I had the worst possible experience with this so-called company LB, especially Angel and the owner Luis.
I posted my project on the Internet and they volunteered to respond and come to give me an estimate. We negotiated down the asking price to an agreed price. I received a contract, for which they collected two-thirds (2/3) of the money in the form of deposit and to start the project and the remaining 1/3 to be paid upon completion.
They built a below the par deck. The planks facing the steps are extremely short, and they left huge gaps not only in combining two different pieces of woods, but also above the platforms of each step. There are no accessories, such as the L-shaped metal connectors, that connect the bottom of the pillars to the platform. The rails are not nailed. I took pictures and sent them to Angel, but to no avail.
When it comes to the patio and the pathway, that's where things got worse. The concrete that was there, as he started dismantling it down, he said he would have to charge me extra since it appears to be thicker than he anticipated. I disagreed to that. I told him that he should have known that when he came to take all the measurements in more than one occasion. In addition to that, I said you have been using my electricity and that I wish he had a generator, and that he should take that into consideration and not consider charging me extra. He said he never heard anyone mention such concerns over electricity. Luis, supposedly his boss voiced the same concerns, although that had nothing to do with stopping the work. I in fact reinforced to Angel that I have a generator and that it's being fixed, meanwhile, it's OK to continue the work. Instead, in his disrespectful ways, he told me over the phone that it's the same as not having one since it's being fixed, and further added that he would not do any more work at my place until I could show him the electricity bill. Upon saying that, he hung up on me. I called back and would not pick up. I called another number for the company, the individual who picked up the phone indicated that he was already told about that and I was talking he too hung up on me.
Weeks had gone by and since he had left lots of garbage behind, I sent him a text message requesting that he came to pick up his garbage, for I had a gathering that was going to take place that weekend. On the Friday before the gathering, he came in with his boss, Luis, and he denied everything that he ever agreed on doing. And his boss went by his contention of the electricity. Luis, his boss, said although he had the pictures but he believed in the, made-up, argument regarding my concern for the electricity that they used to start ripping the concrete which was approximately 1/5 of the way. I was baffled by that contention since it was never a real issue. Luis said he would have to simply build on the sub-layer of the patio to install the pacers. Furthermore, he argued that they won't be able to make the pathway curved anymore. He contended that that one is not in the contract and that it would cost me more money to do that, despite the fact that Angel requested the pictures to get it done that way initially. He agreed on installing the pacers over that layer for the patio, whereas it says building a patio on the contract.
After I called him multiple times, he finally answered and it was my wife who at that time wanted to inquire about the hold up to complete the project. He told her that he had other customers who paid way more money for other projects and that when he's done with them, then he'll look into our project. I overheard my wife, within the same conversation, telling "Oh my gash, why are you so disrespectful"? Just like he maintained in his exchanges with me that he had other customers who paid his company about $100,000.00 for projects and that ours is nothing.
We'd call him ample times & when he finally picked up only to inform us briefly that his workers had all called out & that he'd be there the following week and would never show up. Unbelievable!!!
