Layman Brothers Insulation

I ordered 6" gutters, but because I mentioned that I needed gutter clips they decided on their own to bring out half round gutter. When I tried to find a solution I was cursed at and told I was screwed. So I called the office and spoke with Mike Layman. The man himself and the only solution he offered me was well we'll try again tomorrow and sorry you had 3 guys on site waste their day and your money. No attempt to correct the situation, no attempt to make it right. Just a group of guys who couldn't care less about their customers. Be very aware these guys struggle to do their job.

We (Local roofing company) refer these guys on a daily basis for any gutter needs. Drew Layman is a class act and always has the customers best interest in mind. They have done a lot of work for our company and we have been satisfied 100% of the time.

AWESOME JOB! I had new insulation put under the crawl space and new vapor barrier. I cant speak highly enough about how good it looks and super affordable. This is also the 2nd time I've used them. Highly recommended

I have used Layman Bros for years for personal and investment properties from insulation , gutters , crawl space encapsulation, etc and they have always been on time, high quality , and a great price. Highly recommend

I reached out to Layman because I had cold spots in my home and wanted to know if I needed more insulation in my attic or crawl space. Andrew came out and assessed my property and everything insulation wise was fine. There wasn’t anything his company could offer but he did give a few suggestions or energy savings tips. I appreciate that he didn’t come in and “create business”. Great honest company. If something changes, they will be the first that I reach out to!

We contracted with Layman for work in our attic. They were fast, professional, did good work and were extremely easy to work with. I would definitely recommend them.

First visit (11/19/24): They showed up with the wrong materials (incorrect width insulation)

Second visit (11/20/24): They didn't show up

Third visit (11/25/24): They didn't show up

After calling them to cancel my order, they attempted to charge my credit card for removal of the old insulation and installation of new insulation.

I called the office, and the office manager was incredulous, stating that an invoice hadn't even been generated. She said that she would make sure no further credit card charges would be attempted.

Shortly thereafter, I received an invoice via email for the full amount of the job, and I again called the office manager. She connected me with the billing representative, who told me the bill was for removal of the old insulation. I told her that no insulation was ever removed.

Astonishing incompetence.

If I could give zero stars, I would.

Great people, very easy to deal with, great installers! That was one of the most simple contractor transactions I have ever had.
Full house gutter install

Spent tens of thousands of dollars with this company and when we did all the leg work to clearly prove something to be faulty insulation, they would not stand behind their product or install. In fact, prior to not handling their poor workmanship issue, Mike Layman (owner) told me in writing, that they would be replacing the 60' of 7" box gutter because it was clear that they were in the wrong. One can only assume that once they realized what it was going to cost to make it right, they backed off of what they agreed to do. I gave them one last opportunity to discuss other options or we would need to proceed with legal means and there was no reply. A BBB complaint has also come with "no response." Clearly a business that will gladly take your money, but not do the right thing and stand behind their work. We have now obtained a estimate for replacement from another contractor and will have it handled legally from here. Watch yourself with this company and the brothers who run it before you commit.

We have used Layman Brothers for various projects on various properties over the years. I only wish all the companies we deal with were as prompt and professional. The prices are always fair. They've never once gone over budget and they're always there and finished when they say they're going to be. We're very happy clients.

Good company, they do good work at fair prices. The biggest plus is the answer the phone, respond and show up! That's what you get when you go to a locally , family-owned small business.

Do not waste your time. I asked to be copied on an estimate and they had an issue doing this. Then said my asking was “aggressive” and might not do the work. BYE! Red flag! Does not communicate well. Very unprofessional. Waste of time and the staff that answers the phone is straight gutter!

These guys are simply the best. Knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I call them whenever I need a service they provide, especially gutters and insulation.

Absolutely no care for another's time. Originally had a good experience with having insulation installed. No problems, however my gutter installment has been move 4 times without a call, notice or care for the individual taking time to be there. After being moved for the now 5th time today I obviously was not notified, instead I called in like before only to be talked to like a child. "We have to many customers then to call those who days have been moved or canceled by us." Your gonna have to just call in again Monday and hope we get to you. What a joke. Absolutely no care for military members times even after expressing the difficulty of getting uncle Sam to give me time.

