I am so fortunate and happy to have reconnected , since pandemic, with business of Johnny P. /Johnny Fix It. This review is for recent work completed truly above and beyond expectations! I asked Johnny if he could repair a wall taken apart to check water. It was really in bad state for a while. He had his crew not only repair it beautifully but to my surprise, paint not only the immediate wall once repaired, but the high ceiling over steps to basement, the surrounding area and also to fix an 8-10 inch gash under the stair railing. The first picture is before his work, the other 3 are afterwards the repaired wall, the hole by railing solidly filled and repaired, and the painting overhead. The work is perfect. The breadth of expertise over projects completed previously or prior pandemic would take another blog. However, will be sure to add future ones this spring! Thank you mega Johnny and team! I recommend his company to others without a second’s hesitation!

We had a very good experience with Johnny Fix-It (also knowns as JFI Construction) as a home contractor. We had previously worked with John Pidgeon and his team a couple of years ago for some home repairs. This year, we hired them to completely renovate our 60-70 -year-old kitchen. With their construction team and subcontracted electrician and plumber, they demolished the old kitchen, and they installed new walls ceiling and floor, new electrical outlets and circuits, and updated appliances. Irene, the project manager, was wonderful throughout and very reachable. Any concerns we had were listened to by the whole team. Irene also recommended the vendors we ended up using for new appliances, ceramic backsplash tiles, flooring, and plumbing fixtures. “Johnny” himself took care of some needed outdoor work. During the project, we had a lockbox with keys, so that the people working were able to come and go if we were not home at the time. The peace of mind in trusting the people working in our house was priceless. Although home construction necessarily comes with some stress, I believe that they kept the stress to a minimum. The project took about 4 weeks to completion. The new kitchen is beautiful and comfortable to use, and we would hire them again for other work in future.

Update of our review as of April 2025:
We have since had other work done on our house by the JFI Team. Johnny and his guys insulated our garage ceiling, after many drafty years. Johnny extended the insulation farther on the ceiling than originally intended in the contract - extremely responsible of him. The work was done in the late Fall/early Winter, and it made our room over the garage more comfortable throughout the winter.
Then, in the early winter, JFI and Irene worked with Mike and Perfect Cutz to renovate one of our old (1970?) bathrooms. We had mold coming through the tiles. The bathroom was mostly gutted, the old tub removed, and was retiled and painted and a walk-in shower was installed. The workers were considerate, and did a high quality job on the bathroom. It looks lovely, and even better, it is now very functional and comfortable to use.
Once again, I highly recommend Johnny Fix It, and we will continue to use them as our trusted contractor.

JFI Contracting is an exceptional company, the owner John Pigeon is a trustworthy and reliable Business Man. The Craftsman that did the work installing an attic access Mark, and Dan were professional, courteous and very respectful of my property. JFI Contracting has certainly earned my business in the future.

John and Irene are the Ace team for all things handyman, contractor, and building permit approval! The work is stellar and the rate is honest and in my experience, more than reasonable. Wish I had found them sooner. They were punctual, responsive, even on the weekends. They took care of everything I needed for the house to be ready for the market. I mean everything. From getting a permit for an existing garage conversion which includes meeting the inspector, installing missing alarms, removing an old shed, filling out the form; to remodeling old closets, getting the lawn mowed off season, and trash removal. I couldn't have done all this without their help. And they were caring and compassionate, which are qualities so rare for this line of work. Call them and don't think twice.

We were at the start of selling my in-laws home when we discovered that there was an Open Permit and no CO for something my father-in-law added to the house 50+ years ago.

Living 2 hours away this was going to be yet another chore for the family to deal with.

Our Real Estate Agent, Matt W. recommended that we call Johnny Fix It in Valley Cottage NY. He told us they are specialists at cleaning up details that could hinder an Estate Sale.

So the family got in touch with them and in short order they had estimates out to us so we could make some educated decisions about what needed to be done.

Irene at Johnny Fit It was incredible! She was my main contact and did all the work with the Clarkstown Building Department. She made the calls, scheduled appointments, had the proper contacts with contractors to get all the small items fixed so we could in good conscience sell the house knowing it was all ready to go and no surprises would await the new buyers.

If not for Irene, her follow-up and the good folks at Johnny Fix It, this process would have been a giant headache to navigate, especially from a distance.

I can't say enough about JFI and the entire crew! From the initial meeting where all the trades show up (Mike, Sal, Andy, Juan and Irene) to review the job until the completion of the very challenging and unpredictable bathroom-a complete renovation! During the gutting, all efforts were made to keep everything neat and clean. The men worked so hard to remove my old cast iron tub, rock lath and windows. New skylights were put in as well as heated floors and all new fixtures. I worked with Bruce at Greene and Roth to get all of my well-made supplies for the job! Everything is quality and fits the time period of my home. Irene is the girl who gets everything organized and keeps the trades on track! She is truly one amazing gal who knows her job and does it well! Any snags, and there will be bumps in the road of any reno (just the nature of the game) will be dealt with in a timely and professional manner! I am so pleased, I can't say enough about this company and their work ethics! I highly recommend them for any job you may be considering! Trust me I did my homework! I have 25* foot ceilings and it’s impossible to change the light bulbs - while you may think this is trivial, it’s not - Johnny Fix It takes everything seriously and does a great job, no matter how big or small.

