The worst experience ever! He took $40, 000 to buy some materials to replace my roof and did nothing for months. After a downpour of rain he sent 8 shady workers out that had no experience to put tin on the half that was torn off. They did a horrible job! It's a long story but he's in big trouble with the federal government for doing this because it was grant money. He was supposed to do a whole renovation on my house and he bid $87,500 and wanted half down right away!! He got the bid! Now that this happened to me, the grant people are finally vetting contractors!!! Now he's under investigation!

Beware of Don Guthrie and Don’s Remodel Service based out of Polson, Montana. We hired Don to remodel our deck and to replace our roofing and siding on our second home in May 2024. Our remodel project was supposed to be completed in September 2024, but has barely been started as of today (September 29, 2024). The work that has been done so far has shown very poor workmanship and been done with low quality materials. We have given Don numerous chances to make things right, but he always has an excuse for everything. We regrettably had to officially fire Don as our contractor today because of the lack of quality and quantity of work done. We paid Don almost 50K as half down on our project and have requested a partial refund . He informed us that he doesn’t have the money to repay us right now. I’m pretty sure we will never see any of our money back, but we will give him the benefit of the doubt before bringing legal action against him. I wish there had been more online reviews about Don’s Remodel Service before we hired him. I write this review as a cautionary tale and not out of spite.

BEWARE! Estimated deck project when he was with Meridian Construction, accepted the deposit and did not perform the service. He collected his commission, and I ate half of it to avoid a lawsuit. Contacted him immediately and was told he would get me a check for the money I lost. That was almost a year ago. Left emails and tried to call him with no response. I would not give him a dime till the project was completed if you decide to hire Don Guthrie.
