There are not enough reviews yet to form a clear opinion about Basement Authority of West Virginia

Dave Weaver and Isiah did an excellent job leveling up our sidewalk. No more trip hazards. Dave was very clear in explaining what needed to be done and how he planned to do it. Very pleased with the final results
I kept having trouble getting my inspection done for a loan that I was getting. The appraiser saw water under my crawl space and I called Basement Authority who sent out a crew and in one day they had it taken care of. But when the appraiser came back a second time and saw water at the crawl space door and still wouldn’t pass the inspection. Mason Miller came out and took care of the door for me. I would strongly recommend him. He is awesome and he will take care of you.
Nick and Morgan are the greatest.
They fixed my crawl space like brand new and Morgan always goes above and beyond to satisfy me. She works with me with my crazy schedule at work.
I don’t think there’s any engineer in her field better than her.
I highly recommend her and basement authority for basement work.
William or Bill is great too.
Morgan explains the engineering concept with ease and makes it easy to understand.
The project got more complicated after the original team arrived and concluded that original plan was not the best approach. A later team foreman (Brad Creighton) arrived and came up with a workable solution of which he personally overseen and completed; he was very knowledgeable, courteous; very professional. His main helpers, Chris Albbugt, and Jonah Bennett were also the best, Job completed and done right!!
Had a great experience with Basement Authority for our crawlspace encapsulation. Troy S. came out initially and inspected, then worked up an estimate for us. He was very thorough and spent a lot of time with us answering questions. Aden and his crew came out and did a great job remediating the mold, and installing the system. They were all polite young men and hard workers. Our crawlspace is SO much cleaner now. Should have done this a long time ago.
Basement Authority was nice enough to come back out and fix the issues with the previous work they had done, free of charge. We appreciate their team for taking time to make it right.
Yesterday Logan Jawroski came to help me figure a complicated Basement leak. From the minute I met him,I was impressed with his listening skills and polite manner. I could also tell,he was smart and knew alot about his job. It doesn't get much better than that. Thanks Logan and Basement authority!
Our crawlspace is flooded and we can't get the paperwork to even get an appointment because someone didn't change the paperwork from the old homeowner after they've been out. We didn't choose this and the phone just cuts out. They will just make things worse in an emergency. Get someone more reliable
Mike C was great. Super helpful and knowledgeable. He walked through the house with us and discussed all the options. There was no pressure and we found the perfect solution. The ability to finance the project was huge. Big thanks to Mile and the team.

Getting a sump pump as well as a dehumidifier from them is huge financial commitment. We certainly don’t feel that we got our moneys worth out of it. While everyone seems pretty nice, a couple of promises were left not done. You are responsible in making their end work look respectable. The dehumidifiers they sell are EXTREMELY noisy and there’s little to no sympathy about that. In retrospect, we wish we would have shopped around before committing.
Logan quickly solved an ongoing problem. He patiently answered every question. He was professional, knowledgeable and offered great customer service.
Nick did a great job, considering the number of issues he needed to deal with in my basement. He explained what was needed, how to repair it & what to watch for with my new equipment. Very, very pleased!
Jake performed a thorough and seemingly informed inspection of the entire premises, concentrating on the crawlspace. Afterwards he provided a very informative presentation about the benefits of encapsulating the crawl space - as well as a breakdown on costs and options. We were very impressed with his entire body of work on our behalf. We are seriously considering the options presented.
Basement Authority of West Virginia (BAWV) just completed work to install six helical piers on the front side of my home's foundation. The experience was good from start to finish.
Carrie conducted the initial inspection and provided the estimate. She is knowledgeable and professional, with a warm, down to earth manner. She really sold me on BAWV and the parent company, Groundworks and the way they stand behind their work and warranty.
The estimate was straightforward and they provided a military service discount. They even offer convenient finance options so homeowners needn't delay critical repairs.
Sheila, the scheduler at BAWV's office in Teays Valley communicated with me in the days before work commenced.
On the day that the work crew commenced repairs, the foreman, Robbie Borne, called me as they were departing the warehouse. Robbie kept up excellent communication through the entire three day project.
