install extra features we requested - such as extra molding and customized doors to elevate the aesthetic of our new home and create the space we envisioned. Mackey showed care and attention to detail over the end product as one would their own home. Him and his team were also exceptionally friendly and easy to work with. They were careful to make sure that all dust and excess materials were thoroughly collected and disposed of as necessary once the job was done. We cannot say enough good things about Mackey General Contractors. From the start, Brandon was professional and responsive and answered all of our questions honestly. We remodeled our only full bath and they were able to minimize the downtime of the tub replacement so we were at least able to shower. Brandon and Richie’s attention to detail was top notch. We are thrilled with the finished remodel and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again!

Finding a contractor is not easy and I'd imagine that if you're reading this, you are where I was a few months ago when I first located Mackey General Contractors. After water damage in my home I spoke with more than 10 contractors, was able to finally get two to come to my house and neither provided the estimates they were putting together or severely underestimated what needed to be fixed at my home. From the very first time I talked with Robert on the phone, I knew my home was going to be well taken care of. Robert and Brandon promptly came to my home and provided a very thorough estimate, talked me very carefully through all of my options, and showed they were clearly listening to my needs as the homeowner of what was most important to return my home to pre-damage condition.

Let me just say that the work they did was FABULOUS! Mackey will bring you nothing but the best. The flooring subcontractor they located was so detailed that I have family members commenting on the detailed work around my fireplace. The crew they hired to move my belongings out of the home treated everything like it was their own and even added felt pads on all of my furniture to protect my new floors. The painting team fixed up my basement ceiling and walls without a drop of paint spilled anywhere. And the carpentry team who fixed my cabinets returned the kitchen to pristine condition.

Beyond the amazing work, Robert and Brandon are extremely helpful advocates during the homeowners insurance claims process. They have worked with several insurance companies and know exactly what's needed to coordinate seamlessly with them.

Mackey General Contractors went above and beyond for us, working directly with our insurance company to get the work done. They we responsive to my many questions and communicated what to expect every step of they way throughout our 2 month project.

I highly recommend Mackey General Contractors. Top notch professionals and very easy to work with. We recently used them to replace our roof and they did an excellent job! They even used a nice drone with a camera to show us before and after videos and pictures to make sure we were completely satisfied. The owner walked me through the process, knew exactly how to deal with the insurance company to move the claim forward and kept me in the loop every step of the way. The crew showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned up and replaced the roof in a timely matter. We now have a beautiful, new roof and will use them again for any work needed in our home.

Mackey General Contractors did an outstanding job for us. Our roof was damaged by a tornado in June. They were able to diagnose the roof leak problem and repair it. They repaired and restored our ceiling as well.

I’m glad I was referred to Mackey. I had a leak in my dining room ceiling. My bathroom above the dining room needed to be torn out to fix the issue. So had a hole in my dining room ceiling and a hole in my bathroom floor 30 days into my new home. Didn’t even make my first mortgage payment. Robert came in day one to to do the estimate for insurance. He was very polite and walked me through the whole process. He calmed me down and said everything will be fine. Next Brandon and Mike come to do the reconstruction. Again they calmed me down and explained everything. They explained everything as if i was at a 3 star michelin restaurant explaining everything on my plate. They would answer all of the many questions i asked. I work from home due to covid19. And during my video meetings they would keep things down or even step out until i was done. I mean really catered to me. They did a lot of extra work for me that was not on the estimate. They went above and beyond. During the whole process robert was in contact with my adjuster so i didnt have to worry. However once the work was completed my adjuster approved half the estimate. Initially they approved the whole estimate. So this blew my mind that my insurance company did a bait and switch. Im coming out of pocket i thought. But nope mackey negotiated with my insurance company and got them to approve it. Mackey will work for you. They treat you like family. My house looks better than before the damage. Mackey is the only contractor that will step foot in my house. Mackey is the only contractor i will recommend. Again I got the michelin 3 star service from them. Save yourself time, money and stress. I needed a man door installed on the side of my garage. They did a phenomenal job. They were very professional and the work was very well done. They were very responsive, which has not been my experience with most general contractors. I would highly recommend them to others when they need general contracting work done around their house.