They are horrible!!. My builder used them to put gutters on my new house and they pitched the gutters too low and water sits in the front gutter. I called them to let them know and they gave me the run around by saying they would take care of it. They told me to talk to Mr. Donnie Raglin. He came out and said oh yeah I'm gonna send the guys out to fix this. HE stopped answering my calls and the secretary also gave me the run around. Mr. Layman finally called back and again said they would come out on two different days and never showed. I called the secretary back and she said "we can give you a quote on how much it would cost to fix it. Don't use these people! Shotty workmanship

OUTSTANDING!

I was given a fair price for installing a section of insulation under my house and placing a moisture barrier under the entire home.

I also work in the service industry so I have the standards of which a company should adhere when hiring and training and supervising its crews and workers, and hands down this is one of the best companies I've ever worked with.

Not only were the crew prompt and on time, they were professional and friendly and fast, and respected my property thoroughly.

I'll have them back for blown insulation in my attic soon, and there's no need for me to look anywhere else for insulation or gutters or moisture barrier or anything else they do. I trust them fully, and so should you.

Company representative came to our house on 8/20/2020 wherein she gave us an estimate and gave us a repair date of 10/01/2020. The company called us before that date and cancelled giving us a new date of 10/08/2020. We have a gutter situation that needed timely repair. On 10/07/2020 we contacted the company and asked the “ball park” time for the repairmen’s arrival. The woman on the phone asked us to call back in the morning on October 8. We did and were told she could not find our job ticket for TOMORROW. I told her the job was scheduled for TODAY.The woman said she would contact the “gutter supervisor” and get back to us.
That was at 9 a.m. At 1:30 p.m. we called again after waiting home all day. The woman said:”I just got off the phone with the supervisor, and unfortunately your ticket did not go out today.” At that point we FIRED Layman Brothers Insulation LLC (854). We suggest you avoid doing business with them at ALL COSTS.!

The picture here, taken in September, is of insulation that was supposedly brand new in July. Looks much older to me. I purchased a home where Laymen Brothers did the vapor barrier in the crawl space, replaced all of the insulation and cleaned all the mold. The vapor barrier was laid on top of PARTICLE BOARD which is a breeding ground for moisture and mold. I called to have them come look at the work and when the Foreman showed up he said I needed an exterminator and would not even go in there. Extermination has been done and I have yet to get a call back for them to remove the particle board.

Mike showed up on time for the estimate. I tweeked the configuration a little after receiving the estimate and they handled that OK. The installers showed up on time. They were friendly and picked up after themselves. I guess because they do this all the time, they don't use a level or line which I probably works for them most of the time. But in this case there were 3 gutters (out of 11) that weren't properly sloped. I called the office and they had someone out within a couple of days to fix it with no hassle. So, while there was room for improvement, I would recommend them.

My husband and I purchased a home March 2019, where the previous owner hired a company, who then sub contracted Layman Brothers to complete the job. As the homeowners, we were not obligated to pay as the original company got paid, and was hiring them to do a job. Today, I find out that this company put a mechanical lien on my home, which prevents refinancing, selling ect. They admitted that they just wanted the previous company to pay them and that we as the homeowners don't owe us, but yet and still they never made contact with us but instead went to the courthouse and falsely accused us for not paying. This company presents like the value Integrity, knowledge and excellent service – "these aren’t just words, they represent how Layman Brothers does business, since 2003" However, if they truly valued integrity they would know what that word means. It is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles, which they do not.

They installed gutters on my house. Communication was excellent from their home-office to the estimator, to their installer. Great prices, and they were able to complete the job on time. Would definitely recommend.

We Love the way the gutters look on our newhouse. Layman brothers did an awesome job. They also worked on the attic & crawl insulation & now our home is so cozy & warm.

Nothing but good things to say about this company. I have had my attic and wall insulation done as well as my gutters done by this company. And they have been nothing but nice and on time. They will also give you their honest opinion and not try to nickel and dime you. If you need any insulation or gutter work to be done give these guys a call. I cant recommend them more

Called and scheduled to have new gutter covers installed. First day they no showed and no call. After calling them they said I was scheduled for the next day. Second day no show and no call. Called to cancel the work to be done. No apology, nothing. Huge waste of time. Really bad customer service.

