Working with Dan was a great experience. My wife and I were doing a partial kitchen remodel and wall removal, but on a tight budget. By coordinating with Dan throughout the process, we were able to do some of the structural work ourselves, and have Dan do more of the visible finish work.

I know that most contractors wouldn't have taken the time to talk with us, understand where we were at, and work together on the project. It's often harder to go over the top of someone else's work rather than doing it yourself, especially with some DIY'ers like us going first.

The work Dan and his team did was top notch, on schedule and completed per the original agreement. I'd highly recommend reaching out to Dan for any job, big or small. It's clear from working with him that he will always give you an honest answer, and not try to upsell someone into work that isn't needed.

I injured my back after the project was complete and needed some quick plumbing work done. I of course gave Dan a shout and he was over the next day!

Dan helped us remove a wall in our house. He recommended a structural engineer first and made sure he understood what the engineer suggested to ensure the work was done the way it needed to be. Dan also helped us make decisions about design along the way and understood our vision immediately. He was responsive and timely and did an excellent job! We are very happy with his work and plan to use him for future projects as well. Thanks, Dan!

I am the Clinic Director at RET North Bend physical therapy and Dan has been completing several small projects for us this last year. He is our go-to handy man for anything from touch up paint jobs, equipment installation and mounting, to our latest need which was blind installation. He is timely, clean, efficient, and communicative, and has professional craftsmanship. I appreciate everything Dan has done for us and value his professionalism and availability. He has taken our vision of what I wanted our clinic to be and helped me achieve a clean and streamlined space for our patients. I highly recommend Dan for any and all projects you may have from personal living space to professional office/clinic environment. Thank you Dan the Handy man!

Dan helped us prepare our home for selling. He helped us with everything from replacing a bathroom fan, repairing the electric fence, installing vents in our crawl space and touch up painting the interior and exterior of our home and much more. He was professional and worked independently. We enjoyed having his help and trusted him in our home. I highly recommend Dan.

Dan is awesome. Work he did for me was top notch (prepping my home to get ready for listing it). You won't be disappointed if you hire him. His price was also the best out of three bids I received. Thanks so much for helping me out Dan!!

I had difficulty getting a contractor to repair my deck. He gladly came out to my secluded area and did an excellent job. Dependable and professional and personable. He checked in with me during the repair work to explain what he was doing. He’s great to work with and I look forward to working with him in future projects.

We have had Dan work at two different properties, and each time Dan has done an amazing job, everything from cleaning and repairing shake roof and gutters, repairing front steps, demolishing old cabinets and removing garage insulation - I think there is probably not much that Dan can't do. His work is professional, timely, quality, and he is just a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him, you will not be disappointed!

Dan is amazing. Finding someone with his set of skills, integrity, quality and pride in their work can be challenging in this industry. He easily exceeded all of these traits and expectations. Highly recommended.

He did dry wall repair for me in prep of interior painting I will do. He was very complete, did excellent work and took the time to empower me of the process. Yup... I can do it now. His demeanor and communication skills are excellent. I appreciated his approach, clarity and value. For upcoming needs, he will be my go to guy and the one I highly recommend to others. I want to hang out and swill a beer with him... So glad I found Dog & Dan...Thanks Dan!

Homeowners Tale with a Warning (He even asked me for a review!)

l hired Dan Webster (Dog and Dan, North Bend) to paint a newly constructed shed beginning July 15. The shed is partially constructed with OSB, T-1-11 paneling and LP lap siding all of which are susceptible to severe water damage if not painted properly. I stressed to Dan the importance of complete coverage to protect this $10k shed, including spraying all accessible surfaces and back brushing. Dan responded: “of course” in a tone that said he didn’t need me to tell him his business. I even paid to add a second exterior coat, two coats would be more protection. Dan knew complete coverage of the exterior was required for the warranty.

He had trouble figuring out how to use his new equipment and finished on July 23. It was getting close to dusk. He said he would return the next week to fix overspray issues and to finish painting trim. We bagged garbage; he left it for me to dispose. He promptly asked me for a review.

Early Aug I prepared to submit warranty documents with photos documenting the paint/caulk. Close inspection revealed Dan had not painted the bottom edge of the T-1—11 panels, or the underside of the four OSB doors, he missed segments of the bottom edge of the lap siding from hip level down and did not caulk the windows.

I thought it best to discuss in person the areas that were missed; so I waited for him to respond to calls and texts. I waited patiently, but did not hear from Dan. Finally, on Sept 4 I reached him by phone and asked about his schedule. Despite knowing he still had work to complete, his response was jarring: “I’m doing you a favor to even get you on my schedule” (direct quote)

September came and it rained steadily for a week. Scary! Water ran down the siding following the contour of the lap inward and wetting the bottom edge of the lap. The bottom edge of the OSB is also wet - in many places unpainted and unprotected. Dan finally showed up on Sept 25 (2 months late) with a small paintbrush. Despite heavy rain during the day, he was prepared to paint only the very bottom raw edge of the T-1-11 and the bottom raw edge of the lowest run of siding in the rain with the material WET.

I showed Dan unpainted areas; he denies the problem exists. Dan claims I am seeing BEHIND the lap siding, which is IMPOSSIBLE since it is nailed tightly one run above another. Since the exterior is dark red, the unpainted areas are quite visible, see the photos. I suggested he should have sprayed/brushed the bottom edge, he LAUGHS. Rather than fix his mistake, he denies the mistake. He was paid fully in cash in July. Clearly, I am no longer in his revenue stream so I am no longer important.

While working in July, Dan made a point of telling me that since this is his business he wants to decline work and do only what he wants to do. He complained about how much he dislikes doing handyman work for a local real estate company. He doesn’t like to be bossed around. "He’s the boss." I treated him respectfully, I paid cash promptly, I fed him, I helped clean up his mess AND he told me I was the type of client he likes to work with. I would hate to be the real estate lady he doesn’t like working with.

Due to Dan’s poor performance and delay, I am forced to hire a professional painter to re-paint my shed before the October rain destroys it. Dan left me with an expensive and worrisome problem. Look at the pictures and judge for yourself whether there is a problem with his work.

As many of the other reviews state, Dan was excellent and I highly recommend him for any job around the house. As a new home owner, there were a variety of items to take care of including installing a kitchen sink and repairing a vent in the attic. Dan handled all jobs quickly and efficiently and answered my questions along the way. I look forward to continuing to use Dan for the various odd jobs that come up around the house in the future.

Dan exceeded expectations. The jobs were performed with extra care and quality. He not only did the work but added extra touches, like cleaning up the area even better than he found it. He even cleaned my skylights as an extra bonus. I highly recommend Dog and Dan for handyman services.

We needed to level a foundation and assemble a shed. Dog, and Dan, swung by for a work estimate.

Work proceeded on schedule. I am very pleased with attention to detail and the purposefulness of effort in getting our project completed.

I happily recommend him to anyone needing his services and look forward to working on future projects.

From the moment we spoke to him, you could tell he knows his stuff, but more importantly, he’s honest and fair.

We had approached him to install a garage door opener, and he gave us some different options and was communicative along the way. Who knew there were so many different options and aspects of installing a garage door opener! Glad I didn’t tackle this as. DIY...The quoted hours were accurate and the darn opener he picked out is so quiet!

We also asked if mold remediation and reinstalling new insulation was something he was comfortable doing. He took a look at the attic space, and felt it was a little more he can handle. Appreciate the honesty for sure, rather than trying to make a quick buck.

We recommend Dan for anything around the house and look forward to utilizing his skills sometime soon.

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