I would hire Mackey General Contractors to do work on my townhouse again hands down, no questions asked! We had extensive water damage that started in our master bathroom on the second floor and leaked down thru the drywall into the kitchen on the first floor. From the initial call to the final repair, Mackey General Contractors helped us every step of the way, answering any questions we had at any time of the day, and easing our concerns and anxiety. They were very involved in every aspect of the repair process, especially in helping us pick out new fixtures and accessories and offering their expert opinion. I had leakage in my basement in Nov 2019. To fix the basement, I had called one certified plumber. To get the basement job, he said that he will do all the work. Then, he took out all the flooring from the basement. after fixing leakage, he took a large amount of money. Because we were new to town and the first time we buy the house. He made me fool that I have to pay all the money upfront, later insurance will pay me back. I paid the money after that he doesn't pick up my calls. if I ask him for papers work he doesn't even provide that. After months of fight with my insurance told me to hire a general contractor. I started the search for a contract, after a long search, I have found Mackey General Contractor. I called them for an estimate they came and explained the whole situation. I hired them as my contractor. They fought with my insurance because my insurance doesn't want to pay for many things which were important for the basement. They talked with more than five calm adjusters. In the end, my insurance agreed with the contractor for the work. My insurance claim got approved and the contractor has started the work and finished in the week. Mackey General contractor is an awesome contractor. My bad luck that I couldn't found them before. They have done an awesome job in the basement. I recommend other people that if you want quality work, please contact Mackey’s general contractor.

I highly recommend Mackey General Contractors and will be eager to call them the next time we have a project! We have a U-shaped ranch in Bloomingdale that is lovely but needs some upgrades. Our master bedroom had brown stucco walls from the previous owner which were not our style. It also had windows that were literally falling apart. We kept putting off getting the room done because it seemed like a hassle. Working with Robert and Brandon made it seem easy and they transformed our bedroom into the clean modern look we wanted with new walls, trim, paint, and windows. Our only regret was putting the project off for so long, and now that we have found the best contractor in the area we won’t do that again.

We were very happy and satisfied with Mackey General Contractors. They were very efficient. They made a very unpleasant situation easy. We had a broken sewer line that damaged our finished basement. They took care of everything from the insurance, to the mitigation crew, to all the contractors to make all the repairs. They covered areas that were not damaged to protect them from dust or scratches. They even had a cleaning crew to clean up after completion. We would highly recommend them for any of your remodeling needs. Definitely 5 stars!!

MGC installed a new concrete driveway at my house. They were on time, communicative, and fast. Their price was competitive, and I couldn't be happier with the end-result. This is not hyperbole! I do not like hyperbole, and the internet is fraught with hyperbole. MGC took such good care of us that I'm considering using them for all my home projects. The driveway looks pristine, and was completed so quickly that one of my neighbors got it done as well (and this is a family with whom I've never met). I had some "tricky" requests involving one of my gutters, and MGC improved on the vision I had. It's nice to work with professionals.

When a pipe leak left my kitchen destroyed I knew I was in way over my head! I called Robert and Brandon out to my home in Joliet to come take a look - they took one step in and realized insurance didn’t provide me with enough money to do the necessary repairs. Brandon worked with my difficult insurance claims adjuster to get the appropriate funds, even spending three hours on the phone going through the claim line by line.

Mackey General Contractors are not only knowledgeable about construction and repair but they expertly navigate working with insurance companies. I could never have finished my kitchen repairs and renovation without them! I have a dream kitchen that looks like it belongs on TV, thanks to Brandon, Mike, and Robert!

