Halo Construction and Restoration

In my decades as a homeowner, I've done dozens of repairs and remodels and my experience with Halo was the best of all of them! Their rep. Martin Kirkland was incredibly responsive to all of my questions and concerns. In a previous life I was a consumer fraud investigator, so am VERY careful. He made sure I understood everything about the process, but pretty much took care of everything for me. He handled all the negotiation with the insurance company (shout out here to Travelers who were very decent) and provided documentation of all charges. The work was scheduled and completed quickly, while in the dead of winter, and they left no debris behind. My only upfront cost was the down payment from the insurance company. The balance paid only when the work was entirely completed. When an antennae was accidentally removed, Halo cheerfully replaced and installed it at their expense. This is the company you always wanted to work with, but didn't really believe existed. It does, and it's Halo. They richly deserve their name!

Salesman unable to read the sign of No Soliciting. Woke up the baby and pregnant wife. How can a company respect the client if they can't respect a sign saying we don't want to be bothered or understand two simple words. And then he continued to peddle his services after I pointed out the sign. Very aggravating.

We had the roof and the siding change in our home . We had a great experience with each and everyone from Halo company, We are thankful to Martin , Noe, the roof crew and the siding crew the work so hard , they work very professional!!

My roof was well over 10 years of age and it desperately needed to be replaced. It was missing several shingles due to the strong wind storms recently in our part of MD. Isaiah and Martin came to our door as a courtesy for our neighborhood, and they were very informative about the current shingles on our home. Little did we know, the shingles had been discontinued and they were bottom of the barrel shingles used by the builder. The Halo team walked me through the steps of submitting a roof claim through my insurance. It was very quick and easy as my insurance agreed to pay for the replacement, minus my deductible. Martin kept me in the loop and he was excellent with customer service as well as communication. They had a team of multiple workers who finished the job in 1 day. That's because they were efficient and worked together. I highly recommend Halo for your new roof or project. You won't regret your decision. Thank you Halo. I love the new shingles color choice that I chose. p.s. They have multiples color choices to choose from as well!

We had a great experience working with Halo. Replacing our roof was new for us. It was a large project that included not just the roof and gutters but also replacing skylights and repairing sidings, window screens, and others. David (Halo owner) guided us through the process with details and delivered quality. Halo’s crew was professional and efficient. We had a great experience working with Martin Kirkland and his team at Halo Construction. Step one, I needed help working with the insurance company. Without it I doubt we could have succeeded on our own. Martin had the experience to get straight past insurance company bs.

The construction itself was top notch. The crew had the roof down to bare wood in amazing time. They found two spots with leak damage and had the wood replaced. This was scary enough, but imagine if it was left unattended and inside got all water damaged and moldy? Halo did it right by me, the homeowner, even though it is more work for them. The whole now structurally sound roof got brand new barrier and wrap, then really attractive brand name (CertainTeed) shingles. I had a bit of soffit damage and the crew handled that too! Before the squirrels could find it!

Lastly i'll say the crew were great workers. They were clearly an experienced team. Both with roofing and working with each other. I was glad they got regular breaks (it's hot and dangerous up there!) and worked hard the rest of the time. I did a little painting on construction jobs way back in college and i appreciated that Halo treats their employees well.

I am not happy to have needed a new roof. I am very happy Halo Construction was the company to do it.

Our home had hail damage and Halo handled every aspect of working with my home insurance to ensure the roof replacement was covered. Halo was highly professional in their communication with me and did a fantastic job replacing our roof and was successful with the insurance company in also getting our gutters replaced. Martin was responsive and helped to coordinate everything for the roof replacement, very friendly guy. Insurance claims were handled without issues and the actual replacement was completed in about six hours. The only complaint I have is that the work was supposed to happen in early December and it ended up being pushed back to March (understandably because of the weather, but I was told that I'd get confirmation about the construction date in about a week and didn't hear back for months without any notice). Overall a smooth process apart from the slight delay in construction.