Robbie, Austin, and Logan were polite and did professional work at every step, to include the cleanup and recovery upon completion of the job. I highly commend these young men for their manners and their work ethic.
The three days were marked with heavy rains, lots of mud, and high humidity, but they got the job done and left my property in reasonably good order considering the conditions.
BAWV is a great West Virginia company supported by a solid national organization in Groundworks. I highly recommend them.
Bill Burgette and Jacob Frazier explained the situation so that I could understand and I am pleased to have the work done. See you in July!
They did work for my parents Floyd Smith and Alice Cook Smith . They lied about the job they was going to do. Overcharged them. They wasn't very professional. There supposed to come check and make sure the floor is level and check the jacks they installed. Haven't seen them in years. Not recommended.
Micheal and his team were professional and knew what needed to be done. They were efficient and polite and are an asset to the company. Thanks for the great service and even greater employees.
Michael Cornecelli came to my house today and completed a full assessment of my basement.. he was on time and provided a thorough explanation of the process and gave us multiple options. I’m excited to get my basement water proofed!
Ryan was great! He did a thorough inspection and performed basic maintenance on our basement area Basement Systems encapsulated about 5 years ago and also inspected our crawl space we had encapsulated by a different company more recently. He pointed out possible problem areas and gave preventative advice. Ryan was knowledgeable and professional.
Mike C had me from hello...lol. He was amazing at breaking everything down and showing me the problem and most importantly the solution. My wife and I are happy to have Basement Authority as our help. Thanks Mike C for everything!
What an A-1 job. Reasonably priced. Professional . Great communication. The team of Kevin Watkins, Jaden Arbaugh and Hunter Mangnus were a first class onsight team. They finished the job in a timely fashion and did a great clean up after the fact. My best recommendation is that we recommended them to our son, who will be using them.
Mike C. was able to help isolate the problem & provide a permanent solution that worked with in my budget.
Nicholas checked out my house today like never before. The work I has performed by Basement Authority is very good, but Nicholas is by far the most professional inspector I have met from that company. He taught me things I needed to know about my foundation so that I can take good care of my home. Means the world to me. Thank you so much!
Logan stopped by and performed service on previous work and completed install on dehumidifier/air purifier which will help with keeping the house comfortable..
Basement Authority just finished a crawl space encapsulation today. WOW! Game changer. Made a HUGE difference in my crawl space. Now my wife and I know we will not have concerns about water and moisture for many years to come. Installing my dehumidifier this weekend. HATS OFF TO JASON, BRYCE, AND BRYCE. THEY DID AN AWESOME JOB! VERY PROFESSIONAL, KEPT US UP TO DATE DURING THE PROCESS, HARD WORKERS!! VERY NICE YOUNG MEN!! THANK YOU!!!
****** Would like to take a moment to recognize another one of your employees, Richard. He and Cody came out yesterday evening (Tuesday) to complete some sealing that was missed during the initial encapsulation job done a few weeks ago.
Richard was an excellent communicator and demonstrated a high level of professionalism. They arrived as promised, and even though I was not at home, Richard sent me a text informing me that they had run out of foam sealer needed to finish the area where our HVAC duct enters the crawl space. He assured me that he would return the next day to complete the job.
True to his word, Richard kept me updated and came back to finish the work. He did a fantastic job putting everything back in place at my crawl space entry.
Well done, Richard! Basement Authority would benefit from having more employees like him. He has a bright future ahead. ******
Eric Reeder
Timely, professional and willing to offer a solution to my sinking concrete around my pool deck. We have called multiple companies and no one willing to help. Very pleased with professionalism, quick scheduling and financing options!
Did decent work when they encapsulated the crawl space underneath our house. They were supposed to take care of all problems we were having with the water coming underneath of our house. It hasnt even been a year since that work was done (still under warranty) we are still having issues with water coming in underneath our laundry room. They failed to put in a sump pump for whatever reason? They are supposed to be the experts. We took out a second $30,000 mortgage loan to get this problem fixed, still having issues, and now they are telling us that we will have to pay another $2,000 some dollars to put in another sump pump under that area of our house. This should have been noticed when they gave us the original estimate so we could have planned accordingly when we went through the process the first time. Their mistakes should have to be covered under the warranty.
