I purchased a new thermocouple for a water heater back on May 6th, 2024. The older thermocouple was 12 years old and not generating any millivolts. I installed the new thermocouple and the water heater's pilot was working correctly. On June 27th, 2024 the water heater's pilot went out and wouldn't stay lit. I measured the thermocouple's output at 15 millivolt and this is not enough to satisfy the gas valve's pilot circuit. A typical gas valve needs at least 25 millivolts from the thermocouple.

I went to BBC on June 28th, 2024 to deal with the bad thermocouple. A higher-up at  BBC said that my water heater has a problem because the thermocouple is not performing correctly. I asked what exactly the problem is and boss-man was clueless. Anyways BBC would not honor their 90 return policy.

If BBC won't help me with a small $15 issue, I'd guarantee that I'd get the same poor service with a higher dollar item. Now I'm only dealing with Lowe's and I'll pass this poor customer service info around town.

So BBC responded rather poorly to my issue. They don't offer to help resolve the issue. Why in the world would I shop there again? You won't help me if there is a problem.

Would have given 5 stars as your team rocks and we have a building center in Breck, which is a great amenity. Your hours on the other hand are a disservice to this community, especially anyone who has a job. I get that commercial patrons are your bread and butter, but closing at 5 (most people are off by 5 and even the extra hour to 6 would be amazing), 1 on Saturdays is just silly and no hours on Sunday is sad.

Good inventory, but I asked two employees for help finding things and neither did more than tell me the aisle number. Living in Breck I appreciate the convenience of BBC. But if I want actual help, I'll make the trip over the pass to the Fairplay ACE. They have amazing service, and help you problem solve too. I am a little suspicious that all these five star reviews are solicited. This store isn't horrible, but it's hard to believe that anyone is experiencing consistently excellent service here.

Love this store. Amazing customer service with very knowledgeable staff. The manager will even go out of his way to help with the most menial of things.

Horrible. The store is empty and has been empty of supplies for the last probably 2 months. I'm not even going to stop by there anymore. It's sad because it was a great store until they switched over to Orgill. The staff is always been great. For that reason I still give them a 5 star because nobody in Breckenridge deserves anything less.

Good, friendly service, largest inventory I've seen in Summit County in over 20 years. As Garrison Keeler says, "If they don't have it, you probably don't really need it."

They have most things at reasonable prices plus have a knowledgeable staff. Every time I enter they ask me if I need help, which I normally do, and have excellent work around tools and parts that can remedy any situation

Went looking for a 20 amp extension cord, hard to find! They didnt have one of course but mike was so awesome and made me one. What a great family place with great service.

Per the request of the manger below, I scheduled a call with the general manager. However, the GM failed to call me. I’m not sure why. While I want to see this as a metaphor for the experience I’ve had to-date, I understand that everyone has days that are hectic. If there was true concern of my review, acknowledgment of being late or missing the call is not too much to ask.

I am an experienced home remodeler (9+ homes) and have spent significant money with BBC. The customer service from Eddie Tang on my window orders is the worst I have ever experienced. Between one wrong order and now an additional order to correct it, no-one is taking responsibility or assisting in making sure the new order is accurate. He is passing me off to other people, giving me no confidence my next order will work either. As a strong supporter of local businesses, I now encourage you to use Lowe's or Home Depot!

The team was great Alex and Cindy helped me out with a lock issue! I’d recommend this place for their great customer service!

This is a great local hardware store where they really know their stuff. This isn't some place where the employees are random folks, but rather seasoned professionals who can provide great advice. A bit pricier than the big box hardware stores, but worth it for the service.

A bit hard to find due to the construction but they had what we needed for good price despite having no local competition. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of parking.

The crew at the BBC is awesome, but have to say Tyler is the man! He knows the product, knows the local workforce and always has a smile on his face. If I'm in there and need help, he's my first choice! Wish they were open on Sunday for home improvements and emergencies even if the lumber yard was closed, but with a little planning it's typically not a big deal. Thanks for the great service BBC!

Worst customer service in the lumber yard ever. Had to chase down a staff member to finally even be acknowledged. They were short and not engaging. It took a grand inquisition just to get pointed in the right direction. Didn’t even offer to help me load a bunch of 8’ 8x8s that of course weigh a ton... ridiculous.

I recently purchased a home with Weathershield windows supplied by Breckenridge Building Supply approximately 10 years ago. I have an issue with one of my patio doors. I just got off the phone with them. I was told by the person answering the phone they are no longer servicing past customers for Window and Door Service. Their Millwork person Sterling was at his desk but I was told he was not taking calls from past customers. They are still listed as a service provider on the Weathershield site. Poor customer service.

Two days later: Breckenridge Building Center has contacted me directly and the service tech will be here Friday. They have followed up after the bad review.

Called for a referral to have a basement remodeled after some basement flooding due to a failed switch on a sump pump. Was told he had a big board with a lot of contractor's cards to give me a number or two from. After 10 minutes on the phone, I still did not have a number. This could have been a 2 minute call. I was under the impression this shop was a proponent of using local contractors, so I am unsure why getting a referral to one is difficult information for them to provide.

This is the lamest hardware lumber store I've ever been to. The people act like you're a bother. They have a lot of products but no one knows anything about them. The worst thing is is that if you're in there at five, they want you out. They said they were closed and were so rude about it, that I walked out of there leaving a $400.00 purchase behind and I'll go to Lowes instead of this incipid place forevermore!

Based on my experience as a BBC customer over the past 8 years, I find it difficult if not impossible to believe any of the grumblings expressed previously. Everyone I've ever asked for help is cheerful and responsive. A great, convenient store that usually has what we need for repair and maintenance of our Peak 7 vacation rental- Heaven on Seven. Thanks BBC!

These folks are great. Walking in the door they're asking, "Can I help you? What are you looking for? Not all the bling of some other places but they have what you need.

My personal experience is the Breckenridge Building Center will not have what you need, if they do, it will only be half of what you want or some universal item at 3 times the cost. the consumer service is terrible! personal conversations between employees while you wait, employees sitting at the front while customers line up to check and then they walk away as if to suggest " NOT MY JOB"! I have had the fork lift driver look at me and take off due to lunch time and the slop of paper in my hand. I would love to support local, but the BBC makes it hard knowing every visit is a disappointment and I will have to drive to LOWE's every time anyways. SORRY for the hard truth!

Jill at the front desk was very knowledgable and useful. One of the guys in the lumber warehouse was a complete jerk. Rude, cussing under his breath, dropping our plywood on the corners and tossing it around. Absolutely awful person.

I will go back for tools or hardware because they are in the main store. If I need lumber I will certainly weigh the length of the drive to Lowes.