Halo gave great customer service. Martin explained everything that was needed. The staff did a wonderful job inside and outside the home I would recommend them to my friend's and family.

I can't say enough good things about Josh Pledger and Halo Construction and Restoration! They replaced my roof at a very good price and completed the work quickly and cleaned up thoroughly. Josh was communicative every step of the way. Highly recommend!!

Dylan is easy to work with but HALO's workmanship is quite poor in installing gutters and drip edges(see pics).

1. I had to get up on a ladder to see that they had fastened the drip edge by drilling into the wood fascia behind the gutter--essentially creating a water path behind the screws.

HALO effectively compromised the drip edge they installed by drilling dozens of horizontally mounted screws into the fascia.

Now, they did install attach a few points properly under the shingles, but the vast majority were screwed into the fascia, not under the shingles.

Even where they attached properly under the shingle were performed with a zip screw (hex head screw that stands tall) essentially creating a gap between the shingle and drip edge (should be no gap for water back flow).

2. At the end points, the drip edge was attached too high and lifted the lowest shingle up and off the roof (see pic). This created a water path to flow under the shingle by the drip edge. I can literally see water during a rain storm run under the lifted shingle.

3. For some reason, they have triangular cutouts at the end of the leaf guards. These triangular holes will allow birds/mice to shelter inside.

4. Lastly, to attach the down spouts against my house, they used brackets and screws that pierced the downspout at three points for each bracket. These screws all leak water.

To their credit, HALO has responded to my complaints as Gomez will be coming by with a crew next week to remove and replace the gutter downspouts and drip edges.

I will update my post after their fix up visit next week.

Working with Halo has been a great experience! The team has been responsive and has provided excellent service. In addition, Halo has made some practical suggestions ( planning and design ) that has kept my needs in mind all for a great price! I would recommend Halo for all your construction needs!

We worked with Dylan, Orlando, and Jose on having our roof replaced through insurance. They were able to help get a total roof replacement, but the install and afterwards was painful. Halo’s foreman, Jose, left our house during the roof install for hours, leaving his workers to make poor judgment calls. His workers decided to leave some rotting plywood that needed to be replaced; I thankfully noticed in time before it was too late. The insurance company paid for insulation in my garage but Orlando’s guys decided not to insulate / had to re-do that when we noticed this too. They damaged part of our house in removing the old roof (they eventually fixed it). We discovered a bunch of nails in our flower beds months after the install, despite Dylan’s look over with a metal detector. Our gutter guards that they reinstalled had gaps wide enough for birds to get into them. Overall, working with Dylan was stressful. He would make promises but failed to follow through on them until I would follow-up, often over and over again. When pressed, he would show up without any notice, or expect me to OK someone working on my roof with 2.5 hours notice when nobody is home. There are a lot of reputable companies in the area who can work with insurance to change the roof; consider whether it’s worth the headache of working with this one.

Maybe the problem isn’t us, there is plenty of people who are appreciative of us for helping them through the process and putting a quality roof for their home . It’s very easy”

These guys did a great job in all aspects -- they did an inspection and provided all documentation and photos needed by our insurance company. Vick Vizcaino, who managed the entire process, was always on time, responsive to emails and calls, and clear, accurate, and considerate in his communications. They have an adjustor coordinator, Jim Paschal, who worked with the insurance co. Jim was hugely helpful because the ins. co was extremely difficult; he had a lot more patience with them than I did ... :) The team that came to do the work -- both replacing the roof and removing and replacing the solar panels -- were all professional and timely. They cleaned up after themselves thoroughly and then Vick went over the property again to catch every last nail. We very much appreciated everyone on this team.

Had new roof installation by HALO Construction who did an amazing job from the first consultation to the roof install. I would highly recommend using their company. Dylan who was the project consultant was friendly, knowledgeable and was able to get me a quick install date after everything was approved. This company is amazing!

