Seriously regret contracting with this company. I pulled out of a job (before any work was done) when they started trying to change/increase contract price with sob story about material costs increasing. (Bait and switch?). They promised to refund $3900 in progress payments I made for down payment and plans/permits (which were never done or applied for) but so far no refund and company rep is now ghosting me. The rep I dealt with was Efraim “Efi” Mizrahi. He won’t respond to texts anymore. Owner David Porat won’t respond to voicemails. No response from company email. Starting to feel like outright fraud/theft. Mizrahi said I’d receive refund by day before yesterday. Refund didn’t come and now he’s gone radio silent. I’m preparing complaints to file with Contractor’s State Licensing Board and consumer fraud divisions of law enforcement agencies. I will update this post if Expert Home Builders makes good on promise to refund my money. Fingers crossed that they will do the right thing. Outlook dim.

Update 2/23/25:

After filing a complaint with the contractor’s state licensing board and the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, I finally got the attention of Expert Home Builders and they returned the $3900 I had paid them. The Expert Home Builders rep who called me admitted that the complaints were why he was calling to arrange the return of the payments I had made. If I had not filed the complaints I am sure they would have simply kept my money and continued to ghost me. My advice: do not under any circumstance do business with this company.

Expert Home Builders came highly recommended, and now I understand why. Their work on our bathroom remodel was flawless, from the careful selection of materials to the precision of the installation. They demonstrated a high level of expertise and professionalism throughout the project, making sure every detail was accounted for. The communication was excellent, with regular updates and prompt responses to our queries. The end result is a bathroom that not only meets our needs but also adds significant value to our home. We are thrilled with the transformation and grateful for the exceptional service provided by Expert Home Builders!

Based on an ad I saw for roof repair, I called Expert. Oddly enough, they claim to be an emergency repair service, yet there were four delays before they finally arrived to do an estimate, at 8:00PM. It was pitch dark outside. Only THEN was I told that they have a $4000 minimum fee. I'll never be desperate enough to call them again.

The manager and team managed the task to finish the full remodel on time. We had a deadline and they kept us within the schedule update and timeline .

Expert Home Builders exceeded my expectations! The meeting with Isaac was amazing, he offered cool ideas for our backyard and ADU projects, and was very reliable about prices. No hidden fees , no surprise during the whole process!
Amazing customer service!!

I hired Expert Home Builder on 9/11/2023. They are licensed, Bonded & Insured. Because they did not finish 2 bathrooms in 6 months, I had to file a claim with the Contractors State License Board to get them out of my contract. Then I hired several different contractors to finish the work they were supposed to do. The one contractor I hired to finish the bathrooms also had to fix some of the work that they did. 16 months later ~ when it should have only taken 3 months to do the whole contract, I am finally finished with the upgrades to my house. Most of that was my waiting for them to finish the 2 bathrooms and then me getting the contractor state license board involved to get me out of the contract so I could hire other contractors. Yes. They also ripped me off in $$$$.

A month after I signed the contract, they had 3 men come to my house and try to extort me. They demanded that I sign a change order for $60K to remove the asbestos in my attic. They were there for 3 hours and I told them "NO." at least 17 times. They would not leave until I signed. I never did sign the Change Order. They then threaten me that they would not do some of the work they already signed the contract to do. I hired an Asbestos Company, and they charged me $1,600.00 to do the work they were demanding $60K for, and they also capped some of my vents that were not being used.

I checked online today, and they have 3 new complaints in February alone on the Contractors State License Board, and they have lost their Better Business Bureau Accreditation.

I would not recommend this company. No even to change a light bulb.

Please be aware that Expert Home Builders will. . .
 Be able to finish one bathroom in 6 months (not 2 to 3 weeks like most subcontractors)
 If you ask for shelves, they will have nails coming through the top of the shelves. They also will not be straight to the wall.
 When you pick out items such as grout, shower doors, etc. . . they will choose the item they want, and think is best (not the one you have chosen).
 They will lay grout on top of grout in chunks and up the new walls.
 A couple of weeks after the contract has been signed, they might have 3 men come to your house and demand that you sign a change order (mine was for $40K to fix the asbestos in my attic. I had another contractor do this for $1,750.00). Tell them no and ask them to leave. You have every right to say “NO.” If you have said no at least 3 times and asked them to leave and they still insist, please call the police. You will need that report when you go to the Contractor State License Board (CSLB). I only told them “NO” more than 17 times and I told them to leave my house 4 times. My mistake was I didn’t call the police and get a report. They also threatened me that night that they would not complete my house correctly if I didn’t sign. Which they did do.
 It is my belief that EHB do not believe women understand home improvement. Therefore, EHB lies to women and thinks they can get away with the lies because women are inexperienced. If you are a single woman doing a project – please, I pray. STAY AWAY from EHB!
 Please also be aware that they lie. ALL THE TIME!!!
 They will also pile up all the trash in your garden on top of flowers and plants and leave it there for at least 3 months before they take it to be dumped.
 One of the funniest things they did was remove the old doorknob, put on the new doorknob, and then paint the door and the doorknob. (It’s only funny if you don’t have to go and purchase another $47.00 doorknob.
 I ended up sending a 5” file to the CSLB with over 40 tabs on problems I had with Expert Home Builders.