Nicholas performed the annual check on the 2 yr old sump pump in the basement. He was thorough and communicated clearly about what he checked and how. He also checked the lining in the crawl space under the kitchen and went above and beyond by removing a dead mouse (not in his job description, but much appreciated!). All in all, I feel good having had eyes on the system to confirm that everything is working as expected.
Kevin Watkins (Forman), Jaden Arbaugh, Hunter Mangus did a terrific job. They were thorough, carful, and explained everything as they did their work. They all could explain the process when I asked questions. They were able to finish early. And made sure things were in tip top shape before they left. Thank you!
Mike C was extremely friendly. He explained the job and what it will entail. He showed all the picture of the work that will be repaired I would recommend him to others because if his professional manner
Without a doubt, the most incompetent company with the worst customer service that I have ever had to work with. It all started well but as soon as the contract was signed to install helical piers to stabilize our chimney, it fell apart.
I received inconsistent communications from about 7 different people throughout the process. The appointment had to be rescheduled after they failed to show up or call. They called hours after the appointment time to apologize because they meant to call the night before but forgot. The co-foreman stated that he would try to get a crew together to do the job on Saturday but mistakenly believed that it was “just a front porch job”.
After the no call/no show, David Weaver called and apologized, rescheduled for the following Friday, assured me it would be done even if he had to do it himself, and promised to take a few hundred dollars off of the bill to compensate for lost wages because we were told we had to be present for the appointment that they failed to keep. The next day, the office called to ask if the following Saturday would be a good time to get the job done despite David assuring that it would be done on Friday.
They kept the Friday appointment but showed up late, couldn’t complete the job, destroyed a termite bait station on the opposite side of the house with the excavator, and left about a dozen water bottles and trash in the yard for me to pick up because they wouldn’t be back until Monday. The job was finished Monday and they decided to park the excavator in my front lawn for later pickup, tearing up an area completely removed from the actual job site. I fully understand that the yard around the worksite will be destroyed and there will be some tracks to and from, but this was avoidable and unnecessary.
I received the invoice and, to nobody’s surprise, there was no compensation made for lost wages as was promised. I messaged Mr Weaver afterwards and……crickets……
They sure do talk themselves up and present as a professional organization but in reality they were the complete opposite. I highly recommend avoiding them but if you choose to use their services, good luck, and I hope your experience is somehow far better than what I received.
7/6/25 Update…
I waited 48 hours to leave the negative review while they failed to respond to any of my messages. Only after receiving a bad Google review did customer service become a priority for them. They responded promptly the next morning and I was contacted by Mike who is apparently in a management position. After explaining the ordeal to Mike he apologized yet again and promised once again to at least take care of the lost wages and anything else I needed. I only asked for the lost wages as promised by David Weaver and he assured me that he would take care of it. It has been two weeks since that conversation. I paid my invoice within a few hours of completion of the job, there is no excuse for taking this long to reimburse the lost wages.
Clearly this company has no intention of actually following through. At this point I consider the matter closed and simply advise others to avoid them.
Mike C was very friendly & knowledgeable. He fully addressed all my worries & made me feel very at ease & comfortable with the solution.
A 5 star rating for them to show up on their scheduled date, but…
~$17,000 quote for a 32x24 crawl space fix/shoring up. (7 pads/jacks, 5 ibeams + labor)
A 1 star review for the rest of our experience. Brandon-doesn’t crawl under the house, talks smooth and promises the world that the laborers will get everything done (new beams/sistering all joists that need it). The laborers crawl under the house and realize it’s a lot more work than initially expected (expected to finish in 1 day). They sleep in their box truck until 3pm then leave because it’s too much work. All hand tools and materials were left at the jobsite. They never showed up or contacted us during their 4 day time frame.
Didn’t hear another word from them until we kept calling to find out what was going on. ‘Jeff’ their sales manager finally called and gave the same customer service spiel of about how sorry they are and asked about how they can make it right.
Equipment: they use $70 plastic pads from home depot, $120 ea. screw jacks, and steel ibeams which might be $100 for a 10ft section.
