A five day landscaping and new driveway job has turned into a five week job due to procrastination and the owner, Gary Caufield, playing games with the job.

Gary had multiple opportunities to pour the concrete with good weather but wasn’t prepared to pour. He’s refused to set the forms behind the fence which has resulted in a poor outcome. He is actively refusing to complete the job even though he’s been paid on time throughout the job and has even been fronted money outside of the agreed to terms. Currently, he is refusing to pour the remainder of the front walkway and complete the front landscaping which was agreed to during a job walk. He’s demanding full payment even though the job has several days left. Gary’s poor planning, underestimating of time and materials, and procrastination has made a simple driveway job a nightmare. He has delayed our entire project causing us to lose contractors and rental income not to mention the stress of deal with the project.

When it comes to the quality of his work, he claims he can’t fix the pools of water that form on the concrete when it rains even though he swore it was graded property, the finish is uneven and in multiple directions, and Gary doesn’t follow through with what he promises. The only positive is that he made slight concessions to help offset the massive delays and losses he has caused, but he isn’t finishing the job correctly so that doesn’t matter.

Don’t hire Caufield Construction. I will be filing inquires with multiple agencies due to Gary’s multiple breaches of contract and the bait and switch tactics Gary used to get the job.

Mr. Gary and his team did a great job. The team did my concrete driveway and dirt under and around my house. Having to deal with the inspectors and just dealt with it without any problems. Poured concrete on time and made everything look great. Thanks Mr. Gary and your team for a job well done. Thanks Dan Schouest.
