We bought a 1963 brick rancher a year ago and finally found the time to renovate the original master bath. Asked Facebook local group for recommendations and Craftman's Homes (Jeff Tucker) was suggested by someone. Contacted Jeff who came the next day and provided an estimate (written and very detailed). He said he could start as soon as I gave the green light and he did. He gave me suggestions for everything, lighting, plumbing fixtures, you name it. He also originally suggested to keep the tub and have it re-glazed, then when he got started on the job, he realized it had been re-glazed once already and said it would be twice as much to have it done again, so we elected to buy a new tub, which saved us quite a bit. Parts of the bathroom we had intended on replacing (vanity, cabinets), Jeff suggested we keep and repaint because the quality was much better than anything we could buy. Every step of the way, Jeff consulted me before moving forward if there was anything he wasn't sure about. When he unboxed the new tub we purchased, he noticed a very tiny imperfection that he wanted me to look at before he installed it. It's something I never would have noticed but I really appreciated him asking. He finished sooner than he had projected and we are 100% satisfied with the work. Will use him for any future projects if he has the bandwidth.

Jeff has helped me with 2 projects, and both turned out very well. The first one was a complete bathroom renovation. He took the original 50's small bathroom and turned it in to a beautiful space! We are so happy. The second project was a screened porch spruce up, and the porch looks brand new! He is reliable and professional, and is highly skilled. His craftsmanship is beautiful. Consider calling Craftsman's Homes for your next project! You'll be glad you did!

Jeff replaced metal roof and vinyl siding on my large farm shed. He is knowledgeable, trustworthy, and pleasant. It looks great.
Jeff later remodled my old farmhouse kitchen, living room, two bathrooms, and laundry/mudroom. I am very happy, with the results, what an improvement! He is a true craftsman.

Highest recommendation for Jeff Tucker and his company, Craftsman’s Homes. He is talented, knowledgable, inventive and meticulous across wide range of home repair and renovation issues. We had major flooding in our finished basement. He took out the damaged area and repaired and painted the new drywall and moldings. He moved on to a project involving rotting facia, soffet and the very distressed and painted wood siding. With serious scraping and sanding and painting he created a nearly pristine, beautiful surface. He fabricated metal cladding for the fascia, which along with drip edge, produced beautiful, leak free protection for the roof edge and gutters. He refinished our front door sidelights. He vented our kitchen fan through the attic to the outside. We could not be more satisfied with his work and look forward to more projects. Bob and Suzanne Cahill, Richmond

Jeff has done jobs for us in the past and his work is detailed and creative. One of the reasons we continue to call him back is because we are so particular and he always exceeds our expectations. For this job, he made additional shelves for the cabinetry in our custom kitchen. The shelves all fit perfectly and were actually better quality than what the custom cabinet makers installed. He also made a couple shelves for a piece of furniture we had retrofitted for clothing storage and they were perfect. His ability to match finishes with great quality is amazing. Would highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality craftsmanship.

Jeff Tucker has done a number of jobs for me over the years and has always provided outstanding work. He has built a custom entry piece to hold shoes and dog supplies. It fits perfectly in the space and looks beautiful. He also installed a fabulous backsplash and under counter lights in my kitchen. He also did a huge favor under high pressure conditions and completed bases boards and shoe molding on recently replaced wood floors so condo could be photographed for sales brochure. He is a great craftsman and always very professional.

My family hired Craftsman’s Homes for two projects this year including building a home office in our unfinished third floor and a decorative wall with custom cabinets that divides our living and dining area. We live in Magnolia Green. Both projects required lots of design creativity and detailed work. Jeff and his team expertly completed both projects and we are very happy with all work performed. All contractors have things they do well and for Jeff, I think their custom cabinets and furniture are outstanding. He matched what our builder had put in perfectly and the quality is far superior. I also really like how they will work within your budget and offer earnest suggestions to keep costs down. I definitely recommend Craftsman’s Homes and will use the again in the future. Thanks!

FABULOUS Jeff Tucker and crew are the best. I’ve been using him personally and for my interior clients for the past 3 years. He has done everything including building an amazingly beautiful sideboard and cabinet. Drywall, building a new wall or cabinet. Finding a clever way to hide garbage cans. Tearing down an existing wall and then fixing the hardwood floors to match. He is a master craftsman. He is always my first choice for every job !!!

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