The workers were super nice but we had a few questions that were never answered Operation manager came inspected the basement said someone would call us then he said they would be someone would be here in two days to retighten the frames no one showed called and left messages no answer will summit pictures later
Marques Bowman was my service technician today. I have never seen such a hard worker. He worked non stop in the rain and lightning . He is very personable and kind. I recommend this co very highly. They get a 10 out of 10.
I have maintenance performed on my sump pump yearly. This year Ryan did an amazing job. He was very thorough and told me all the steps he performed. Thanks
Our family is so grateful for the recent sump pump install & related work completed by Mason M., Noah M., and Gage N. with Basement Authority of WV! We have three family homes proudly & currently covered by Groundworks companies, two in TN via AFS & our primary home here in WV via Basement Authority, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the consistent & superior customer service & care from their team & specifically Mason, Noah & Gage in mid-April. These gentlemen are consummate professionals & took the very best care of our project needs - they communicated thoroughly & in advance, explained their process before beginning work & offered multiple check-ins for questions or concerns, & made sure to leave the work area/home zones in even better shape than they found everything (which was *much* appreciated given the muddy conditions we had from prior rains)! This was a relatively small-scope project compared to previous & multi-phase work we’ve done with Basement Authority, so it is truly a testament to their customer care ethic that they treated it as seriously & carefully as a more involved range of work. Mason, Noah, & Gage - you have our sincere gratitude & tremendous appreciation for your very fine work & kind courtesy while you were at the house. Thank you all! And thank you to Courtney & Richard for your help following up to ensure payment processing & for an overall quality control check after the work as well. Your support after the fact was wonderful! Thank you again, & we very much look forward to our next round of work with Basement Authority - Mason & his crew would be welcome additions to any residential project site & certainly would be again at our home!
I have been having problems with my crawl space and couldn’t get it fixed till Morgan Meadows came and took care of it
She’s the best and very knowledgeable and has excellent customer care.
She really takes care of her customers and I recommend
I called Basement Authority of West Virginia because my father's house had begun to rapidly crack on the inside, and there was a broken floor joist—all signs of the foundation sinking. Bill Burgette and Jake Pifer came by to conduct the free inspection and were an absolute pleasure to work with! They explained everything to us, even demonstrating the reasoning behind the methods used to repair such damage once it was determined that this was indeed what we were facing. Their inspection was thorough, and they even caught secondary problems (at our request) that they brought to our attention! I'd gladly recommend this company—and Bill and Jake as well—to anyone needing waterproofing or foundation work done. I'm looking forward to working with them!
Bill Burgette and Jacob Pifer were great at helping us discover options we needed for this repair. Looking forward to having this work done.
Cody, Joey, and Brett came and installed a French drain. They were hard workers, polite, and answered any questions we had. I would rate them all 10 out of 10. I highly recommend them.
Jeff and Richie were professional and knowledgeable about their products and processes, and their service was outstanding. I would recommend this team any day!
Satisfied customer,
F. Armstrong
Aden, Xavier, and Stephen did a wonderful job putting a drain in my basement. They were very respectful and hardworking men. Will definitely be recommending Basement Authority.
The team was great! The foreman Robbie was friendly, respectful and very professional. He made sure I was fully aware of all steps, situations and contingencies along the way. I rarely had any questions as everything was explained fully and clearly. Logan and Raphael were on point and very professional. The team showed up on time and were all very consistent. My experience was excellent, and that’s a refreshing change from some contractors out there. A+!!! Thank you, gentlemen!
Mike C. did a noteworthy, superb job of investigating our problem, explaining it clearly, and presenting us with options for a solution. Highly recommend this business!
Aden, Xavier, and Stephen are fine young men who done a really great job on the crawl space for our home. I have the greatest belief that these men will really do the job at the best of their ability. I even let them use my truck so they would not have to drive these mountains in the company very large truck. If you want a good job done request these young men. Proud of them.
Bill Burgette was great in getting us the help we needed to repair our home. We have full confidence that Basement Authority will take good care of us.