Came to my door telling me they can submit for me to have new siding from storm damage. A week later after they missed the first 2 scheduled times they were going to come look at my house and me calling them to see what is going on I am told oh we don't do storm damage claims on siding, only as part of a Roof job. Thanks for wasting my time chasing you down multiple times to get told that you can't deliver what you said you could from the start.

Halo Construction and Restoration just replaced our entire roof, and the process couldn’t have been easier. Worked with Josh who was patient, responsive and was great to work with. The roof was completed hours quicker than I was anticipating and looks fantastic. Highly recommend them.

Our old roof was in need of replacement due to storm and wind damage. Halo assisted in obtaining approval from our home insurance carrier (USAA, which was also great!) and then performed the installation. This was a big, challenging project because we have a mansard roof--which also means that the roof has a big impact on the appearance of our home. Halo was very professional, capable and customer focused throughout all steps of the process. We're delighted with the quality of the installation and how great the roof looks. Josh was consistently helpful, responsive, and effective in communicating the process, managing the customer relationship and addressing questions that came up. Josh was the Halo coordinator for this project and he did an outstanding job. He covered the entire process of the inspection the payments and the installation and did it very well. The crew came on time and did a great job and installing a new roof and cleaning up after and solved some problems with flashing in the skylight and solved some gutter leaking problems all in all a great job

We worked with Josh Pledger and he was great! Halo was able to work with our insurance company to get our roof claim pushed through. I was most impressed with the clean up they did. I was extremely pleased with the work and services provided by Halo construction and would absolutely recommend them based off of my experience with them. The Halo crew removed and replaced my roof in a matter of hours and completed the job in less than one day. Dylan, our project consultant, was extremely professional during the entire process and ensured everything went as smoothly as possible.

Sales person disregarded the giant red 'NO SOLICITATION' sign to knock on our door offering a consultation. Did not have a solicitors license. Soliciting without one is a misdemeanor aside from Halo disregarding our giant sign. I wouldn't do business with a company that has so little regard for their potential customers.

Halo knocked on our door and said they could help us file an insurance claim for storm damage and get a new roof. To be honest we were skeptical it would work - but here we are, with our brand new, great looking roofing for just $2,500 out of pocket. Lots of plywood sheathing replaced too. Very happy with the timing (one day job) even if the insurance claim portion did take a while. The only hiccup was some long nails through the sheathing a bit, but true to their word they come out and painted a week or so later. Overall we are very satisfied and would absolutely recommend.

Professional and easy to deal with from start to finish. We worked primarily with Mostafa, and he was great as he shepherded us through the process. Initial contact, inspection, coordination, installation and cleanup were all top notch. They were also very responsive. We initially were going to keep the original skylights but asked for new skylights the day before installation was scheduled. They accommodated that change easily. Highly recommend Halo!

I had my roof and skylights replaced by Halo. I worked with Sean Adderley through the whole process. He was very responsive, assured I had an understanding of the whole process and had an answer for every question I had. I had a slight issue with one of my skylights after installation and Sean had someone out the next day to look at it; it was resolved within a week. He also recommended Sam of Royal Public Adjusters to walk through the assessment with our insurance company. Sam ensured that all damages were properly documented and included in the assessment. Halo handled all communications with the insurance company which allowed for a smooth and expedited process. The longest part of the process was waiting for approval from the insurance company. I would recommend Halo for your roof replacement.

Mostafa came to complete an estimate for storm damage to my roof. The entire process from phoning him for an estimate to completion of the roof replacement was easy and timely. Halo has replaced many roofs in my neighborhood and I was referred by one of my neighbors. I would gladly refer Halo and Mostafa to any of my friends.

We have Halo CR, replaced our roof couple weeks ago, did excellent job, professional, no confusion process. Josh is easy person to work with, would highly recommend. Thank you !!

