My family and I now have evidence that the lot we wanted is still available, despite being told by Smith Douglas that it had already been sold. This feels like nothing more than DISCRIMINATION, and we can’t help but ask: Why treat people this way when they simply want to buy a home? We are not begging for charity; we are asking for the fair treatment we deserve as PAYING CUSTOMERS. Picture was taken today, April 18th 2025. Smith Douglas, if you don’t want to do business with me, then I don’t want to do business with a discriminatory company. But don’t steal my hard earned $5,000. We’ve been trying to get in touch with you, but it’s been impossible to get a response. What a WONDERFUL example of customer service.
Be very careful with Smith Douglas. Don’t trust what they say-get everything in writing and read every single line before you sign. We tried to buy a home through them and they changed the plan on us three different times. Every time we thought we had a deal, suddenly the home was “already sold” or “no longer available.” It honestly felt like we were being pushed out and treated unfairly. It got to the point where it was clear they were only offering us what they wanted to get rid of-not what we actually chose. We didn’t walk away because we changed our minds-we walked away because of how we were treated. And now we’re fighting to get our $5,000 contingency refund back, which we absolutely deserve after everything they put us through.
Buying a home should be SPECIAL, but Smith Douglas KILLED that dream for us!!!
It is your legal responsibility to return the $5,000 we are owed, do the right thing and resolve this immediately.
Make sure to not sign any contingency agreement with them, otherwise they will make you switch you from houses, put so much pressure on you, and not give you back your $5000 deposit. Totally unprofessional. And the houses look nice but they rush their construction that your house is shaky and things will go wrong all the time, like my hot water went out, my gutters fly away, my ac unit was eating my paychecks. Even after this, I still wanted my mom to live close by, but her house could not sell on their time, and now that we have respected all the amazing contingency agreement rules, they don't want us give our deposit back. But they have switched our house plan like tree times, switched lenders and Re do all paperwork, no let you make any changes at all. And now that we could not make it through after all our efforts, they don't even care how we feel after all this disappointments, even worse they gave decided to not give us our Earnest deposit. So be aware. Do not sign any contingent with them, because they will play you like they did to us.
And this is how they will keep your deposit, so again dont trust on them because I did and this what I get. After I was told multiple times that I will get my deposit back.
And the dont even have a manager the reply comes from a sales manager only.