Michael Burgess, inspector, came to my house, and gave me an estimate on a new foundation drain. He stayed in contact with me from the start of the job until it was finished. He is a very kind person. I want to thank David & Robbie and the other workers that installed my drain and worked on my property. They did a great job! I also want to thank Courtney & Jeff. I highly recommend Basement Authority!
Mike C was completely awesome and professional. The transaction went much smoother than anticipated and cost was was SOOOO much less than expected!!! Call Mike, you will not regret it!
Ryan came out today to service our existing system. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and got the job done in a timely manner! We would highly recommend Basement Authority for any basement issue!
I was super tired of my leaky basement and decided to do something about it. I looked into Basement Authority because I was seeing commercials and ads all over the place. I read reviews and watched multiple videos of the work they did. I contacted them through the website for an estimate. They sent Mike Cornecelli to do my estimate. Mike was very open and honest about what I needed and what he could do to help me. I can't imagine there is a more knowledgeable person out there because he did a very thorough inspection and took pics and measurements. He made a plan on his laptop and showed me exactly what was going to happen and scheduled my appointment for installation. I needed wall supports, a gutter system and vapor barrier to fix the issues going on. My original date of install was moved up 3 weeks, which I am really grateful for. I had good communication throughout the whole process and the men worked every day until it was completed. I have zero complaints and highly recommend everyone use Basement Authority to fix your basement issues. I have learned so much about why leaks happen and how to correct them. Every man on the job was extremely polite and quick to answer any questions I had. They also offer a lifetime guarantee for the life of the home and yearly inspections to ensure everything is working properly. Contact Mike C and your problems will be fixed correctly and quickly. Well done guys!!! I'm more than thrilled with the work and the outcome from beginning to end!!!!
Michael McCallister - Did a fabulous job on our job (front Sidewalk and walkway at our Building). He answered my questions and was very nice. Highly recommend him to do your job your walkway.
the man michael corneclli was very informative and helpful, took his time with no pressure. i enjoyed the whole process
Bill Burgette, was amazing! He was very knowledgeable and was great explaining everything to us. He worked around our schedule. Then helped us resolve all our issues! Thank you so much!
The crew were cordial and the foreman weny out of his way to check things out and explain what was going on. Robby was great. The only thing they forgot to do was install the panel to get into the crawl space. Otherwise they cleaned up everything and i was satisfied with the results.
Very poor job! I had to have my bathroom floor and a 10 x 10 section of joist replace. The salesman to me no plumbing or electrical would have to be moved. I paid over $500 to move plumbing, I have wiring hanging down where it wasn't replaced, no support was place under the front of the bathroom floor. That means a1" piece of wood is already cracking and finally a 10ft section of HVAV was knocked down and not fixed. FOUR $2300 FLOOR SUPPORTS WERE SUPPOSE TO BE INSTALLED. THE SAID ONLY TWO WOLD FIT AND MY BILL WOULD BE ADJUSTED FOR $3000 (AN 8FT I BEAM AT A COST OF $400 WAS USED TO SUPPORT THE FLOOR JOIST. IT HAS BE 4 MONTH AND I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN REIMBURSED. I WILL ADD PHOTOS OF THE MESS THAT WAS MADE. I left out numerous false promises made by the salesmen. My initial estimate was $7500. By the time work was to begin it increase to $12500. When I complained it was reduced to $10,800. Read the contract line by line. Those promises disappear.
Michael C. inspected my basement and foundation issues and was very knowledgeable about what needed to be done. He was very detailed and helpful in explaining what needed to be done and how they would do it. He was very helpful throughout the entire process and responded to any calls / texts that I made.
My job required 2 crews - 1 for foundation lifting and 1 for interior wall support and water drainage.
Kevic, Jaden, and Hunter did a great job on lifting the foundation. They were very helpful when answering any questions I had and they left the landscape looking like nothing had been disturbed. I've never seen anyone dig small diameter, deep holes as fast as these guys did using only shovels! Very impressed.
Aden, Xavier, and Brett worked on the interior wall supporting and water drainage job. These guys are top notch! I had my basement well prepped and clean for work to begin, and every day when they were finished, it looked the same. It rained on the last day and dragging in some mud and water was unavoidable. I checked on them after lunch and was blown away to see that they had already mopped up my tile hallway. The finished product looked just like the photos from the website / brochure and I was thrilled with it.