UPDATE: I received a prompt response from Austin after posting this review. Apparently, when the roof installation is paid for by the insurance company, they are responsible for providing you information, not the roofing company. So, I will go and hound my insurance provider.. Besides this issue, I otherwise had a good experience working with Austin and Halo. The process was painless and saved me thousands of dollars. BTW: The company manager followed up to ensure I had everything I needed. The follow-up efforts by both Austin and the manager, David are the reason I am updating my review to 5 stars.

The people from Halo came by my house offering to do a free roof inspection and to work with my insurance company if any repairs were needed. They did everything they said they would do. Fast forward to installation. They didn't come on the day they said they would. The reason I was given was the job was going to take more than the 1 day they initially expected. The job ended up taking about 4 hours to complete. The workers seemed to be very efficient and cleaned up after themselves well. That was back in November. It is now almost February and I have still not received a single piece of paper documenting the service. If I ever needed to use the warranty, I would be SOL. The representative I worked with throughout this process, Austin, was very responsive up until the work was done. After he received my 5 star review (which he was sure to get before closing the deal), I haven't been able to get him to return my texts and calls. Overall, the service this company offers is great. I wouldn't have been able to afford my roof otherwise. However they have shady people and practices that still have me wondering if I will have regrets in the future.

Mostafa walked us through the whole process, explaining everything and helping us understand each choice. The work was done on time by an efficient and careful crew. New roof looks great. Highly recommended.

We recently got our roof replaced by Halo Construction and Restoration. Mr. Sean Adderley, Project Consultant, worked with me from the beginning of the project to its completion. He discussed with me all the aspects of the project, clarified every issue. He planned all the construction operations and executed the project perfectly. I was greatly impressed with his construction management capabilities, knowhow and performance. I am very pleased to say that he is a great asset to any company. He also provided the services taking into consideration all our requirements, including the time of completion of construction. The project had to be completed before a certain date according the special requirement of my family, and he took all necessary steps to do exactly that. In fact, the job was done even before time. His interaction with us was absolutely flawless and thoroughly gentleman like. I truly appreciate his customer service. It was a five star performance. I wish him great success in his career. Great overall experience with Halo. Josh was my point of contact there from start to end of the process. He was always courteous, knowledgable, responsive and professional. The roof removal and installation crew were fun, thorough and quick. Cleaning after work was performed was thorough and done carefully. Very positive experience.

Had our roof replaced over a month ago and we remain very happy with the roof. Mostafa was attentive to all my concerns before and during installation. Big thank you to Austin at Halo Construction and Restoration whom I worked with through the process. Process took about 3 – 4 months total from first contact to work completion.
I am usually very skeptical about door-to-door type sales or pitches, but for some reason, I chose to listen when Halo came knocking. It turned out to be one of the most non-pressure, polite conversations I had and it took all of 3 minutes. Austin provide some information as he felt I’d be eligible for roof replacement paid for by my homeowner’s insurance based on wind damage. This of course would be verified by an adjuster from my Insurance company (and it was). Only “out of pocket” cost would be my deductible (which I didn’t have to provide upfront) and any other damages not covered if discovered during the replacement.
I did have to sign an agreement to let them file the claim on my behalf and essentially deal with Insurance. I should mention Halo themselves did not file the claim but went through a Public Adjuster (Royal Public Adjusters – main office in Chicago but licensed for my area in Maryland) - all of which was in the agreement. I thought there was no harm in seeing if the claim would be accepted. Halo did say if the claim was not 100% paid for, then we could just drop the whole thing at no cost to me.
I did thorough research on all parties involved and was satisfied as I could see the Adjuster was licensed for my area in Maryland. I even went over to Halo’s office in Rockville, got some information on other houses they had worked on and went to check out the work (some houses still had Halo’s sign on the yard).
The actual roof replacement was done within a day and a half (most of the work completed on the first day). The foreman - Jose was thorough, explained any issues he found and provided different options to take care of them - there were only a couple of damaged beams. The crew cleaned up when they were done. Now I just have to wait till it gets a bit warmer for the rest of the shingles to completely seal up.

