This guy is amazing! I met him when I sold my house and he inspected my own home for someone else! He was so good at his job I knew that when I found my own home and I needed an inspection there wasn’t anyone else I wanted to use! He is super nice guy and knows what he’s doing. If you want a bad house inspection don’t call this guy… he does it right

I was so appreciative of Jon and the care he took to explain things during the inspection. Having to travel from out of state, Jon was able to schedule the inspection to coincide with my limited time in Iowa. He had excellent communication, reaching out both before and after the inspection to make sure any questions I might have were answered. And that report! I’ve had home inspections before but none were as thorough and informative as his. I was able to get some important concessions from the seller based on Jon’s findings. Jon was very professional when speaking on the phone prior to our appointment. Confidence is key! At first, Jon was a little overwhelming, BUT I found that that was a good thing! He is passionate about what he does and making sure you get something good. I’d rather pay for him to inspect something, and do it well, then to be out 100,000’s of $$ on a house that isn’t worth it. GREAT EXPERIENCE.

This guy is amazing honorable straightforward, and will tell you what you need to do what you need to take care of and what you don’t need to take care of.
He is extremely detailed. He spent hours here on everything from the outside to the roof to the attic to the basement to the crawlspace is to the heaters air conditioning. You name it he looked at it.!

Jon does great at his work knows what to look for and has a cool looking Thermocamera to detect any bad signs of water leakage in homes. I learned a lot from him on friday and his reports are very thorough plus he gives you a free inspection manual book on homes, definitely recommend him for your house inspection needs!

2nd time using Jon as a home inspector. I saved a couple thousand dollars on both houses after renegotiating based on repairs that probably should be done before sale. Jon also provides an extremely comprehensive list of things you should watch for & work on yourself throughout your time as a homeowner. Really great working with Jon. He showed up early and walked this beginner through everything. I learned so much from him and hope to work with him again in the future! Jon cares about his work and provided a seamless experience with a thorough inspection of my property. No stone goes unturned!

Flexible, reliable, trustworthy, and has the ability to explain things at whatever level needed. When my fiancée and I were worried about an incoming snowstorm, Jon was able to find extra time in his schedule to check out the exterior of our home a day early (before it hit). He made it on inspection day as well, through 8-10 inches of snow, to finish up the inside. We got a thorough report hours later. Since we weren’t able to make it, he scheduled a phone call with us to explain any and everything he found. He’s definitely the go-to for any inspection needs you have!

I can not reccomend Jon enough!

As first time home buyers, we had a lot of questions. Jon patiently and thoughouly explained everything, in almost a fatherly way.

Jon gave us an extremely thorough walk through of the house that took almost 4 hours.He let us know what issues he would fix first and which improvements could be delayed. He also explained what kind of upkeep our house would need to keep it it top shape.

Even when things didnt go to plan he handled it like a professional. For example, when moving the oven, electric sparks flew in his face. It clearly shook him at first, but he continued inspection and was even able to joke about.

Jon got his over 100 page report to us the same day as the walk through. The report was color coded and included tons of photos.

I will definitely hire Jon again for future home inspections.

Bonus points he looked like Jack Black and had a great sense of humor.

Typically not in his territory, Jon traveled to Charles City to perform our inspection. I have purchased a home in the past with an inspector who was not nearly as educated or thorough, which resulted in disappointments. Do your homework on your inspector! Check their Google reviews. And remember you do not have to use the one referred to you by your agent - you are free to select your own inspector.

Jon is an absolute professional and does some of the most thorough work that I’ve ever seen done. When you hire him to inspect your home he is not there to sell you on the house. He is there to let you know realistically things that could cause problems and things you could fix yourself. He does a good job of education so that the things he says, don’t scare you, but will let you know his honest opinion about the state of your home. Absolutely would recommend to anyone I know, and if I ever end up moving again, I will be hiring him again.

Jon did an extremely thorough job of inspecting the house we were looking to buy. I've been through 3 home inspections and never had an inspector invite and encourage me to be present for the inspection before Jon. I learned a lot from that experience and fully appreciate Jon's skills, efforts, and anecdotes. I've lived in old, fixer-upper homes my whole life, but Jon mentioned to me that when homes were built in the past, they didn't have the same tools they have today. So even when they were brand new, the floors may have not been completely even. I hadn't even considered that, but it speaks to his knowledge of home construction and its history.

He really seems to care about his customers and even those who aren't, because we had a lengthy conversation about how he recommended I find a different home. He believed the one I liked would have a lot of expensive repairs just from his review of the listing photos.

I would have liked to have hired him, but I didn't have enough money to do so in the limited time I had to get the inspection completed.