Do not use this company! We recently hired them to install gutter guards on our new home. They failed to clean the downspouts prior to installing the guards and water was gushing down the side of my house within two weeks of having guards installed. Defeats the purpose...right? I called to have the issue corrected and was told they would get someone out prior to the end of the week to correct it...I called on a Monday AM; don't you think someone coming ASAP and not by the end of the week would have been more appropriate? I asked to be notified when the individual would be out to fix it...no call. I called the following morning to see what the status was and was informed the ticket had been picked up and it should be addressed that same day...she would not know if it had been handled until the following morning. I was told I would receive a call the following morning to confirm. No one showed up and no call...surprise surprise. I finally took it upon myself to correct the situation as I grew tired of waiting and knew that heavy downpours were in the forecast that afternoon. Finally someone showed up 4 days later and I told him, thanks but no thanks. If this company cannot do something as simple as install gutter guards and clean downspouts, I would NEVER use them for anything else. BUYER BEWARE.
PS...My first clue should have been the fact that I called for an estimate and had to follow-up several times to get the actual estimate. I was told they thought it was done because someone else with the last name Miller had an estimate completed around the same time. What a nightmare. Don't walk...RUN from this company.

Dealing with Layman Brothers has been a nightmare from start to finish. We hired them to install gutters on our new house 08/2017 - never met the salesman, James Rhodes, face-to-face (only spoke with him via telephone). Initially (10/2017) they installed the wrong color gutters (gloss white on a tan house, really?!); Jim Layman himself said, "No one in their right mind would install gloss white gutters on this house." Then they didn't show up the first time they were supposed to correct the issue. We were told our "paperwork must have gotten lost." Several days later they showed up to remove the wrong color gutters and install the correct ones. We had asked prior to first installation that the gutters come out underneath our front porch, so the water wasn't pouring and running along the foundation of the house. This wasn't done until 04/2018. We attempted to get in touch with James and the office for months but never received a return call. After the front porch issue was corrected, which was 2 weeks past when we were told it'd be completed, we had to wait another few days for a splash guard because the employee who fixed the issue "forgot" to bring one. Additionally, the gutter guards were falling off on one side of the house (fixed by Jim Layman himself 04/2018) and on another side of the house damaged gutters were installed (still not corrected). 03/2018 my credit card was charged for full price (surprise!) though we had made arrangements with the office to pay by check; the credit card was kept on file to hold our appointment for installation only. We also never received a final invoice from the office prior to the card being charged. We spoke with the office (Amy Lacy) about a possible discount due to the poor workmanship, lack of timeliness of completion, and other inconveniences experienced during this 6-9 month period. Instead of having a reasonable conversation, she screamed and cursed at me over the phone, then ended up hanging up on me.

I would not recommend anyone use this company. I am also aware that a large local contracting company ended their contract with Layman Brothers due to countless issues with their workmanship and service. If customer service, integrity, and good work for your money are important to you, do not use Layman Brothers. Jim Layman was the only person we dealt with who was reasonable. He agreed that we should not have to pay full price and stated "you should get what you pay for." These issues are still not resolved and we are attempting to work through them but are trying to deal with the office as little as possible due to the lack of professionalism exhibited by Amy Lacy.

We got insulation attic, crawl space, and gutters installed. They came in got the job done! No fuss, no hassle! I appreciate this because building a house can be challenging and they made their steps so easy! Fast and efficient! I would recommend them to everyone! Good job guys!

I had my crawl space done. I requested they call me after finishing a job and they never did. Other than that the work was OK. Insulation was put in place everywhere but not cut to width (pushed in and compressed) and held in place with metal bars that compress the insulation in some spots.

Insulation crew ran out of insulation during my job, so they just used what they had on the truck to finish. Half the job has paper facing and the other half doesn't. Unreal. I tried to get a hold of someone in the office for two days to rectify the problem, but no one emailed or called me back. When I finally talked with their general manager, John, he hung up on me after I asked for a discount on the work. Installed Building Products bought out a bunch of small insulation shops, so this isn't really Layman brothers anymore. IBP isn't a bad company, but this branch is being mismanaged. John over there is supposed to be the man in charge and you'll get zero customer service from him. They take your credit card info when you sign the proposal and they run it an hour after their crew leaves the job. So if there are problems, they already have your money. Check out this picture.

This company is a nightmare to work with, I would have given them 1 star if it would let me. Their work was so bad we had to kick them off the jobsite and have someone else thats competent come in and finish. While they were on the job they ran 3 neighbors off the road and caused an accident. I would highly recommend avoiding this company and their terrible drivers.