The fact that I had to initiate most of the calls / conversations from scheduling, to getting updates was the one downside. Would have been nice to get these updates without me having to call all the time. But the silver lining is that they always answered, or I got a call back usually same day or within 24 hours.

I just had my roof replaced by Halo. It was a very smooth, easy and satisfactory process. Josh worked with me throughout, always understanding, always thinking and proceeding from the needs and concerns of his customer. The crew was friendly, professional, hardworking and helpful. Mine was a storm/wind damaged roof. Josh and Halo worked closely with me to involve the insurance company. I basically entrusted everything to Josh without worrying about a thing. Now I have a beautiful new roof. Very pleased with the work of Josh and Halo!

SUPER HAPPY! I was very skeptical of the ease in which I was able to get a new roof. Our roof was damaged by hail over the years. Mostafa Attia and his Halo team quickly mobilized the Halo team and the adjusters to work with my insurance carrier. I didn’t even need to take a day off work Within three weeks, They dropped off the material in the morning and I had a new roof by the time I came home from work. And my deck was cleaner than when I left it. Thanks Mostafa and Halo team!!

We met with Mostafa earlier this year in regards to a free roof inspection. Him and his team found some issues with the roof and siding that stemmed from a recent storm. Throughout the whole inspection/replacement process, Mostafa was very friendly, professional, and responsive. We definitely felt like we were being well taken care of. The installation teams started nearly immediately after the materials were delivered and finished rather quickly and cleaned up very well. During the installation process and after each team completed, Mostafa came out to take a look at the work and ensure that we were happy with how everything was going. Halo's owner, David, also came by during an installation just to say hi and see if we had any questions (having the owner stop by is not something I am usually accustomed to, so it was a pleasant surprise).

We shouldn't have any roof/siding issues for a while *knocks on wood*, but if something comes up in the future, Halo/Mostafa will be one of the first people I will contact!

This company did an outstanding job assessing the damage to our roof and replacing the roof in a professional and timely manner. Sean was very responsive to all of my inquiries and made the process as easy as possible.

A Halo representative (Sean Adderly) knocked on our door and presented us with an outstanding offer. Halo would inspect our roof for storm damage to determine if a roof replacement was needed. Once they inspected and determined a full replacement was warranted, they handled EVERYTHING with the insurance claim, removal of solar panels, replacement of roof, re-installation of solar panels and repair to water-damaged ceilings on our upper floor. All of the work was expertly and professionally done, and exactly to the schedule we were provided. Our only cost was the home-owner's insurance deductible. Sean followed up after each major step to insure our satisfaction. He and everyone we dealt with observed all social-distancing protocols and did an amazing clean-up job. You would not be able to tell we had the work done...other than the "shiny" new roof on our home.

I worked with Mostafa Attia and Halo in replacing my roof and the process was incredibly simple for me. They worked through my Insurance company directly so that I only owed the deductible on my insurance. Very satisfied with look of the roof and how quickly they finished the job. There was a bit of a mess left behind, but Mostafa came back the next morning and cleaned it to my satisfaction including making sure that all nails and other materials were not hidden in my yard. Such an easy process and would definitely recommend to others.

Mostafa was completely professional, true to his word and easy to contact. Halo uses an independent appraiser to point out damage to the insurance company. Due to the damaging hail storms we have had this summer, my total out-of-pocket cost for complete roof replacement and partial gutter repair was my insurance deductible plus $255 to replace rotted out plywood. The insurance company approved on their first visit, but had they not, Mostafa said Halo would fight to get complete coverage. I highly recommend Halo for roof replacement.

In spite of all the rain Sean Adderley did a great job of keeping me informed. We had adequate choices in color and type of roof tiles we used. We used an up graded underlayment. Even though we had delays the roof was done in the allotted time it looks great and I would use Halo again for my repair needs