After such a great job on our upstairs remodel project, we had Mackey General Contractors do a large scale addition of a screened in porch, new patio, and some modifications/upgrades to a second structure (hot tub room) on the back of our house. It involved a lot of twists and turns, many challenges to overcome throughout the project due to ours being an older home but MGC were able to handle every obstacle that was presented and did excellent in coordinating all of the various professionals that needed to be part of the project (architect, electrician, cement laying, landscapers to lay some sod, etc.). We are in love with our new outdoor space!

John and Brandon have helped me with numerous projects in my house and all have turned out great! They think of creative solutions to problems and work to make the projects a reasonable price without jeopardizing quality!!

This is the second time Mackey General Contractors has performed work on my house. It's too bad I can't give 6 stars, because in both instances, both the repairs and the whole process were deserving of 110%. Not only are Robert and Brandon extremely knowledgeable, but they are very patient, professional, prompt, and dedicated to nothing less than quality work. For one of the jobs, Robert did a stellar job working out a long drawn-out settlement with my VERY stubborn insurance company. My insurance company initially denied 95% of the roof wind/hail damage, but over the next few months, Robert chipped away at the insurance company's excuses by using both actual evidence (from pictures he took) and by using legally-derived arguments from actual case law. Finally the insurance company buckled, and they agreed to replace the entire roof. What a feat! I look forward to doing business with Mackey General Contractors in the future.

Robert, the owner of this company cares about his customers and their feelings about the work done. He personally visited the job before and after completion, and called in between just to check on our satisfaction level. Dave and Frank are multi-talented, trustworthy guys who not only made my vision come to life, but exceeded my expectations. They treated my home like it was their own and although I was glad the job was done, I was equally as sorry to see them leave. My only regret is that I hadn't found them sooner, because all companies I met before I hired this one were a complete and utter waste of time.

Mackey General Contractors did a phenomenal bathroom renovation in my home! They restored water damaged sub-floor and drywall, which was the primary cause for me needing the project done. Brandon kept me informed throughout every step of the process, and his attention to detail and dedication to completing a quality job is much appreciated. He found a couple other items that needed to be resolved, which I wasn't previously aware of; if he had not discovered and repaired them, it would have caused future damage and expenses for me. In addition to the water damage being resolved, I was also looking to update the design of the bathroom and add value to my home. Brandon helped me make decisions on the best quality materials for my project, while also allowing me to work within my budget. Earlier in the year, we suffered roof damage - but once we fixed the main problem, we were left with a water-damaged kitchen in terrible condition. Our ceiling and multiple walls needed to be completely redone and replaced. We worked on it with family members for a while - but were left hanging with SEVERAL other local contractors that "no call no show"-ed on us, making the job incredibly difficult to complete (we're not professionals, so we could only do so much).

When Mackey Contracting arrived, they were able to promptly address our issues, plainly explaining what we needed to accomplish to get the job wrapped up. They arrived on-time and without any scheduling issues with ample equipment. The work was above average and exceptional for the price-point, as we were getting quotes from independent (and uncertified) handymen that were more expensive. After just a couple days, our project that initially was taking months was near complete. They worked fast, thoroughly and were a pleasure to communicate with - taking a lot of pressure off of our shoulders. We can finally use our kitchen again!

EDIT // DECEMBER 2022: I utilized MGC for an insurance job after a storm left the exterior of my home quite damaged and in need of several repairs. Based upon my prior experience, they were a no-brainer to call, and didn't let me down. Through multiple stages of tree removal, debris clean-up, thorough assessments and negotiations with my insurance company, they were able to get me the most "bang for my buck" so to speak in terms of repairs owed to me. Within several days, the siding of my home was completely replaced in record time, and my home looks nearly brand new from the curb.

Their attention to detail and genuine compassion for their customers is evident in every step of the way. I've had many experiences with other contractors and have always felt like there was something I wasn't quite "in the loop" over. With MGC, they explain everything very clearly and communicate logistical options with succinct plans for how to execute them without any sense of being swindled or misled.

What was initially a house nightmare turned into a beautiful redux of my entire home.
