I contacted this company to request a quote for an addition to my house. The receptionist asked for my name, and I told her "Carlo." She then misheard it as "Carlos" and I clarified that there was no "s"—just "Carlo." Instead of acknowledging the correction, she began arguing with me and insisted on transferring me to a Spanish speaker, assuming I was Hispanic simply because of my name. I asked her why she was profiling me based on my name and accent, pointing out how inappropriate and discriminatory that behavior was. She then mentioned that she was recording the call, speaking in a tone that implied I was in trouble. I responded, saying it was fine, and that I don’t work for her, so recording the call wasn’t an issue. I tried to refocus the conversation, asking her to proceed with scheduling the appointment, but she insisted on transferring me to someone who spoke Spanish. Very unprofessional receptionist and that's the first impression we get when we call this company for information.

Let us start by saying that before we chose Golden Age Builders to work on our home we had never heard of this company and had no relationship with the owners or any of the workers. Since we bought our home 6 years ago we have had several companies updating or upgrading it, but by far Golden Age Builders did the best job for the best price we found. Only the highest quality materials and labor are used. The project was actually completed ahead of schedule. The clean up was perfect; not a trace that they were even here. Thank you Tom! I worked with Golden Age Builders on two separate projects, to renovate both bathrooms in my condo in LA. I worked with Sebastian who managed both projects, and I could not recommend Sebastian & his team more!

He was extremely communicative during the entire process - from project scope through completion - answering all my questions, keeping me updated on project updates & timelines. He and his team were experienced and were able to tackle both bathrooms - they both came out great! Sebastian and his team advised me on the finishes as I was designing both myself and purchasing all finishes.

Lastly, Stella was also great in communicating with me on timelines & managing payments throughout the project.

Our project was to remodel 3 bathrooms, paint inside and outside and add siding to the outside, tile in the entry and fireplace. The time quote was 3-4 months and we moved back in after 3 1/2 months. Good customer service and a very fast response when I call or texted. They gave me a lot of guidance picking the light fixtures and bathroom faucets. Golden Age Builders is a great choice for any remodel!

I was never going to write this review but after 2 years we're still uncovering problems Golden Age Builders put upon my wife and I.

We hired GAB in the summer of 2020 to do some home remodeling (specifically: building a fence, installing/creating a new window that wasn't there, building a roof deck, installing a new entry doorway). After about 4 months of work and nearly $100k spent, they “finished”, however, my wife and I were severely disappointed (an understatement) in the work.

As shown in the attached photos, they completely destroyed our outdoor space (I mean any all plant life decimated. You can see before and after in the photos), left numerous projects uncompleted (ceiling fans detached, drywall unfinished, filth everywhere), not to mention the new window was and still is a mess. For comparison in the photos, there is a photo where an existing window is on the left and one they installed on the right. Also, it took them 3 visits AFTER our work was completed to fix the window (as it had been consistently leaking whenever it rained) only to discover they had installed the wrong type of window to begin with. So on the 4th time around they finally installed the correct window only to now rediscover the window still leaks (see attached).

I’ve hired other contractors since, and gotta say, I’ve never had any trouble compared to what we dealt with with Golden Age Builders.

I can’t even remember the last time I wrote a review for anything but I felt it necessary to warn any potential customers about what they’re getting into with this company.

I highly recommend Golden Age Builders (GA). We recently hired GA to demolish and convert our lower crawlspace/storage space to a city permitted Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU). The project consisted of adding a kitchen, bathroom, windows, flooring etc.
I gathered nearly 10 bids from different contractors. GA was neither the most expensive nor the least. They stayed true to their estimate. Their design team suggested great ideas that could enhance our space. The most impactful to mention would be a change to the bathroom floor plan which utilized the entire space much better. GA said they could complete the project within 4 – 6 months. They were finished in 5 months.

They worked well with Los Angeles City Plan Checkers and Inspectors. Each inspection passed on the first attempt. During one inspection, the LA city inspector even pointed out our plumbing to an inspector trainee as ‘the right way to do it’ which he said many contractors do not do. I was proud at that moment for my choice to go with GA.

As first-time homeowners we were new to many processes. The GA team took time to explain any and all processes. There were times when my messages were blunt. They never responded with frustration. But rather took time to explain the options and allowed us to make the decisions on our own.