Great group of guys who do a professional job on both crews.
I will definitely be recommending BAWV to anyone I know who needs this type of work done. Thanks again BAWV!
To anyone regarding this review.
This is an update.
Be aware of Brandon. From being extremely happy and satisfied of what he did (all the talking and the promises) to be shocked and lost and finally was able to see his true face. The min we signed the contract I never heard from him again. Never responded to my texts. Never came to supervise the work. (The project is a disaster, I will follow up with another 1 star review about the project and the company) but be careful of the sale guy named Brandon. My experience is a pure scam. If you do any upfront payment make sure to use your credit card so you can get your money back. BE AWARE BE CAREFUL.
An easy 6 stars for Brandon !!
Nothing easier than communicating with Brandon via telephone, we met, discussed my concerns and signed the contract by the end of the day!
I could not imagine more friendly, cooperative and professional front man. His patience in adjusting and READJUSTING everything based on my needs is beyond what I could expect!
Can't wait for his crew to come and start the project.
Definitely, will share the "before & after" pictures and leave another review for the crew.
Thank you Brandon!!!
Dealt with Eric Reeder on my foundation problem today. He gave amazing customer service and made me feel confident about my homes future.
Bill Burgette was amazing! He was so thorough, knowledgeable, and kind. I'm looking forward to working with Basement Authority of West Virginia!
Mike was awesome! He did a thorough inspection and provided the best option for our budget ensuring we got the most value for our dollar. I'm looking forward to the project being completed and hopefully seeing Mike again.
Eric Reeder was very helpful and professional. He explained the problems he found and the solutions thoroughly and in terms which were easily understood.
Eric Reeder was professional and efficient in his presentation and estimates. I was left with a very satisfied and comfortable feeling for the work to be performed. Very knowledgeable in his field.
After weeks of communicating with Brandon via telephone, weather finally cooperated for us to meet and to discuss our project need.
Basement authority could not have a more friendly, cooperative and professional front man. His patience in adjusting and rescheduling appointments due to inclement weather was bar none.
We are a hard sale customer, and Brandon met the challenge with ease. His expertise was evident, and his attention to site detail was beyond expectations. He readily answered all questions, and thoroughly explained the onsite process.
Attention Management: Brandon should be considered a gem to your organization. He is indeed a great representative for you! We signed on the dotted line and very much look forward to working with him.
Thanks much, Brandon!
I have deleted my original review because I was encouraged by your company to give a good review. In reality, Basement Authority/Groundworks did not complete my job, I have a large piece of equipment in my yard, a ditch that they have left uncovered after taking out our neighborhood cable and internet, and no one will return my calls. I’m left with the task of calling the Attorney General’s office to look into this for me. I’m not at all pleased with their disregard for correctly completing my job.
The workers were on time and work was completed as planned. The reason for the lower rating is because I was left with a big hole in my garage wall that shouldn’t have been there. They did not even offer to repair although the supervisor did come and take pictures.
Bill Burgette helped me to understand insulation options for my crawl space and why some is better than others. Thank you.
I meet with Mike C. to obtain a quote to address water leakage into the basement from rain and foundation issues caused by years of water inundation. Also, to get a quote to seal up the crawl space. (The house has a half-basement.)
He arrived early in a clean company vehicle and in uniform. Very pleasant, knowledgeable, professional and down-to-earth.
His inspection of the areas of concern took some time because he was so very thorough.
Once completed with the inspection, he presented various options, and we discussed each option.
Seems his concern was more about what was best for my situation rather than profit. I really appreciated that.
I predict the construction phase will be very good; based upon the interaction with Mike C.
Eric Reeder was a wonderful help figuring out how to save our home from further settling. He answered all our questions completely and in an understandable manner. He did not rush through any part of the process.
Bill Burgette was awesome at our family’s home. We thought it was a lost cause, but now there’s hope. Thanks, Basement Authority.
The experience was great. I felt very informed about the process. My need was timely, and they were able to accommodate.