They first came to the house to evaluate the issue.
They then followed up promptly in writing specifying the proposed work including the costs. They came to perform the work on time. They were efficient, professional, competent and pleasant to deal with. I would be happy to deal with them on any future projects. I gladly recommend Johnny Fixit.

We had JFI take out a sliding patio door and put in French swinging doors. Although a JFI subcontractor initially measured incorrectly which resulted in the wrong sized door being ordered; I was able to source the correct sized door without an extra fee. Once it arrived, JFI completed the project efficiently. The project only took one day (Friday), but they did not take the debris away until Monday. Normally I wouldn't mind, but we live in an HOA complex and that could have resulted in a fine which I did explain to the office on the phone. Thankfully, no one complained and no fine was issued. They also had to come back a second day to finishing installing the sliding screen door.

All in all, I am happy with the work completed. There were some issues along the way, but overall JFI did a quality job and the owner and office were super pleasant to work with. I would use JFI again, but keep in mind, that they do use subcontractors who are not necessarily represented by the reviews here.

JFI did a great job on my unusual request to fix a concealed under deck gutter. Defiantly worth it! Fast, courteous and trustworthy.

My wife and I have now used Johnny Fix It for two projects (with a third coming up). We first contacted Johnny Fix It to help us hang a mirror on our bedroom wall (there was a gap between the sheetrock and a layer of plaster that was beyond my skill level to overcome) and Johnny hung the mirror quickly with no issues.

A few months ago, we once again contacted Johnny Fix It in order to prep our house to move. Johnny did a walk through of our house, looking for any potential red flags that might come up, both visually for potential buyers but also items that might catch an inspector's attention. Johnny even advised against fixing a few minor items that would not benefit our attempts to sell the house. Johnny's team completed all the work in phases, putting the best specialist on each specific project.

As we are preparing to move, we will once again be contacting Johnny Fix It for help removing some items we plan to take with us to our new home.

Very happy with the renovation of the guest bathroom. The Johnny Fix It crew were very professional and true to their word in scheduling and following through on the project. I interviewed over 7+ contractors and felt like John, Mike and Irene were too good to be true in their straightforward approach.
I had already purchased and had delivered all the major material - tile, vanity w/ sink, shower & tub fixture, tub, sink fixture, lighting, LED mirror, and shower exhaust. After a quick visit and consultation w/ the project lead Mike followed by the electrician and plumber. Irene provided an estimate of the cost, timing - start & end, and payment schedule.
On October 5th a dumpster arrived and the demo began. On October 23rd the dumpster was hauled away and the bathroom was transformed from 70's mid-century modern to 2023 post-covid modern?!
A special thanks to Louis who did a great job cutting the vanity to fit the opening so that it looks custom built and installing the shower glass as well as a professional installer.
Andy did great work with the plumbing even with the fancy tub faucet which swivels out and back. The electrician Sal was able to run new electrical wiring without making unnecessary or additional holes which saved time and money.
Received the certification from the city that all of the work was to code and approved.

Johnny Fix it has been my “ go-to” contractor anytime I need home repair. . I’ve used them for smaller projects ( replacing a medicine cabinet) and larger projects. Currently he is ripping out and replacing a bathroom floor and tiles .

John Pidgeon completely gutted our kitchen, refinished our hardwood floors, opened the wall on our staircase and installed crown molding on all of our first floor. On time every day, communicative, clean and made sure we were always happy. We were beyond happy with all of the work done. I hired Johnny to do some minor home repairs at the request of a so called friend who worked for him. I let him know I will complete the work when certain home situations change. The work was fine but he fired the employee who had her boyfriend tell me she was fired because she didn’t love him the way he loved her. While I don’t care about the dramatics, this ex employee is threatening me because of things I asked for clarification on. She indicated that she knew where I lived. I NEVER gave her my address for personal reasons and it was only business. So Johnny has no protections of his clients and anyone has access to the info so I will never use him again. I left a message for a call back and I expect one. If this ex employee does anything, it will be on him as well.

Hired Johnny Fix It to install an air conditioner through my bedroom wall..work was amazing...the guys did an amazing job from start to finish...precise cutting, cleanup during and after...couldn't ask for better workmanship....outside perfect inside moulding around the conditioner was done very nicely....thank you to Johnny and his team !!!!!!

Repaired a large rotting out outside window on the outside bottom section. Guaranteed it would not rot for at least 3 years. Didn't even last a year. He promised he would redo the window at no charge. Another year plus has past. The window now must be replaced. Gave me a lot of excuses and finally stopped answering my calls. Johnny didn't fix it.

My husband and I recently hired Johnny Fix It to take care of a small project in our home that kept getting pushed aside. It was something that my husband thought he’d be able to handle himself, but found out it was a lot more involved than he thought once he got started. Still, it seemed like much too small of a project to hire a contractor for. However, when I reached out to Johnny Fix It, I was pleasantly surprised by how happy they were to help us out. I was able to get an estimate scheduled quickly and have the work done almost immediately. From the quick response and pleasantness of the office manager, Leigh to the knowledge and skill of John and his crew, we could not be happier with this company! After having a contractor in my family move out of the area, it’s nice to have a company that I know I can rely on when we need.