In the beginning, Golden Age pitched their company as a family operation that treats their customers likewise. They had several opportunities to prove this notion. At each, they went above and beyond. For example, late one evening, our toilet backed up. It turned out to be unrelated to the construction being done. Still GA sent a plumber immediately at 8:00 PM. The plumber literally ran up and down a steep hill dozens of times to fix the issue that same night.

Their workers were kind to my family, even making sure to close doors behind them to keep our dog in the yard. Which is a tedious thing to do when lugging materials and tools in and out all day. After 5 months you get to know some crew. I can say humorously that after months of construction beneath my feet I couldn’t wait for the work to stop. But I have missed the team members since they’re gone. I think that indicates that they made good on the family promise. We are now enjoying our permitted space more each day. Thank you, Golden Age!

Finding a good and trusting contractor is very hard to find. From the jump Danielle and Tomas made us feel like family. Then came along Michael. He was wonderful too! We truly love this family and their crew. They were able to work with us through these trying times and worked with our budget. We had two additional rooms, a master bathroom, a small deck and tons more added to our house. Very easy to work with and very organized from beginning to end. I plan to use them for future projects. Just like the saying goes: it's hard to find a good remodeling company. But we got lucky with Golden age builders!
We used Thomas and his crew a little before Covid 19 hit (back in January 2020) to remodel our 1970's old kitchen. During the whole kitchen remodeling Thomas' and his men had made it Super Easy for my husband and I --from designing the kitchen, different options of the kitchen cabinets, to different colors of the countertops. They even brought sample kitchen materials for us to see at our house to choose-- This really helped us save some time driving around to different places checking out materials.
We were so happy with the result of our new kitchen and how hassle free the whole kitchen project was. We even added new flooring and bolted down our entire house. Thanks to Golden Age Builders we were able to live comfortably during the whole stay at home Covid-19 quarantine.
Now Fast forward to now January 2021, after a year of using our new kitchen I called Thomas to come back and help us relocate the kitchen air vent from one spot in the kitchen to another spot . And Thomas agreed and honored his kitchen remodeling guarantee of ONE yr and relocated our air vent for FREE! And the next day he sent his guy Rahul and took care of it right away! I honestly loved how quickly Thomas worked his magic for his customers and his workers always does an excellent job! I am truly thankful that I found Golden Age builders on our first remodeling project! After meeting with several contractors, I chose Tomas with Golden Age Builders for a 500 sq ft addition to my house. His bid was very reasonable, and after meeting with him I felt reassured that he knew my needs and that I could trust him with my project. I definitely made the right decision.

We ran into a few snags along the way with permitting, because of some inconsistencies in the plans (not their fault, I already had the plans before I hired them). Tomas took care of working with the city and the engineer to straighten it all out. He was very good at communicating with me, and keeping me up to date on what was going on.

One of my biggest concerns in doing the addition was bugs - I really can’t stand them, and was worried about having parts of my house opened up while they were working on the addition. Tomas went above and beyond to satisfy me at all times that everything was sealed up, scheduling work however he could to make me the most comfortable. Even if my bug fears weren’t really warranted, Tomas understood and worked with me at every turn, always with a smile.

As for the quality of the work, it is excellent. I am so happy with my new room - it turned out just like I imagined it. And if there were any little things that weren’t exactly how I wanted them, Tomas always took care of them, never stopping until I was satisfied.

I love Golden Age Builders for transferring my kitchen into a beautiful and exceptionally functional living space, They listened to what I hoped to accomplish with the renovation... a more open floor plan. They were so detail oriented, The fact that there would be no additional costs once the project started and that Golden Age Builders uses their own staff for all the work, helped me make my decision. The project teams who worked at my home were dedicated and professional. They treated me like they were working for their own family. At the end of each day, the jobsite was neat and organized.

We worked primarily with Danielle for the design and planning of our 1940s era kitchen renovation. Coming into the project our goals were #1 to add a dishwasher and #2 rejuvenate the kitchen and breakfast nook without destroying the existing charm. We were pretty hands-off and open minded; Danielle came up with a tasteful "refresh" that seamlessly blended with the existing style. Tomas our project manager was professional and made sure we understood his plan. The project finished on time and on budget and his work crew was clean and professional. Communication with Tomas was easy and timely. Everything went as planned. We have received compliments from everyone who knew our kitchen "before".
